Hello all, hope everyone's feeling good today! I am having the luxury of a relatively quiet day today :D

Bargain babe this might sound like a strange question but you mentioned a while ago about having to prepare a kind of inventory for your insurers. If it's not too personal may I ask what level of detail they wanted? For example could you have put "100 books" or would they want a list of every title?

Brighton belle I have ordered a hardback book about tracing your family history as the gift, as I thought that would be more enduring as a retirement present than magazines - if she gets into it I could do the magazine subscription for Christmas! I think she will love it, I'm all excited now.

Gpuk sorry about the repair bill, I'm sure you could offset that partly with a bit of ebay selling! Go on, you know you want to! I know what BB means about the photographing though, that part is a pain. I break it down so that during the week before I'm listing I'll collect stuff into the corner of my office as and when I feel like it, 3 days before listing is photo day, 2 days before is wording day, 1 day before is checking and tweaking. It doesn't seem so daunting when it's in short doses.

HannaB lol at Portsmouth Belle :rotfl: I'm not a pancakey person either, nor am I particularly into eating certain things on a certain day just because everyone else is doing it :p (apologies to the traditionalists).

Efrieze interesting observations there. What is perfect when it comes to appearance? Perfect to me is being the best I can realistically be, that means keeping a slim figure, doing my best to be fit and healthy, looking after my skin, having good hygiene. Life's just too short to crave being something I can never be in terms of appearance. Good enough is my perfect :) Perhaps the answer lies in re-evaluating your idea of perfection?

Congrats to everyone who has posted a loss this week :D(Unofficially my 1lb gain had gone when I did my 'daily' weigh in this morning :p so it was almost a STS!)

.... lol missyg when I read this I got an image of Charley from Big Brother, it's just how she used to say things.

It's awfully quiet on here today.
  • LOL HannahB: I think I would have been Portsmouth Pandora (or 'PortmouthIcan't stand living inthisplace').
Having sts for 13 days this morning I had put 1lb on. Humpf! However due to tenderness in certain areas I reckon it's totm water retension (er and maybe a few too many bourbons). So I thought, nevermind, be extra good today ad it'll probably have gone by tomorrow and you can post a weigh in then. Suddenly remembered it's pancake day flipcake.gif, so forget it! So a 1lb on please granny.
I will work hard to get that 1lb off again by next week. It has at least definied for me what I don't want to go higher than if poss.
I do love joining in things like pancake day missyg - but I feel the same as you do on that re 4x4's, latest mobile etc. I think I love pday, as having have to contend with a lot of ill heath over the last 2 decades, I've often been quite isolated and missed out of many of the usual life markers/rites of passage. I love any opportunity to feel contected to the wider community such as this.
Retired lady - that's great news - always hang on to the bigger picture when you get a rotten gain and try and look at the month as a whole (makes note to follow own advice..)
    Raph, you're on a 'disiplined' roll:T .
Efrieze, I would say go for maintaining at a level that is enjoyable to maintain rather than feeling you have a lifetime of endless denial ahead of you. If, as you get slimmer and slimmer you therefore have to eat leass and less, so that it is miserable - that is no sort of life.Of course no one can trough endlessly if they want to remain healthy, but life needs to be enjoyable and food is very much a part of that. Perhaps, stricter in the week and more relaxed at weekends?
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once

.....yayyyyy that's the spirit, BB. Hope beanie don't mind me quoting her, but this really was genius "Sometimes life just gets in the way".
I went to Tesco last night for pancake mix and they hadn't got any. Not a single box of any brand, so I thought "stuff it" and bought flour and butter instead. The butter will just get passed around to the MiL when I've taken my bit out, but does anyone have a LW use for about 400g of plain flour please? :o

Oh I always make my own ajax, it just don't seem right using a mix. Can't help you with the flour - I buy one of those really small bags. Anything over gets used up on baking treats for mr BB. And it's got to be sugar and lemon on top. Accept no immitations:D .
PS another great quote in your sig!

..hehehe there will be sugar and lemon for sure BB, but for some reason I'm getting the urge to puree some blueberries and add that to some pancakes. I'm really quite excited about making them from scratch as I've never done it before, and now I wonder why I ever spoilt it with a mix. It's like the whole pancake day thing... it's just so 'homely'. Even men with steel hearts love a pancake or 8 on pancake day.

Re the sig, it took me years before I found out what a clever play on words that was :o. I wish I was bright lol.

..... lol don't do that, it was much more an observation than a comparison. Big Brother has had its fair share of nice folks on it, I should add.... we don't wanna be done for stereotyping :)

Hey Ajax, where does butter come into the equation? Recipe for 6 pancakes = 4oz plain flour (sorry, usually cook metric but this is ye olde mum's recipe:D ) 2 eggs and 1/2 pint milk. Took 3 mins to put together and whisk. Waiting for someone else to explain the hidden meaning in sig so I don't have to cnofess to naive innocence:o
Huge well done to Victory for a sts:T :T
