  • Thanks Bb, I know it can work and you don't sound preachy at all. About 8 years ago I lost over 2 stone with SW, never comitted fully 100% I don't think, but I was chuffed, kept the weight off for ages, ate 'normally' (unhealthy!) and eventually put it all back on and more. I need to do this more than ever for me now, the thought of getting thinner and healthier is even more appealing than choc and I know once I start seeing results i will do even better.

    Catch you all tomorrow x

Ok i've been thinking about it and thinking of joining WW getting the info and first weigh in and not staying for meeting and then just going back week 2 for a bi of motivation - hopefully a weight loss and then using the info and going alone - can I just go and get weighed? any idea on cost?

andie - the best motivation with WW is the meeting. You do get loads of tips and information there that you might not find out if you didn't stay. If you're going to join, you may as well stay for the talk too - you learn so much more about the program that way. As for cost - I think there's free registration vouchers going around in the national press (definitely saw one in the Mail on Saturday) And before anyone makes any judgements about what papers I read - I love to read newspapers and work out their political slant - something I picked up at uni and carried on, even if it does drive my Fil mad at my choice of newspaper when he visits us (a bonus in my opinion).

Anyway - the first week will be about £15, with registration. Weekly class fees are £5.50. If you go back a few pages on the thread I'd already posted load of links about WW and there's even one where you can find out your daily points allowance. Good luck and let us know how you get on.

dragon - I'm so sorry to hear about your meds and your gain. I agree with granny is there a silver lining in that the meds are working? Does it have to be steroids? My MiL uses the pain patches and finds they're a great releif

welcome Taada - stick with us and you'll find you'll do great

Congratulations to HannaB, Raphael, Anic, Starlight on great weight losses and ffm on your maintain.

Just to let you know, I'm about to have a meltdown. MiL texted OH to say see you later in the week. I made OH phone her and they'll be home on
    thursday!!!!!!!!!

dragon, go back to the Dr and explain that the tablets are making you gain weight. There are many types of the same drug and you may be able to take another for your ails and NOT gain weight.
    Don't lose heart.
I tried really hard on medication and eventually my Dr changed mine and hey presto the weight is coming off (with SW and far to slow for my liking so far, but its coming off all the same). Go Back again and again if need be.

My weigh in tonight and I've lost 2lbs this week.
Fairly happy with that after my birthday curry last Friday, then straight back on diet.

Thanks Dellybelly, I would like to stay for the meeting but it depends how quickly they get to it as i've only half an hour with it being a morning meeting (10am which is a bit late really but i'll get there 5 mins early and hope they're maybe ready early!) It's more that i'm loosing confidence in my scales as move them around and I gain 4lbs!! they're new ones too so just think some confirmation of my weight and the literature would be good. I serched for free vouchers and can get free registration until 9thFeb so if I get down there this Friday my first week will only cost £5.50 so worth a whirl I think! I just don;t want to get too hooked on point values as i'd rather calorie count as I think it will be easier long term but maybe I can be converted!

I've heard they have a kick start program too not sure if anyone has tried that? Think I could do with it as although i've lost 5lbs so far I can't tell at all and struggling already!

LilacLillie - congrats on 2lb I went for a curry too and probably wouldn't have gained if it hadn't been followed by tea at a frineds with cheesy nacho's, fajitas and baked bananas with toffee sauce and ice cream:eek: If only I could have had the willpower to ave sat there and picked at the cucumber instead of nachos and atleast not have added the toffee sauce to my pud! Back on the diet again today, went to the gym at 7am and back again in the morning I will loose weight!

Hi everyone, haven't been on for a few days and have just been trying to catch up with all the news!!

Before I start I just have to say dragon I want to send huge HUGE HUGE hugs!!!

Welcome to all the newbies. This forum (as you have already noticed) is brilliant and will help you to stay on the straight-ish and narrow-ish!

Vic - can you explain what I need to do with my artichoke?!?!?! :D

BB - Hi!! Definately agree with you recommending the lanes and of course no visit to Brighton is complete without a stroll along the tacky pier! (doughnuts optional)!

Missy - Well done with your ebay selling you are almost motivating me to sell..............something .................wonder how much OH is worth?????

I've had my bill for the car £590 - better than I thought but the major bummer is it's still not running right, and now they don't know what is wrong with it, i'm trying to avoid a trip to caffyns though as their labour is £!£!£!£!

I haven't been on recently as my ds has conjunctivitis and tonsillitis and I haven't been too well either, diet has been so-so, i've had a raging sore throat so didn't eat much for a couple of days but picked at stupid stuff like left over chocolate cake but i'm trying not to kick myself too much! I'll be happy with another sts this week but we'll see on weds!

Well done to everyone who has lost already! And good luck to everyone yet to weigh!
    Goal weight....lighter than when I started :D

Ohhhhhh! The pier donuts:smileyhea . I'm never realised they were optional :rotfl:
Hope you and ds feel better soon - if you are ill, you can't worry to much about dieting.
Delly - when you m-i-l arrives, just promise me you'll not be near any sharpe or heavy, but throwable impliments...spank.gif
Some fab smilies from mooning granny, raphael & delly:T
Me too Bargainb, missyg is almost motivating me to sell stuff on ebay - it's the photographing and downloading images that puts me off.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once
