    Morning everyone!!

Thanks a bunch granny for the chart we appreciate your hard work.

Good on ya Scottish Chick for SOTW and Bluecorn/Suggs for the losses over last months challenge!

WISHWASCRICH..me thinks you spell it- welcome!!!

BB- Do SW have weekly meetings like WW then? - anyone can answer...

Thanks also to ajax and delly for that points calculator..I think I am more inclined to WW because there is more control and I am scared I will just binge out on SW....

Is it possible to follow both WW and SW, changing on alternate weeks? lol...I know it is random and probably not practical but I thought i'd ask....

Have a great day guys...I will be putting my head down in the wonders of Modern Legal History....wooohooo!

    xx

.....yes, and I believe (though don't kill me if I'm wrong) that SW have more members than WW

.....count your WW points first before you commit. You would need to use 2 of your points on calciyummy stuff like milk or cheese and also ensure you get fibre in the rest of your points. If you'd only get 20 a day and save 2 for milk, I can't imagine getting by on 18 a day myself.

......sure it's possible. Whether or not you would lose any weight is another debate altogether tho ;) We did actually muse this over about 9 months ago but no-one had the answer. My feeling is that changing every week would do no good, but every 2 or 3 months would be realistic and maybe even sensible, as you'd bias between different food types.

Thanks ajax..I worked my points to be 22. I think I will do WW for like 2/3 months as you said, then evaluate it, if it is going really well I will stick if not I will swap over to SW, that gives me enough time before my holiday in June!!

So what do I do know, do I need to find my nearest WW and how much does it cost? Any top up or add on fees? This will help with my budgeting.

    I'm well exicted now!!

    Great stuff xx;)

Sound a good plan QT. Yes, find your nearest one (find ww online and you enter your postcode and they will give you all the meetings near you). At the meeting you will get the books/info and explanation that you need to get going. And then you can ask on here for anything else. Often there is money off the initial joining fee and then you pay a weekly amount. I believe it is worth going to the meetings initially while you get the hang of it.
Certainly with SW it is well worth getting the proper explanation of the system from the consultant and the books are way cheaper at the meeting than getting them off ebay. Give ww a go and see how you get on. And as suggested, you can always swop after a few months if you find you are miserably hungry. Plenty of peeps on here get on really well with ww so it's just down to individual needs/choice. I wouldn't recommend a weekly swap of plan - I don't think you would have good weight loss as the priciples for each one are a lttle too different.
This feels a positive step QT and I feel excited for you too!!
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once

Thanks grannynise for all the time and effort that you again put into the chart for us all :T Well done scottishchick :j :j SOTW and bluecorn :j :j SOTM. Poohbear I hope that you are feeling better this morning about things, as you can see from the chart you are not alone in gaining weight so :grouphug: and let's turn the corner together and put it behind us ;) ...

...delly Do try and find some time for yourself after you have done this for your FiL :A it's not so long back when you were feeling very rough and it takes a while for the body to heal fully, even if we think that we are okay - but what a family !! at least you'll be able to look them square in the eye when anything happens and they'll make sure that they're at the front  ...

...I've been amazed to read about the ironing  :o and things are about to take a drastic turn here on Planet Petrichor from now on :rotfl: :rotfl: (I'm still plagued by childhood memories of not doing things correctly and being accused of laziness and taking the easy way out etc etc) MrP has always said why are you ironing that etc - let's see if he notices and moans ;) I shall tell him all of you said I could :p ...

...QT I did WW once but found that I was always hungry and didn't lose as much weight as when I did it myself (calorie counting), I only ended up with 20 points at the most and then it soon went down to 18 but I must admit that I did point vegetables :oand you should count them mostly as free. I just ended up going and getting weighed but still paying them the money. So whatever plan you chose, just make sure that you adhere to it, so that you get value for the expense. Good luck :D ...

    xxxx
I wish that I could be the oldest AND wisest....sadly it's not the latter :p but my time will come _party_ wooooh hoooh! Beware!!!!!!!

.....they may well be still doing free registration at class, which would save about £10 initially I think. After that you're talking about a fiver a week for a class. The points system is easy to work out, you can literally do your shopping and work out the points of anything in your head as you go along. Only a suggestion, but the ultimate MSE way to do it would be to go to the first class, get the main book and then not go again. You'll have spent a fiver if there's no reg fee and will have the gubbins of the system written down for you. They would be likely to take a dim view of that, so it would just depend on how you felt you'd cope with the awkwardness of talking to them if they called you. I'm sure not everyone gives their genuine phone number ;)

......the book will tell you which vegetables/fruits are free. We've debated the merits of "free" veg on here and I think the concensus was that they are only free when fresh. Don't even mention the "Great Tinned Tomatoes Bloodbath Of 2007" - small children were trampled in the exodus. :D

As a rule of thumb, if vegetables taste crap (eg lettuce, celery) then they are free. If they are nice though (spuds, parsnips) then you count the points. Potatoes are a point per 90g, parsnips a point per 100g.
  • if you do ww online you get £15 from quidco. Take a look in the vouchers thread too, you might get something from there. To paraphrase Ajax, I think between the 2 it comes down to a straight choice between what your weaknesses are. If it's pasta and potatoes and similar carb foods then SW is ace. However, they severely spank you for bread and booze.

feeling v glum, My boss had forgotten about my appraisal - but he's just gone in for his - which means the second he comes out he'll want to schedule mine. I hate appraisals. Why can't they just leave me alone to do the job? I don't care what 'level' i'm at or what 'management behaviours' I'm displaying. I like my job, I'm good at my job, and the people I work with like my work. Isn't that good enough? rassum frassum. Off to print out reams of 'evidence' now, that'll teach em.

yay Pet, for slacking off the ironing! And poor Pixie, I hope it was worth it.
