Peeps, I've had a horrid day. Saw the rheumatologist for the first time and she was arrogant, dismissive and completely uninterested in me as an individual. It's hard enough to come to terms with this disabling condition without having to deal with someone like that.:(I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0

Bb~Sorry to hear that the rheumatologist was not a nice lady.

Hey all,
Sorry not been posting as frequently as I could. We've discovered the TV show Heroes and my OH keep insisting we watch some of the boxset in the evenings when I get home. Really good show, but it's taking over my life!!!
Not been a bad week diet-wise so far, still had a couple of choccy biccies, but I'm just taking note of everything in my little pink diary. I've bought some "nearly too tight" trousers for work, so if I over indulged I can't breathe. Lol!
I have come to a conclusion I cannot on this God-given green Earth ever do 10,000 steps in a day. Below are my pedometer readings for the week:
Friday...5029 (pedometer arrived in Friday's post)
Saturday...7808
Sunday...3881 (very lazy day)
Monday...7002
Tuesday...6039
Wednesday...7040
So far today...6989 (I see a pattern forming...)
This is with me doing 20 minutes on my stepper each day and going for a short walk in the evenings when I get home from work. I hate having a desk job sometimes. I think I need to buy myself a dog to walk:D
Suggs - Love the piccie of the Wombles
Granny - Cheers for the chart as always.
HxPlease continue to hold the line. Your call is very important to us and will be answered by next available robot...0 -
Hi all,
Sorry if I miss anyone out - unfortunately there are too many pages since my last log in to try and catch up.
Thanks Granny for doing the chart again this week. I hate to be a nuisance though but you forgot to add my 2lb loss into the chart (Post #673). Sorry to muck you up.
Congratulations to Scottishchick, Bluecorn and Suggs for the fantastic losses and the worthy titles of Slimmer of the Week and Slimmer of the Month.
Well done to all the losers and maintainers and good luck for next week to the gainers.
A special mention also to Vix - it has been a long time to get there but that first lb is always the most memorable!!
So sorry to hear about your hard time at the rheumatologist Belle. I know it won't help your back but big hugs from me.
Suggs - I hope you feel totally guilty now - I am walking about the house singing "Underground, Overground, Wombling free, the Wombles of Wimbledon Common are we......" and can't get the song out of my head. In fact (okay - no laughing) the Wombles were the first concert I ever went to see in the Apollo in Glasgow - okay I was only 9 at the time and it was a lifetime ago but I can still remember it - sad or what.
KPC - Re appraisals - I haven't had one for the past three years now - I just keep telling my boss to put the same as the year before and he obliges by doing so. Unfortunately, due to our re-structuring at work I have a new boss and I don't think they will take the same approach. Like Suggs says it is a confidence thing and I have absolutely none - they are my worst nightmare.
Congratulations Em - I am delighted for you.0 -
i think it's a confidence thing for me too - when I worked at McD's 'appraisal' actually meant 'lets find some really nitpicky reasons not to give you a payrise . . ooh, there's a button missing off your shirt!' In my first proper job as a sales rep i was really excited about my appraisal, prepped for weeks was thoughtful, open and honest about my needs, strength and weaknesses . . . a week later they turned it all against me and sacked me. So no surprise that I don't like them. Our company has got a management consultant in who is really big on all this sort of stuff and is doing all the account managers appraisals now, including my boss. Whats really weird though is that she's engaged to one of them - she'll probably have to be extra hard on him to prove she isn't being soft which can't be fun for either of them. Still, my current boss actually has no idea about how i do what I do so that will stand me in good stead. Victory, good luck in dealing with your boss!
BB can you request another consultant - sounds like todays was a bit of a dementor!
Suggs, I think I got that email too - inappropriate childrens books? I like 'the very angry caterpillar'. but I have no idea how to post it on here.0 -
HI guys sorry I haven't been about too much but it's been hectic here recently.
Unfortunately we lost O/H's nan last weekend so we have been sorting out house and funeral arrangements.
Emmalis congrats !:T
also congrats to everyone who managed the 5lb challenge for Jan, and to those who struggled don't despair it gets to us all at one point or another.
GN - good job with the chart
I have lost a further 1lb this week, our instructor has gone away for 8 weeks to New Zaland and we have a temporary instructor in her place, not sure how I feel about it but will give her a shot next week. We have been set a "sponsored slim challenge" for the time she is away, I have personally been set a target of 11.5lbs as it will take me to my next rounded off stone and just over the 4.5stone mark!!! I was given a lower target initially but she decided that I should have enough motivation:eek: I think the fact that I was only one of two to fill in our little black dresses ( 1lb per square ) in time for Xmas. For doing this I got to choose whatever I liked from the RC catalogue so have a spanking new electric wok on it's way to me:p
At my instructors request I also took in a before and during photo which she showed round teh class and only 4 people worked out it was me immediately!Weight loss since 01/08/07 - 72 lbs:j0 -
Thanks for the link BB them seem great and its only a tenner, so I will reserve it and pick it up in store! Sorry to hear that the rheumatologist was so crap, as KPC said I think you should get another one, I know wat u mean tho cos I when I was getting physio for my lower back the lady didn't take me seriously at all, but then when she realised it was serious she got a bit better!!
Beanielou sorry love i lost you here?
Is there not a map thingy on the site?
Well done on the loss jules, Suggs I love the wombles thing, show what our great society is turning into!

Eww, I used to hate appraisals KPC! Always felt a bit like sitting outside the headmasters office... Didn't matter that I knew I'd done what I was supposed to, I could guarantee I'd spend the whole day before cringing and panicking. I get to panic over assessments now instead lol.
Hangover is fine now - mile and half walk in the pouring rain does wonders for things like that!!
And not that I want to make anyone jealous.... But I'm going to see the England Ladies rugby match on Saturday!! Woo!! Free ticket as well, can't beat a day out like that**"Cheer up, it could get worse" - I cheered up, and look, it got worse!**0 -
well done jules:j
Just found out that the nasty boss is off next week on meetings so will not see her all that week so happy, don't have to make a decision about my job for another week so that is good, talked to my sis and she says that she has no management skills and should not be a boss:rolleyes:
Just paid for the flights to spain, crumbs already feb is looking like another long month:rotfl: baked beans on toast for dinner me thinks:rotfl: :rotfl:0 -
yay, reprieve for victory!
Found this whilst pulling together my news bulletin for the day . . .
Women want to be Nigella
Source: Daily Telegraph 31-01-2008
Nigella Lawson has topped a poll of role models for British women in their 30s.
In a poll for Red magazine Nigella was voted "most envied woman", followed by author JK Rowling and presenter Davina McCall. Red editor Sam Baker said: "Nigella seems to command all she surveys and celebrates everything the home and family have to offer."0
