Afternoon all. Lovely day after yesterday rain followed by more rain. Intended to go out but then decided if I did I'd only spend money while I was down town and I'm trying to restrict my little trips to once a week to avoid the pounds and pennies falling out of my purse................lol
Apart from that OH went to get the newspaper and said the pavements were very icy.............well if anyone is likely to slipover it's me. Had a year of that last year..................determined this year to stay upright............lol
No clearing out stuff today but have made some birthday cards in advance so the morning wasn't totally wasted. That earned me some time on computer I figured................lol OH has gone to meet his mates at the pub, kids out so I have some 'me' time......................:T
Hope you have a good day...............hugs to those who are poorly and get well soon.Mary
I'm creative -you can't expect me to be neat too !

Afternoon all, had a busy day so far. Signed some passport photos for a friend and done two loads of washing which is already on the line (churchmouse i know what you are talking about with putting the washing out). Even if it doesn't dry it smells much nicer for having been out.

Oh my - I have a major book crisis, only one side of the bedroom done so far and not even ventured into the loft. 20 bags to take to the charity shop (that's 7 X 15 minute trips on foot), 3 bags so far to return to friends, about 300 books to find a home for in the meantime because I want to keep them. I'll see if DH will drive me to Oxfam when he gets back and hover in a side-turning so I can just ferry them across. Sneezing badly because of all the dust.
Yikes - what an achievement!!You will feel so much better for passing these on to a new home. I firmly believe that when you let something go, you leave room for some 'thing' (can be an idea, a relationship etc - doesn't have to be an object like another book!) into your life. <sigh> wish i could get myself motivated with that and tackle the loft! That's supposed to represent our subconscious isn't it? hhmmmm....mine is a bit overloaded then

Thought I'd get some advice from you OSers. Our food budget is £400 (or £90 a week then £10 for Christmas food saving). So far this month we've spent £62 :j
So would it be really naughty to spend £20 on a Chinese for my dad's birthday this weekend?
Definately not - its a really good reason, we still have takeaways just a lot less then we used to, but it means we generally enjoy them even more. You are doing really well on your grocery budget too.0 -
Happy Birthday Heather
Haribo sorry to hear about Skint1, that is very sad news
PenPen sorry to hear you will lose your job in April, hope something can be sorted out as the CAB do brilliant work0 -
Right, books from other side now sorted as well. Enough for a double layer of shopping bags filling the Pajero boot - so possibly 25 bags X 12 books average in each (300ish books); will leave the loft books for another week (DH thinks there's only 10-15 boxes up there, so shouldn't be anywhere near as many). Just got to 'motivate' DH off the sofa to drive me there now, and come back and tackle the dustbunnies, 3-foot long cobwebs and traumatised cats. Reclaiming our bedroom by the square foot!0

Sola that's brilliant-puts me to shame, I've been thinking about decluttering today but haven't actually done anything yet. DD1 even made me poached eggs on toast for lunch... Guess I'd better make a start on my decluttering, and painting, and tidying, and cleaning......
DD2 went and got some potatoes the other day... 2.5kg. and they have all gone!!! she went to get another bag today. Since we've been trying to save money old style we have used loads of potatoes and veg etc. Might have to start buying bigger bags of pots at this rate... I'd better hurry up and sort what's going to be my new pantry out!!! Once it's empotied it will need painting too. Not sure what colour though... It's a bit dark in there and there is no light fitting. OH is hopeless at jobs like that...

I know - mine snored for 8 hours while I got 3 hours sleep, I've been busy doing stuff since 8.00 and he's about ready to fall asleep on the sofa. I think I need to hoover urgently ...0

Right, books all gone - now on with rubbish-clearing and dusting in bedroom. I want the bedroom clear and tidy by the time we go to bed tonight. Will do the diningroom tomorrow, and then that's the house decluttered this week ready for Flying on Monday, bar the stepdaughter's room and DH's study, which aren't my responsibilty.0
