  • Morning all - just want to report in with a 1lb loss this week, brings me up to a total so far of 23.5lb since I started with RC classes at the end of August last year. :j

BB - congrats on SOTW, I know you've not been well and am so pleased you're feeling better, it's such a horrible time of year all around for illness and general depression.......or is that just me?!

KPC, am sending you much sympathy too, not only having to contend with that nasty virus thing but also with an OH with no fags - I know what mine is like when he doesn't have any and isn't even ill! Lots of hugs coming your way:grouphug: and to everyone else who is feeling a little off par at the moment.

The 'chat' bit at class last night was all about how hard it can be to maintain a positive mental attitude at times, as apparently between the 3rd and 6th week is when people struggle the most on their weight loss journey, particularly after the challenge that is the Christmas period. We need to focus on exactly what we have achieved, whether it be pounds off or inches off and take pride in the fact that irrespective of whether we have lost any more or are plateauing off when ideally we don't want to, at least we are still in better, lighter, fitter shape than we were before we started out - and will continue to be so.

Sorry, I started getting a bit soap boxy then!!! :o Can't help it sometimes I'm afraid, especially when I see the fantastic achievements on the charts on here and the massive changes that people have made alongside the support given to so many of us others, it makes me proud to have found this board and to be a part of it! (Even if I haven't been able to get in for a while......!!!:D )

  • great advice justmarried! Getting my appetite back slowly but the symptoms remain alas. Was supposed to be going to my parents tomorrow to celebrate my dad's 60th but nhs direct says stay away from people until you've had 48 hours of being symptom free which isn't happening. Can't believe my dad is 60! In my mind he's sort of stuck at 40 which is the first big birthday I remember himhaving. I rang my mum to tell her we weren't going and she said that although he was upset that i was ill he's secretly quite glad - he hates a fuss and hasalready cancelled the meal out she booked and got his lip out because she bought a birthday cake. Men are funny creatures!

Morning All, Just thought I should pop my head around the door see whose in :)

Things I think have settled down since the weekend, I have the children this weekend, so I hopeful to make DS feel better then. I also hope to be playing rugby on saturday, just got to get some decent tape for straping my finger.

There has been some fantasic losses this week so a big well done to each and everyone of you, I would list the names, but instead BB your a star and well deserving of SOTW, after watching Harry Hill TV Burp, I cant read SOTW without hearing done ala on his show :rotfl:Grannynise thanks also for doing the chart, it is apprciated. KPC I hope your feeling better soon, your dads 60th? my parents are 65

Couple of things I have noticed, when I weigh myself on the new digital scales, the numbers after the decimal point will be in tenths of a lb whereas a oz is a fourteenth. Did that make sense? Anyways youneed to multiply the number after the decimal point by 1.4 to gain a correct oz reading. I maybe talking to the converted and I missed this before though. Bails are you still looking at a set of scales? cos I noticed Lloyds Pharmacy are doing some reduced by £25 to £15?? just a thought

Secondly I do tend to download podcasts and in the gym yesterday was listening to a Simon Mayo podcast with Paul McKenna, now the premise was about his new version of the 'Think yourself thin' book. What interested me was the psychology of your thinking and even speech writing for the US elections, so much so, that I am going to have to listen again, but it seems a lot of what he said was simple basic information but its the positive twist that makes it better :) if anyone wants it, its a 12mb mp3 I have??

Anyways I trust all is well and victory is ignoring her hungry pangs ;) I will hit the gym today and have twice reduce the cv content and used weights as well this week. So I am slowy making the changes to try and maintian, but I know I have failed this week, but trying to jinx myself for tomorrows weighin.

    Keep smiling

    Morning all!

OK first of all can everyone please STOPPP thinking that 1lb is only a small loss and something to be disappointed over! A 1lb loss per week is 52lbs a year or over three and a half stone!

A 1lb loss means you have created around 3,500 calorie deficit either through your diet or exercise or both in one week and that requires effort! It's healthy & sustainable weight loss and allows your skin elasticity to keep up with your loss. Please folks be proud of your 1lb losses!!!

Thanks, needed to get that off my chest :p

QT, I'm a fussy eater too, I'm allergic to a lot of fruit and I don't care much for green veg so I struggle to get the 5 a day. The rest of my diet is fine, it's just that one area. I take a good multi vitamin each day and try my best with the fruit & veg that I do eat. I don't drink alcohol or tea and coffee, or smoke and I get lots of exercise so I just hope it makes up for this area of my diet which I know is lacking a bit. In what way are you a fussy eater?

Grannynise you lovely person! Thank you for the chart it looks fab as always! Oh my gosh how ironic, I made the 5lb challenge for the first time, in my first month as a maintainer?!!! :rotfl: :rotfl:

Loobie, I've never joined one of the clubs but £4.50 per week doesn't sound like too much, I bet you will more than make up for that on your grocery bill or by cutting out extra snacks!

Pingu, hi and welcome! Congratulations on losing the weight. I don't think there are any foods you can eat to improve your muscle tone, it's exercise you need. For stomach I have an abs workout dvd, and a rowing action exerciser which a BRILLIANT space-saving alternative to a rowing machine. I also swear by the V-pose for tightening my stomach!

Amibovered - post away to anything and everything that takes your fancy!

KPC, glad you've improved from the first night, hope you're better again today and over it very quickly. Sending lots of get well vibes your way.

Victory - at least you've spotted the warning signs early, if you can get through today without 'going for it' (as you call it!) I will be so proud of you!!!

I'm after a piece of advice guys if possible. Next week I am attending a family funeral and as many of you know I have very few clothes left after weight loss clearout etc. I am planning to wear my black cords and a black long sleeve t-shirt which are the only black things I have that fit me (apart from jeans which obv are a no-no). I have a dark grey tailored coat which is smart.

What I would like to know is whether anyone is likely to be offended that I'm not wearing a smart suit? I won't be looking scruffy, but I won't be as smart as some there and I would normally wear a suit to such occasions. I just don't feel I can justify the expense of buying one when I will probably only wear it once...

I will feel perfectly OK if others are smarter that part doesn't bother me, I just don't want to upset anyone or break etiquette, if you see what I mean.

p.s. Borrowing something isn't an option unfortunately.

    Hi

Have decided as I am at goal I need to put less pressure upon myself and although I could do with losing some more weight, I'm not to get too hung up on it. I didn't weigh this week as I decided I needed a week off.

Under WW rules I do only need to weigh 5 times per year and not go 5lb over goal so as long as I aim to stay at goal or under I should be ok.

I seem to be more focused yesterday and today and am ensuring I write down all passed my lips.

Any tips of maintaining would be grateful.

    Thanks,

    Jen

I think it was about October time last year in LW14. I don't remember a list of hints but I do remember you guys were talking about list-making in general!

I was at 9 stone when I joined here and wanting extra help to lose the last half-stone to get to goal. Looking it my stats it took TEN WEEKS to shift that bloomin' half stone! (And only four weeks for the next one to where I am now! :p)

Hi Jen, welcome to maintainers! I'm not in a position to offer advice yet as I haven't got my own maintaining sorted, but you never know a few pounds might still come off!

Sounds fine to me, I am in the camp thats its better to attend than not attend, but faded cords or or even jeans I personally wouldn't like. I remember attending a funeral once and all the clothes were too big. I felt really out of place, but they were just glad I could attend.

:rotfl: Thanks grannynise for all the time and hard work compiling your first chart for us :A it is much appreciated :T  I do believe that if some hadn't lost any weight this week soon did ;) when seeing your very scary monster looming up from the depths of their screen :rotfl: ...Well done Bb as SOTW :jand despite what you say it is well deserved considering that you've been through such a lot; I also think you should enter the maintainer club to join Suggs, Victory and missyg (AND funkyfunkymonkey!!) you'll be a great asset...

...There were such good losses this week (and it's nice to hear of a weekly total Gn)and congrats to bluecorn for already losing 9lb:j so far this month...

...katiepc I'm glad that you're on the mend now :j ...

...LilacLillie I do hope that you are feeling more positive than you did the other day, I was quite concerned when I read your post (cirumstances have prevented me dealing with things in time) but just go with how you feel and totally ignore those who 'say' that they have eaten this that and the other, they may well have, but in time it will catch up with them; I'm willing to put my money on you outlasting all of them and reaching your goal :j I wish I could advise you about the thyroid stuff but I'm not in a position to, I would go to your health worker (Dr /nurse) for further advice - although I do now seem to remeber someone here getting information off the web that could help, perhaps a google thing may help ...

...Retiredlady - Marion - Although your gain had upset you I was pleased that you had taken a positive thing (sorry words just aren't coming today - as per) from it. I know that you still have a long way to go, but I'm certain that you'll get there, you're far too strong a character not to :D I still remember one particular post from you last year that really helped me refocus on my issues, so please continue to inspire us all :T ...

...jenpoptab Well done on deciding that you have now reached your goal weight. Just follow the path that has helped you to get there, and do what suits you not other people. I'm allowing myself extra stuff as and when I want, sometimes I don't want any extra and this cancels out the times that I do, I also still stop at buying stuff that may tempt me which s waht helped me through last year and it works for me! BUT that's just IMVHO:o Good luck, you'll do fine :j ...

...missyg In my view a smart tailored dark grey coat outweighs black cords and T-shirt. I find that these days it's only the closest family members who wear black, the rest just wear smart stuff - but as a previous poster said it's more about the fact that you attend! Again this is just MVHO :o ...
I wish that I could be the oldest AND wisest....sadly it's not the latter :p but my time will come _party_ wooooh hoooh! Beware!!!!!!!
