Good q seren... I'm not fond of either method. I think it's too easy for the manufacturers to hide the true story. On things like ready meals, they can put "per half portion" to make everything look good, but many people will be eating a whole portion. They can load up on sugars and salts to make the fat content look healthier, etc. There are also good natural foods which may be high in calories but have excellent nutritional value, which could get passed over in favour of some packaged and processed junk full of artificial rubbish but showing up as a "green" traffic light...

That is SO true! I nearly had a heartattack the other day, my mum bought that new chocolate bread and butter pudding that marks and spencer keep advertising on the telly, it said on the packet a serving was 1/2 a pack, but my mum said it was too rich to eat half so they'd just had a 1/4 each, she then left the rest for me, on the surface didn't look to bad (per 100g) but when i turned the packet over it worked out that 1/2 a serving was ........................ 985kcals:eek:

My mum had no idea it was so high.....needless to say it went straight in the bin!!!
    Goal weight....lighter than when I started :D

1lb loss for me, every little helps I suppose, Must admit to be bit down about it though, I been strict on bread side of things and now on red milk altogether with not even sweetners.

Yeah well done bluecorn, 1lb loss is better than no lose or a gain!

Thanks everyone for helping me with my calories/crisps/snacks issues! I am going to do the 2 bar kitkat/mini buttons for my chocolate needs and stick to the low calorie crisps mentioned! One day I would like to get rid of them all together, but one day at a time eh.

I am clearer now, thanks missyg for explaining the whole kcal thing, that really helped at least I know it means 1000 calories now, which is kinda scary..lol

I keep hearing about raisins as snacks, it is a shame I am some a fussy eater, maybe I need to brainwash myself into eating them now.

    Cheers all,

OK, so now I have finally got my exercise routine under control, it's time to get my eating under control.

I am in 2 minds as to whether to join Slimming World. I have looked at the menus, plans and stuff and it seems OK, once you get your head round it, something I could do for the whole family. But, can I really justify £4.50 a week just to get weighed? I have tried following another slimming plan "at home" and failed miserably, so I think I would need the support.

On the other hand, I have looked at my Paul McKenna (AGAIN) and can totally understand his theory. I listened to the CD last night, and even though I was fully prepared to eat a whole lasagne at lunchtime, I just couldn't do it.

I am really only looking to lose (and would be happy with) 1lb a week, which means having to wait until the end of February, at least, to see if I have managed half a stone by then. I am not weighing myself evey week as i tend to gain about 10lbs at totm (even with a mirena coil!), and if I saw that gain on the scales it would throw me right off course.

Evenings, esp Friday, and weekends are my weakest times, due to lack of routine.

Any advice and / or support would be great

Hi guys - I put 1lb on this week. I've had a bit of a picky time as my mum & dad decided that they would come & help us decorate our lounge at the weekend which meant grab what you can to eat when you can probably gonna be the same this weekend as they're coming back to finish the job.

Anyway got to go & cook dinner in a bit. then I'm having a long soak & an early night cos I gotta get up early tomorrow & get DD up, fed, dressed & out the door cos I got a dr's appointment at 8.10 its the only appointment I could get this week with my usual dr. i don't normally get up till 9.00 when DD gets up so i guess I'll get up at the last minute, get DD dressed & give her her breakfast when I get back from the drs.

Right i'm off now. take care emxx
Life is like a box of chocs ..... i've got a soft centre but I ate the whole box.

Hello everyone I have lost nothing this week *cries* I am thinking of joining weightwatchers online, they have a free trial week but as far as I can tell it's either £49.95 for 3 months or 1 month at £39.90! which is expensive to me. then I think £9.95 a month. I presume there's a joining fee of about £30 which to me is a ripoff - I can't afford it! Anyone got any ideas to being able to count points etc and get WW recipes etc but without paying either £49.95 or £39.90 - neither of which I have.

    This dieting is hard..........................:o

Well it seems to have woprked --- the total losses this week are fantastic. But actually I'm a sweetie .... love-smiley-001.gif

Stand by for the chart as it is now officially closed for this week. But don't hold your breath, I have to understand the technical bit now to transfer my really rather good Excel chart ( I can do that bit) using some things I've never even heard of. Thanks for the offer of help Delly --- don't go away.
