  • Belated congrats to everyone who lost this week or sts :)

Still trying to shake off these blimming dark clouds that are hanging around. This week has been absolutely awful. I did have one high point though, a very special friend of mine drove a good hour or so out of his way, got stuck in horrendous traffic, so much so his car overheated and broke down, just to give me a much needed (well many much needed) cuddle. Sometimes you just cant beat a big man sized hug. Hes been texting me and phoning several times a day to see how I am & to check Im not still in bed lol

On the plus side my diet is still going ok... I think possibly cos I feel its the one thing in my life I actually have control over right now.

Even scarier than that I went to the gym at work this week!! ME at a gym!!! Im only planning on using the treadmill just now. I badly need to do exercise but just cant be a**** I find DVDs totally boring, and I cant motivate myself to go out a walk. Ive decided to pop up initially in my tea break and just do a good speed walk for 15 mins. Yes, I know its not exactly going to win me any gold medals but when I started WW I literally could barely walk the length of myself. Even standing long enough to do my dishes hurt my back & walking just to and from the car had me out of breath :( Im hoping that a few weeks of doing regular walks will maybe motivate me to do a bit more and a bit more & I reckon using the gym at work, I really have NO excuse not to do it.

Wow! Thats the most Ive posted in weeks!!

Hope everyone has a good weekend

starlight hope the cuddles helped, sometimes it may seem impossible but there is a way out and as I like to say for every negative there is a positive, you just have to find it amongst the darkness (hard I know but the blue clouds are there:D ) we are all here for you if you need anything;)

Starlight...really don' underestimate the power a little extra excercise can do...

The level and intesities or length of time don't matter at all...the fact that you're doing some extra is fantastic and will make a world of difference...I bet wth you're 15 mins on the treadmill you'll see a fantastic difference in your fitness in the next few week!

    Well done!!

    Morning all :D

Have a fab time at the gym and doing your baking Bails! Sounds like a fab weekend. I was thinking about your gym and I know you are worried about the cost but I bet you could come up with a way to bring in the same amount and therefore "neutralise" the spend (or a portion of it).

FFM, thank you!!! I am going to need all new kit! Even if I had kept any of my older stuff, it wouldn't fit me now :rotfl:

Victory, thanks for posting your update. It is great to see your latest posts about changing your way of thinking slightly. A small gain that you can easily lose again is really nothing to fear! Good luck with that and with Monday of course, I'm still sending those positive vibes your way.

Hi KPC, I know who I'll come to for advice about kitting out my new kitchen when I get it! (Not for a while yet though). My 'numbers' are all about reducing actual spend over 2007 levels, so the holiday isn't going to show up as a positive - quite the opposite after I've kitted myself out and spent money while I'm there! :rotfl: I'm not bothered, because every year there are unexpected expenses and this is a great one to have! :D But even if I had a savings target too, I would only include banked money.

Garty, welcome to the thread! Well done on starting right now too rather than putting it off! With that attitude, I'm sure you're going to have no problems!

Starlight, so sorry you've going through a rough patch, I really hope that things pick up and that for every negative right now you get a positive very soon! You have already done an amazing thing for your health by losing that weight, and whatever exercise you can manage will only help add to that!

Exercise doesn't have to mean the gym anyway, as we've said before on here. Even around the house you can exercise, such as not leaving things on the stairs - take them up immediately even if you go again 30 seconds later. You can double/triple your stair climbing in a day without even noticing! Sort out the loft or a room in the house = a good bit of stretching and weight lifting bin bags and boxes :D Stick a cd on, dance while you're cooking :D

I bet we could think of loads of other ideas - anyone got any more?

    ... it's spring - gardening !!!!
  • I'm trying to lose weight and due to sporting injuries I can't do anything that is high/medium impact (I'd love to go swimming but I can't swim so that is a slight problem!). I'm stuck in a vicious circle really I love playing sport but injury means I can't play and caused me to put on loads of weight on, the extra weight is causing more problems and making my injury worse, so to help the injury to heal I need to lose weight but to lose weight I need to exercise which I can't do...

I'm thinking Aqua aerobics might me the way to go, does anyone go and does it actually work ?? Being the larger lady I'm nervous of showing myself in public in a swim suit and I hate the communal changing areas in pools so before I take the plunge (excuse the pun :) ) I thought I'd see if anyone has had any success.

    thanks

I agree with seren a little exercise is very therapeutic for the mind, blows the cobwebs away, I can't do much but I walk whenever I can everywhere and as missyg says if the kids are here and can't get out I climb the stairs over and over, the kids love playing hide and seek so I join in for a few hours until the boredom sets in:rotfl: :D but it all adds up and helps.

The other day when bails recommended someone on here to get out and go for a walk when that was the last thing they wanted , I took that advice up , at first I was not happy at all, the cold, the effort, didn't want to etc but once over that the walk did me fantastically well and I felt so much better, much happier and in tune with the mind, it really is a great thing to do,exercise:D
I have never tried aqua aerobics but love swimming and am going to try Yoga, like missyg said put a cd on, here in the house, move the furniture around a bit and have a good 'ol dance:D

The kids love going into the woods and making a day of it with finding things from the trees for their school projects, going to the adventure playgrounds, roller blading, it is all good exercise, cycling,a brazing walk:D

Great week kymrob, sounds like a good kickstart. Excellent stuff.

It's absolutely fine to put your weight in on anyday, but it would be really helpful if you could highlight it in some way to make it easier to pick up - bigger, bold text, different colour, something like that
