Andie2308- check this site out http://www.cspinet.org/nah/chinese.html it seems the only good thing is the soups, stir fry green beans, shrimps with lobster sauce and stir fried veg..maybe the restaurant can make you a special stir fry mix with loads of veg and less oil...
Anyway time for me to get outta bed and start doing some studying!
Have a good day all!
QT x
Thanks QT I had a look at the website and yikes I knew Chinese was really salty and fatty but you're right everything is soooo bad!!! I think i'll go for the hot and sour soup and some sort of veggie dish with boiled rice - although really I'd love to order mixed starter to share with duck pancakes and chicken in cashew nuts with egg fried rice!!! However I am determined to loose weight so this will be a good test of my willpower!I'm sure when I used to go to sw classes they used to say if you go for a chinese the best thing to have was something like plain boiled rice with chicken and mushrooms, avoid anthing that obviously been deep fried eg spring rolls and also avoid things in batter eg chicken balls.....mmmmmm yummmm, i want a chinese now :rotfl: :rotfl:
Gpuk thanks for the advice it seems inline with the link from QT - no fun at all I wish we were going to an Italian or English restaurant there's a lot more fun and tasty options that won't completely ruin your diet!
Thanks for the great advice:TStarted doing competitions: 08/10/2007, Won: Spiderman 3 DVD0 -
Thanks for that dellybelly. After having a moan to my youngest daughter, she has said she will pay the intial joining fee for me and I would only have to pay the £9.95 a month. I'm sure it's been asked before but does anyone think WW online is any good? Can't afford the classes and it wouldn't be easy to get to one anyway, so this seems the only way to go for me at this point, but I would hate to pay for 3 months online and find it was no good!
But I do need help with my committment to my diet, and I'm desperate to lose weight. What do you lovely peeps think?
Thanks0 -

To be perfectly honest, I have no idea about the WW online service as I go to classes... even then I only go cos I need the discipline of the weight in once a week. I find I get the best support here on this forum and on the minimins.com ww forum. I can go on any time.
It might just be worth your while to join the class and get the books or use the Ww at home service (see the magazines). There are loads of vouchers about at the mo for free registration for ww. so all you'll have to pay is the class fee.and use this forum and t'internet in general for your support.Goal for 09: Get fit and foxy. target weight 11st. 5/80.Get out of dead end job and work for career I always wanted.0 -
well here goes .... first attempt at posting the chart .... if it works it's thanks to Dellybelly !0

OK, so now I have finally got my exercise routine under control, it's time to get my eating under control.
I am in 2 minds as to whether to join Slimming World. I have looked at the menus, plans and stuff and it seems OK, once you get your head round it, something I could do for the whole family. But, can I really justify £4.50 a week just to get weighed? I have tried following another slimming plan "at home" and failed miserably, so I think I would need the support.
On the other hand, I have looked at my Paul McKenna (AGAIN) and can totally understand his theory. I listened to the CD last night, and even though I was fully prepared to eat a whole lasagne at lunchtime, I just couldn't do it.
I am really only looking to lose (and would be happy with) 1lb a week, which means having to wait until the end of February, at least, to see if I have managed half a stone by then. I am not weighing myself evey week as i tend to gain about 10lbs at totm (even with a mirena coil!), and if I saw that gain on the scales it would throw me right off course.
Evenings, esp Friday, and weekends are my weakest times, due to lack of routine.
Any advice and / or support would be great
Hi Loobie - well done on getting your exercise under control - that's an excellent start. I'm an SW fan and once I got my head round the plan found I ate delicious meals and never went hungry. Perhaps try not to see it as £4.50 'just to get weighed'. See it as £4.50 a week x 6 months = £117 (less 6 free weeks for holidays or illness and another if you lose 10% body weight)investment in your health and welfare and future, paying for support (it is best to stay to meetings to get to know a few people if you can), that extra weigh in commitment and for the knowledge that has gone into a great eating plan. Especially if you know you have failed before going it alone. Having said that some peeps here do very well 'on their own' with us here on the forum. Others like me spend 6 months going to meeting and using this forum along side it: I am now going it alone with the forum. Whatever you decide, goodluck and stick with us, the more you post the more we can help and learn from you too.
Pingu - we are always gentle on this forum, so don't worry. Well done on losing weight. I think the only way you can improve muscle tone is by exercise, and I know very little about this side of things but there are plenty of excercisers on the thread who can help youI try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0 -

Thanks Delly!!! :T :T
Obviously the SOW is Brighton Belle --- whether she likes it or not.
I've highlighted new peeps and restarters in green.
The total weight loss for the week was 47 lbs. Last week was 40lb, the week before was 38lb and the first week of this month was a measly 4.6 lb. So hey-- you are scared of granny! (Delly won't be, she now knows that I am a complete idiot) Next week (week 5) the sky's the limit.
Please let me know of any errors or people I've missed off. Any mistakes are entirely mine.
Delly I'll start practising now for next week.0 -
WELL DONE GRANNYNISE AND THANKYOU:T
I see I've been overuled and made 'SOW' of the week. Oink oink, trotters definitely weren't in the trough to get that one. Many thanks though. No bread and butter pudding for Bb tonight...I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0
