Raph, 15 mins. running on the treadmill is an unrealistic target to start you off on, did he mean walking? If you can already do 5 mins running, which is fab, don't knock it, then try this instead: 1st min. walk then alternate a minute of running followed by a minute of walking. If you start to struggle, then run for 30 secs at a time. This is a much easier way of upping your running (marathon runners use this technique) and will also be more fat-burning as your heart rate stays elevated throughout the whole 15 minutes. As this becomes easier, gradually reduce the length of each walking segment and before you know it, you'll be running for the whole 15 minutes. My heart is racing with excitement just at the thought of doing this - now, that's sad!! :D

Raphael - 15 minutes running is too much to expect right off the bat. Speed walking is the way to go, interspersed with bits of running when you feel ready, building it up over time. Oh cr*p I've just worked my way through the posts and Bails said exactly the same, but phrased it better, yet again! :p

That is the general plan!! Last time I did 5 mins of running, and fast walked the last 10 mins. I plan to increase the running each time I go, by say 10 seconds and power walk the rest. As long as the heart is still working hard it's still burning fat!
I'm beginning to enjoy challanges and 15 mins seems like a good target for me. I have my review in 6 weeks, so we shall see how I improve over the coming month! :D

  • well, was pretty good last night, despite it being a potential disaster. I'm a member of my local WI (thats Wonmens Institute not Weigh In!) and we had a 'pate, plonk and poetry evening'. Well I saved Tuesday's syns too and took some bread to toast as a HEB so i wasn't eating biscuits and overall I think I stayed within my syns. This means I get to reward myself in todays syns with the lindor egg that nice Mr Tesco gave me for free. Yay! However I have been asked to model at the WI fashion show next month so now I have a big weight loss thing hanging over me - REALLY hoping that the changes I've made this week kick in and start to show a result soon!

Sorry to hear about your gain efrieze, but I'm sure you'll be back o nthe bench next week.

    Morning all,

Sorry I've not posted for a while, been catching up on a few things and basically trying to get my head straight. I have my last session of physiotherapy tonight so I am very pleased to say the whole saga with the car accident last summer is very nearly finally over. Over the past week I have been feeling really low, I very nearly picked up a cigarette after nearly 11 months of quitting. Very happy to say I didn't.

My OH, bless him, love him to bits. On Valentine's Day, be bought me a small chocolate and marizpan covered loveheart chocolate cake from Waitrose among other things. I am very pleased to say that the cake saw 3 days. Something that would have been unheard of a few months ago.

Thanks to grannynise for the chart. Well done to cazzdevil as the slimmer of the week. Great result.

Sorry I missed the weigh-in Granny. As far as I am aware though, I am a maintainer. So in essence, the chart was accurate anyway:D . I've not had a proper weigh-in since last week, I've only had a sneaky peek on Tuesday morning. But it was at the wrong time of day, on a carpet...blah...blah. Still 13st 12lbs. I think I may change my target. My brother is getting married in September and it seems like a more realistic time for a slower, more maintainable loss. Maybe aim for 30lb loss, which would take me down to 12st 3lbs based on the original weight at the start of the year.

    I dunno, see what happens.

NB - not really a shoe person, but I bought myself a lovely green bag at the weekend. Not normally into green, but it was hard to get one big enough for my notebooks, etc (amateur novelist, very amateur!:D ).
Please continue to hold the line. Your call is very important to us and will be answered by next available robot...

    I've been Money Tipped!
Good Morning all, this thread is a great inspiration, I am today going back to healthy eating after totally losing sight. Last April I lost nearly a stone with SW and once I was in the habit of it found it very easy to do, only problem is I went on holiday and from then on found it so so hard to get back on track. I have now put on all the weight I lost and really do want my nice jeans to fit again!! Today is the day, cant wait to start on Monday otherwise I will no doubt eat my body weight in junk over the weekend! Any staying on track advise would be welcome, will try and vist this board every couple of days to keep myself focused! Here goes...........................

Thanks for the chart grannynise. Oh I was night shift last night and was a little naughty. But will stick to my plan and hopefully will not have done too much damage. Well done cazzdevil. Thinking of going to the gym but not a 100% sure.

  • sensible diet, im a trying. i started keeping a food diary on nutracheck since it was a 5 day free trial. and discovered that if i dont eat any chocolate im really struggling to get the 1400calories a day they say i need.
so i ordered myself a set of food tables from amazon and shall work it out myself for free now the trial is over and shall see what happens.
if i am really not eating that many calories then i shall have to quit with the soups and salads and find other stuffs to eat.
trouble is i have gotten to like hm soup over the last few weeks.

Purplecatlover, why not add some home made bread to your home made soup if you need to add calories? Nothing goes better with soup than a big hunk of dipping bread or some nice thick croutons :)
