OS Monday 14 January 2008

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 14th Jan '08. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Gooooood Morning fellow OS'ers :D:D:D

Busy day ahead for me. Out most of the day so housework and such like has to wait until I get home. Will get a quick 20 minute whip round done before I go out though.

B: Porridge
L: Couscous salad
D: Jacket potato meal

Have a wash load on which I'll hang out on airers before I leave the house.

Have a great moneysaving Monday everyone :D:D:D

Good morning Queenie and everyone who follows,

Not too busy for me today, just one LO, so we will be playing and drawing today i think!!!

Do need to get the BM on, also want to give the bathroom and toilets a good going over (when LO sleeps). Very pleased with myself yesterday, cleaned the kitchen floor - including under the table!!! I actually do the floor everyday - its under the table that doesnt always get done, so pleased when i can.

Didnt see the end of dancing on ice last night (videoed it!), because i watched the last part of Sense and Sensibility, thought it was very good, but did prefer the Emma Thompson film version - now Pride and Prejudice (Shez) the BBC one was head and shoulders above the film!!!

Right, need to get started before my 2 get up and LO gets here,

    Have a lovely day everyone,
    Take care xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Morning Queenie, Catowen & all who follow

Back at work. Had a really relaxing day doing nothing yesterday, which is just what I needed. Lovely dinner of roast beef with lots of veg.

Going to look at some college courses today to see if anything grabs me.

Meeting a friend later to go and get new tyres for the car and need to empty my boot as it's full of charity shop stuff.

Got my daily clicks to do.

Nothing much else to report really. Hope everyone's ok

Haven't managed to read yesterday's thread right through so hope all is well, hugs to those who aren't. Just a quick post as off to work in a minute. This is one of my excess shifts this week, shall use the money to pay a bit more off my credit card.

Had a lovely dinner yesterday, my Step-son and his lovely girlfriend came around. I must say she has made such a difference and DSS is growing up very nicely, something his Dad and I never managed to achieve;) . Glad they were able to help DS with his X-Box, I had no idea how to set it up.

No idea what's for tea, off for a rummage in freezer and then to work.

Have a good day all :A xxxx

Morning QUEENIE, CATOWEN, TATTYCATH and SCUZZ and all who follow.

Like you, SCUZZ, my car is full of charity shop stuff. My local shops aren't taking donations at the moment so I may take the clothes to one of the textile bins or phone a charity to see if I can find one to collect it.

Well, today's plan is to do a proper menu plan. I've just been scribbling on bits of paper and I need to get it properly organised. I also need to do a freezer inventory again. I'm really trying to get my food costs down and it's so much easier with a meal plan.

I have also got into the habit of looking at the comp forum - I'm trying to do some every day; after all, you have to be in it to win it!

Today's dinner is HM sausage burgers with mash and beans, followed by leftover bread & butter pudding with yoghurt. I need to trawl the indexed collections for some more ideas for puddings. I also need to tidy up my recipe collection and update my household manual.

I have to go to the bank today to pay in a cheque and then I shall just go to the corner shop for my milk. If I go into a supermarket I shall be tempted to buy things I don't need!

I watched the last part of Sense & Sensibility - I quite enjoyed it but I don't think the men were heroic enough (Colin Firth has completely spoiled me!). It certainly was not as good as Pride and Prejudice (the Colin version, of course!). I have recorded Lark Rise to Candleford and I'm really looking forward to watching that. I also recorded Louis Theroux; I really like his programmes - they're original and slightly off the wall.

Well, DH has just left for work with a packed-lunch full of HM goodies but I have run out of cakes so I need to do some baking today.

I'm going to have a shower now and get cracking - I actually had a good night's sleep for a change. I woke at about 4.30 and got up because I felt quite refreshed so I feel ready to tackle anything. It won't last, of course!

Hope everyone has a great day and (((hugs))) for all those still poorly.

    See you later.

Morning. Just when I thought everything was getting back to normal, and the jet lag was passing. I get this nasty stinky cold and flu. Head feels like a huge marshmallow and dripping snot everywhere. Too much information I know!

Day off though so I can sufer at home. It looks like rain anyway so not much to be missed.

Green Bay Packers won at the weekend and will host NY next week. So for me that's the best outcome of the weekend.

Hope everyone is well... Glad to be back

I'm off to work in a while, had a fairly productive weekeknd. I've sold some books on Amazon, joined Ebid, sorted out hundreds of books that I'm hoping to Freecycle & got rid of some clothes on Freecycle too.
Hugs to PP, great news about the windfall.
    Have a melifluous Monday.
    Hugs Hester

    Goodmorning everyone!

Had a lovey weekend with our friends staying here and was very OS!

Back to work and school today and hopefully it will go smoothly! Up early as a friend dropped her 6 year old round at 6.30 so I can take him to school too while sh flies off for a funeral. Never mine will make me get some more jobs done (red that as spend longer on here!)

Sorting out washing, packed lunch, stock, dishwasher our early guest so have done a few things already!

    Have fab days everyone.

Was dancing on ice good?? Completely forgot about it!
  • Morning, everyone!

Catowen - DS bought DD the BBC Pride and Prejudice for Christmas - really looking forward to watching it again, especially after seeing Colin Firth reprise the *wet shirt* scene last week in St Trinians ;) :rotfl: :rotfl:

I'm off ofr a run once the Small Penguins have left for school, then a quick sweep round and then I'm starting to take a hard look around to do more decluttering. I've not tried selling on eBay yet, but intend to make a start on that - any tips, anyone? Think I'll get me over to the eBay board later on.

HM pizza for tea, and I need to prepare a pasta bake for after w*** tomorrow.

Edit - I watched Lois Theroux, whilst ironing  last night - Small Penguins asked if they could see it, too (recorded, of course, on a school night ;) ) but they won't be doing  It was really disturbing to watch the blank expressions on face s as the prisoners recalled the most serious and brutal of crimes.

    Have a Marvellous Monday
