Hi all
had a call earlier saying i need not go in to work today but i can still do the same hours this week by adding to the ones over the next two days which is good as it will save me on petrol.
I decided to really blitz the house and it`s now all sparkly clean so the extra time was put to good use.
I`m having a well earned cuppa and then i shall walk the hounds in this lovely weather, i plan on having a relaxing soak afterwards and then i will make a start on tonights meal. Instead of something from the freezer i shall now be cooking the meatball recipe that i found on one of the threads a couple of weeks ago and DH and i can now eat together tonight which will be a nice change as we have not managed to do this yet this week.
I love reading about the naughty dogs you all have/had it brings back lots of memories as we have had some crackers ourselves.
One of the funniest was actually a cat, i remember coming downstairs one morning years ago to find our then cat trying to drag a 24lb frozen turkey off the draining board where we had left it thawing, what she was going to do with it i will never know it was about 4 times the size of her
SDPlanning on starting the GC again soon0 -
Afternoon all,
I'm so proud of myself, I was pretty annoyed at having to miss out on another Chinese last weekend so I made my own version of the beef and mushroom type dish and it was lovelyEven my brother said it was nicer than the real thing (before he realised it was Quorn not beef).
Next task, sweet and sour sauce...No longer using this account for new posts from 20130 -
Afternoon,
Work was cancelled today  At least I was told before I went in today.
Woke up with a 'hangover' - despite not having had a drink since before ChristmasFelt really sick and had a blinding headache. So, went back to bed for an hour and feel fine now :. Think I must have just been tired.
Not raining here atm, but is very windy.
Plans for today are to clear out the larder.
Oh yes - popped into Tescos about 10pm last night, went to the reduced section to find that the staff were throwing the stuff in the bin - apparently, in Tescos, everything with the next days date on it that has not sold gets sent for waste at 10???? Even by the most strict H & S law, that stuff would still be good for another 2 hours. It really annoys me that the supermarkets say they are 'doing their bit' by encouraging shoppers to recycle carrier bags and then throwing food that isn't even out of date yet in the bin!!! I also find it very disheartening, because no matter how many energy saving lightbulbs I use or eggshells I compost, none of that can make up the unenvironmental efforts of the supermarkets! We must all suffer one of two things: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret and disappointment0 -
oh eeeek dog owners
why do we have them???
Hard up Hester - my old zinc cream eating tessa used to be able to take the choc decorations off the tree and leave the foil too! Your DD's is the first 'other' dog that I know can manage this amazing feat. she never even knocked the tree over. aaah brings back memories.
My dog does the eating of the tree chocs and leaving the foil in perfect condition too, she is a boarder terrier and when we first got her she was tiny, could sit in the palm of my hand, she used to eat the tree chocs, up to where she could reach, and leave the foil in perfect condition, so thats three dogs who do it
Been to the dentist nothing needed doing for both of us, so all good there, home now going to have a hot bath then put the dinner on and wait for sainsbugs to deliver.
Have good evenings all xx0 -
Afternoon all!! Haven't posted for a while, been lurking though!! So thought I'd drop in and post today!
Bread maker is on and smells lush  This is a new year's resolution to use the breadmaker more and utilising the bread rather than succumbing to supermarket bread, especially as so expensive now. So far doing well, making one when another is nearly finished (v. organised!) third one on today!
Off college today (not there on Thursdays) so have been catching up with sleep and housework!! Bathroom and kitchen cleaned, breadmaker on, dinner is out defrosting- red lentil, broccoli and squash curry with rice. And nicely enough I'm off work tonight too!!So a nice pleasant evening with blokey tonight. Lunches made for tomorrow too, tuna, sweetcorn, pasta and mayo.
On a drive at the moment from Monday just gone to spend as little as possible, am doing a grocery challenge too as shopping was creeping right up. Trying to manage this by strict menu planning and shopping list writing, making and taking lunches to college, only taking a small amount of cash out with me at a time, like only taking 20p to college (cup of hot water is 10p, I take my own teabags!!). And paying my wages (cash) straight into the bank the day after I get paid.
I'm doing really well on my college course, so glad I made the decision to leave my job to pursue what I really wanted, am mentally skint but so much happier. AND I've started a placement in a school each Tuesday and I'm there all day!! It's great, really loving it!! Really good experience. They are year 1 and aged 5 and 6. Good thing is it's just round the corner from me so can come home for lunch! This has reinforced even more that I want to be a teacher. Still waiting to hear about a uni interview thougheveryone in my class has at least one interview for somewhere or other except me! Fingers crossed though....and toes!!!
Cor, rambled on a bit!!Missed you all, although I do lurk all the time. Still always getting good ideas from you all.
Been lurking back on DFW board too for more inspiration on how to reduce my spending more.
(((HUGS))) to you all and you will see me a bit more, shall make my presence known!!!

Good Afternoon All
OH is at a job interview now as I type, fingers crossed again for him.
Still going through the washing. Just having a brew then will make a start on the ironing. Then house work to do!
Had real crap day at work, had a customer literally shouting at me down the phone this morning. I can handle situations like these, but it does leave you in a foul mood! Ive now named it my FF mood! (fed up & ****ed off)
sympathies to those who are dealing with relatives with dimentia! Not nice! Saw my Nanna deteriate (sp) last couple of years of her life! It was awful. It got to the stage, she didnt even know how to use cutlery! And she said she was pregnant!
My cousins have offered to treat me & OH to a meal on saturday whilst their visiting! We've decided for the all you can eat Chinese buffet! Not been for ages!
Right, best drag my AS5 of this chair & get motivated!
Take care

Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?0 -
JoeyEmma, I live in military accommodation (am a Sergeant in the Army) and all out repairs are done through Modern Housing Solutions (MHS) who are contracted to maintain the houses. Unfortunately I earn too much (but as a single mum it soon goes!) to be eligible for grants. MHS approval for a new boiler can take upto 10 working days then you have to wait for a sub-contractor to contact you to arrange installation. I was told approval had gone through on Monday - yeah! and to wait for the sub-contractor to call - no I can't call them! I phoned this morning to find out when they would call to be told that it doesn't look like the approval has gone through yet - my hopes of having a lovely warm house for the weekend were dashed!
Having been in the Army, I can sympathise with you. The powers that be are realy slow when it comes to doing something that requires paperwork and money spending. Do you still have a housing office or similar that complaints can go to? If you do, either kick up a stink with them citing your little one as being poorly to speed them up or better still have a chat with a decent officer and get them to put a rocket up. Good luck and hope it gets sorted soon.Proud to have dealt with my debts. Nerd number 288:j Debt free date Dec 07 :EasterBun

At last all is fairly quiet in our manic household. The lad we care for has been out, come back and gone out again with ex girlfriend. No sign of the 'girlfriend' who was sneaked in last night ! He reckons he's going to have a quiet night in tonight as he's got work in the morning -lets hope he goes this time !
Other lad is having his 17 yr old brother over to stay till morning............(think I'll move next door.................lol)
So,I'm in the process of doing a pizza for this lad -me and OH are having chicken portions with roast veg and I've got fingers crossed the fan on the oven carried on working............!!!!
I'm thinking about 40 minutes will be long enough for chicken and roast veg providing fan keeps going otherwise it'll be hours...................lol
Pizza will be a good test for timing I think.
Oh what a bloomin' day................and its chucking it down with rain !!!!!
Never mind..............could be worse............couldn't it ?????
Maybe tomorrow I'll get to sort my bedroom out.............:rolleyes:Mary
I'm creative -you can't expect me to be neat too !
