Lose Weight 18

Hi all. It's good to be able to read the thread every day - I did miss it while I was away. I may not be a major poster but I do like to keep up with every one and report in on how I am doing. I find that a weekly weigh in gives me structure that I otherwise wouldn't have and my DH or mother just don't seem to be the same as telling you guys how I have done.
My nest problem is knowing when to stop trying to lose weight and move on to maintenance. I never really started this journey with a definite target and gradually my holiday become the goal - well that and my wedding dress fitting me again after 5+ years which it may well do now (can't try it on until early March when I go back to my parents' house). The thing is that I think that I shoudl stop trying to lose weight when I like what I see in the mirror, but i am starting to think that I will never like what I see in the mirror but that doesn't mean i should continue to lose weight. At the end of the day, what I actually weigh is arbitrary if I still feel that I am too fat - right? or not? So should i aim for x stone y or should I aim for a size z. I just don't know the answer...
Only you have the answer because it is all about inner confidence that exudes outwards.
Many friends do it differently, one does it by the tightness of the clothes and goes back to cutting back to save her buying the next size up, some go on what other people say, their comments keep them going, what H thinks, what they look at when they stand infront of the mirror naked, there is no woman or man for that matter that will be happy with the entirety but the trick is to list and remember the positive, even if it just the calves or the inside of the knees, or legs, or arm rather than I hate my stomach, I hate this and that....
I don't know the answer but I do know that your happiness cannot depend on the scales, what you eat, when you eat it, depriving yourself is not the way to happiness, moderation, smaller portion sizes, more exercise
make it a part of your life, not life itself.
If what you see in the mirror is causing you a huge amount of distress you could try counselling theraphy for them to help you come to terms with it and learn to see it a different way, if it is not that bad then you could try listening to what other people say about you and take every positive comment and build on that.
There has to be a time when it stops, when your happiness is more important than the number on the scales.0 -

Hi all
Just a quick fly popping on (while no-one is looking) to post a 2lb loss for me this week. I really hate not being able to catch up properly.
Hope everyone is well - hugs to those who need them0 -
Hi,
I've not been on for a week and a half due to having my self assessment to do for the Inland Revenue and lots of oter bits! So far a 1lb gain not v good but official weigh in is Wednesday so will see if I can atleast go to a zero loss by then! I have been very bad though has an Indian takeaway at friends and then tea at another friends which was not exactly healthy. I'm back on the ban wagon now though! I would like to join something like weight watchers but without the program as I like to follow my own plan (well except this last week!) but feel I would benefit from a weekly weigh in so I know the figure is accurate and if I had to stand on the scales infront of someone I think it would help! Anyone know if you can see a dietrician or nurse at the Dr's or not? or if there's any other groups out there?Started doing competitions: 08/10/2007, Won: Spiderman 3 DVD0 -
I really need to give myself a shake and get back on here properly. I feel Ive missed sooooo much. Still too many dark clouds hanging around just now for me to contribute much.
Still I lost 2lbs this week (oh and 1lb last week, can that be added to the chart?) So my loss is now standing at 9.5 stones(Least that put a smile on my miserable face lol)
Hope everyone else is having a good week

Shame that things are not on your side at the moment but well done on staying focussed with the weight loss. Great losses week on week.0
