Mary43 Bloomin' heck! Its all go in your house this morning! Just out of curiosity, who was looking after new girlfirends 3 children? Oh, the drama and stress of it all!0
-
Am sat here at work with tears running down my face - not a good look! My boiler packed up 2 weeks ago and am waiting for the powers that be to decide whether they can justify paying out for a new one, which to me is a bit of a no brainer - if it is broken surely you replace it. That's the military system for you! I was told on Monday that approval had been given and it had gone to sub-contractor for them to contact me to arrange installation. Well I have just phoned to find out what's happening and it seems as though someone has been telling porkies! The bloke on the phone couldn't even confirm that it has been approved!
I shouted at DS8 last night because I had just got my electric bill, having to use electric heaters and the immersion for hot water and it is through the roof. He was sick in the night and I have sent him to school cause it is warmer there but I know they will send him home.
I am at my wits end. Sorry to go on but I just needed to get it out of my system.
Sorry you're having such a rotten time Suesy.
Have you tried halogen heaters? They only cost about a tenner, are quick to give good heat and don't use too much electricity.
If your son is sent home, give him a hot water bottle and blanket and extra clothes. (if you have an Aldi near you they have really cheap fleecy blankets atm.
Take care. xxx0 -
They had halogen heaters reduced to £5 or so in my local Poundstretcher (or whatever its new name is these days)0

Girlfriends children ? Well I'm beginning to wonder..................ex girlfriend says the children live with their gran and this girl isn't allowed to see them.
Girl tells me that two are at school and one (2 yr old) is at playgroup.........so don't know who or what to believe.
Our lad's main concern at the minute seems to be the lad chucked out of his house and thinking its not fair and oh dear me..........he didn't mean to smash the car into the bookshop window !!!
OH is at work...................he''s gonna get this lot when he comes home tonight..................lolMary
I'm creative -you can't expect me to be neat too !

Haribo and JoeyEmma - Thank you for your advice, when they came to fix the boiler and couldn't they left me 2 electric heaters, I was hoping that it was just a short term thing obviously not! I will look into halogen heaters at the weekend, I hadn't thought of them and they will be useful to keep in case this happens again.0

Have a look at this thread Suesy.0

Suesy Sue- I know this might sound silly but have you seen if you are eligible for a warm front grant to help with the cost of your heating. I am a nurse and have sorted one out for a couple of my patients and it has been invaluable, both got combi boilers installed for no cost. They do take a bit of time to install them though. If you are on certain benefits you can apply.0

JoeyEmma, I live in military accommodation (am a Sergeant in the Army) and all out repairs are done through Modern Housing Solutions (MHS) who are contracted to maintain the houses. Unfortunately I earn too much (but as a single mum it soon goes!) to be eligible for grants. MHS approval for a new boiler can take upto 10 working days then you have to wait for a sub-contractor to contact you to arrange installation. I was told approval had gone through on Monday - yeah! and to wait for the sub-contractor to call - no I can't call them! I phoned this morning to find out when they would call to be told that it doesn't look like the approval has gone through yet - my hopes of having a lovely warm house for the weekend were dashed!0

Hi everyone,
sorry to hear you`re having such a tough time Suesysue, i hope that things get better for you soon.
I woke up well after 9 this morning due to me being unable to sleep last night and staying up reading on here until the wee small hours.
As a result not a great deal has been done so far, just the usual, dw, wm etc.
Shortly i`ll be off to clean and tidy the kitchen and then upstairs to do the dusting and hoovering.
With a bit of luck i`ll get some of the downstairs done today too before it`s back into the kitchen to prepare the tea and get some cooking done.
I only have to work a very short shift today so i`m hoping to work miracles and i`ve also promised myself to do a little ironing each day until the mountain has gone ( i`m not an ironing person at all)
Have a good day everyone.
SDPlanning on starting the GC again soon0
