    Afternoon all,

Raining very heavily here...we are on a bit of a hill and there is a stream flowing down the road outside the gate, so no go on finishing putting together Square Foot box number 3....mean to have tomatoes, runner and French beans and peas in there...OH thinks I'm mad, but that's nothing new!

DD2 treated us to lunch to-day, very nice I had veggie pasta, tasty, OH had roast beef and DD2 had steak...all very nice so would go back as a treat for ourselves some day, its near where we collect DGS2 from school so not out of the way. DD4 not home for dinner so guest can have beef stew with dumplings from freezer. Need to shop but am being side-tracked all the time, might leave it until to-morrow at this stage.

Dementia is not nice to watch, so sympathy to those who have loved ones suffering...have experienced it and would not want to go through it again if possible...special hugs.

    Mary.....hugs

Blairweech...hate to see food thrown away and agree that the supermarkets are guilty of much waste, but I understand that there is some law that they are not allowed give it away...some silly EU law I presume, too many people are hungry all over the world to allow waste like that...did you manage to persuade them to give you any?

Never had an animal who stole food so found all the stories very funny...no doubt if it were my dinner I probably would not have been very happy.

Heard that Heathrow was closed earlier...no doubt passengers on diverted flights were kept fully informed.

Nothing happening here of any note...hope that any problems are soon sorted for the best

Oooh- On the subject of animals stealing food... I once made something that was finished with a HOT chilli butter. OH forgot to wash ramekin up and in the morning we noticed that one of the cats had licked out all the hot and very spicy butter. Surprisingly, it didn't seem to affect his tummy that much. I wonder if kitten tastebuds can tell if food is spicy?

Wannasavemoney - Unfortunately I am in a HQ and there aren't any housing officers, they have even got rid of the Estate Wardens. I will phone again tomorrow, wasn't really very coherent when I called today! They have a complaints procedure so will call them and have a moan. If you have children under 2 it is classed as an emergency otherwise tough! DS8 tucked up in bed after having to collect from school at 2pm. He has D&V so day off for us tomorrow. That will go down well at work!

Thank you all for your advice and best wishes. They mean so much and have cheered me up, I don't have many friends locally so all my virtual friends mean to much to me. :grouphug:

I posted a long post a while ago and its gone into space.

Back from visiting my friend, we are doing a craft fair in November, so I will be busy doing cards, bags, maybe some table runners and mats and some of the hand quilted cushion covers, will have to have a trip to Dunelm for some of their 100% cotton curtain lining which makes lovely cushion covers when its been washed.

Tomorrow we have a quick visit to a garden centre to change a fleece that my son bought me for Christmas, its too small which is a shame, its a lovely colour...........

Very heavy rain storms again today and our rivers are all on flood alert, several have broken their banks, there are 10 flood warnings for our area.............I am so glad we live at the top of a hill.........

Just finished our bean and beef casserole, enough for another supper in the freezer....it was delicious.........

Gammon tomorrow with jacket spuds and mushrooms, maybe a small salad on the side.
    Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.

Just had a panic stricken call from Hubby's mum, she was watching TV & they were saying that our area is badly flooded, we reassured her & told her we will definately let her know if we start paddling.

Very pregnant DD came over with DGS, she's worn out & DGS is full of beans, my hubby played with him & tired him out before she took him home again.

I've received a really snotty letter from the local council, it seems someone has reported us as some of the shingle on our drive has washed on to the pavement, oh hang on a minute, I'll just phone God & ask him to stop the rain shall I. I went & counted the stones, there are about 15 of them. I shall ring the council as I'm getting tired of this, it is the 3rd letter I've had in 6 months. 1st one said I'd had a bonfire & if I did it again I'd be fined £180!!! No-one would come over so I could prove I hadn't had a bonfire & they refused to back down on the threat of a fine. 2nd letter said I was the cause of a rat infestation, well I did have rats that moved from next door when they had 2 trees felled, but I paid to have them poisoned, so it is deemed to be my fault they moved to someone else's garden & now this letter about the shingle. I want to find out if we just have some local busybody compaining about everybody, of ir someone has got it in for me.
Ah well, some people have nothing better to do, lol.
    Have a good evening
    Hugs Hester

Oh Hester ................you'd think the council would know better than to send out letters like that over silly things just because somebody had nothing better to do that have a moan.
And I thought I had problems with my b****** oven !! It's working but dinners all over the place. Why is it when OH cooks chicken portions and roast veg all in one dish its perfect..........I have a go and the chicken is not looking nice and brown, potatos aren't done but everything else has a sort of crispy look to it ! Oh well, if he's hungry he'll eat it and it'll make him feel superior knowing that I'm a c*** cook and he's not.........................lol
Tomorrow I think we'll have to have something from the chippy.........I;m no delia and certainly not nigella.............................lol:rotfl:

    Mortgage-free Glee!
Hi All. Not read anything yet. Was feeling really down - first time no birthday call from Mum (can't use phone or write since her stroke). Then staff at school had forgotten until I produced the cakes (which I can't eat!). Tried to post at lunchtime, but kept telling me my message was only 10 characters long??? Must be something to do with posting from work which I've never done before. Then 3 hour governors meeting after school, followed by 20 minutes locking up everywhere in the dark (caretaker off sick!). Still mustn't really grumble - DH produced super warm and fluffy dressing-gown and is taking me to choose earrings on Saturday, DS did remember this year - and staff gave me some lovely flowers at end of the day! Home now to find little brother has sent me a booklet "I'm not really 60" - and as he knows very well I'm not, not for another year!!!
Sorry, must stop going on and read the thread! (((HUGS))) to everyone who needs one today.
