Gave up on college work this morning, so cleaned two cupboards! :j

They were food ones (one with spices, vinegars, oils etc; and the other had tinned and packeted-stuff), and were a bit jumbled up and dirty. I threw out lots of well out-of-date spices (1999!!!!) and stuff that smelt 'off'. I
now have pristine cupboards and a list of what is in them....yippee!!! So now I can find the spices easier, more will get used!

I only went looking for white vinegar...found a bottle...but also 3 of the brown malt vinegar...any idea what I can do with it? I am assuming I can't use it for cleaning like the white one (much stronger smell!!)...or can I? :o

Have diced turkey for tea..can't decide whether to make fajitas or curry....think curry as we are having a staggered tea tonight. DS2 is (hopefully) doing rugby training tonight, so needs to eat @ 6, DS1 won't get in until 7 and DH will have his after the rugby training...not sure who I fancy eating with!

Must go off to Mr M...no milk powder or marg left! (its all this bread making I'm doing!) Also getting blue milk to water down...no-one noticed! DH knows, but sons don't :D

    Oh food today:

B: porridge, water & soya milk, raisins + OJ
S: small bit of HM flapjack
L: HM veg soup + slice HM bread + small amount of left-over grated cheese from last nights pasta & cheese sauce.
    S: satsuma
T: Turkey curry, brown basmati rice + veg
S: Bread & (soya) marg pudding, using heels from HM bread...yummy!

Weigh in tomorrrow....hmmmmm not done very well this week, so we'll see!

    See you tomorrow
    M

Thanks guys and what wonderful ideas MrsC. I can definately make them and they sound yummy. Ive got some low fat creme friache, is that ok instead of yoghurt?

    Few quick questions:

    Is tinned mackerel ok?

What quantities do you use for a fritata? mine are never thick and slicable like the ones other people make!

How long will these things last in the fridge?

As for main meals I do have a slow cooker, stolen from mum but I have one! There is only me so I try not to cook in too much bulk though.

Ive decided to change a few things if possible by buying low fat meats or at least trying them. Im going to borough market on saturday and I know they have venison, wild boar (my personal favorite) and ostrich so I might have to have a try if they arent too expensive. Has anyone else tried these?

Ive actually got loads of tortillas at the moment which need using before I make my own, all the nice things I cook with them are very high in fat!

Ive stuck to the right things today though and ive got soup and wholemeal roll for tea. I will be cheating at the weekend so im trying to be good for 2 days.

Afternoon ladies and gent (wherever hes gone!)

I've run out of maple syrup and sultanas for my porridge so had coco pops the last couple of days (could quite happily live off of them so have to restrain myself :rotfl: ) and I've really been noticing the difference in how hungry I am later on. I know I could have something else with my porridge but I love that combination. The cake munchies got me yesterday as well (two slice of bakewell tart and a hot cross bun) but I did have a good power walk up the hill as I was running late for the bus so couldn't move at my usual snails pace

I've got a real craving for mexian food at the minute but noone else in out house likes it so I think I'll have to make myself some for lunch next week. Perhaps with a mid day margerita for that authentic feeling :rotfl: I've just had left over HM curry from last night for my lunch. No rice so had a little slice of sourdough bread with it. Needed something sweet after so had a tiny slice of treacle tart. Off to make a summer pudding in a minute as we have half a loaf of stale bread that needs using up and theres some berries in the freezer and some HM gooseberry liquer (christmas pressie) thats just begging to be used in something!

MrsM - I love potato salad. Have you tried it with diced apple in? Very yummy.
I've got a little frying pan that does heart shaped eggs and pancakes.

Cheerfulness and Marie - I'll join you in the chair breaking club :rotfl:

    Hi All,

A cool and windy day today with the waves crashing up on the beach. We didn't walk down there though but went up the hill to visit friends instead. I succumbed to the offer of a shortbread finger whilst there so no more treats today.

I've had my usual breakfast (muesli etc.) and lunch (crackers, cheese and tomatoes) today. I am planning a mushroom omelette for me for tea with an orange to follow. I've also had a yoghurt and the usual skimmed milk coffees.

It's weigh day tomorrow but also TOTM so am not sure whether I've lost anything. Just hope I've not put any back on.

Have a good evening everyone - with no naughy nibbles.

    Afternoon all,

Chair is repaired although nobody has sat on it yet...will start with the smallest grandchild and work up from there!

At a funeral this morning so had a quick small serving of muesli with extra raisins and some water; three smallish slices of bread with butter and grated parmesan for lunch....got a gadget in Lidl last week which grates cheese much better than processor, so did a mountain...use very little to make a nice sandwich; dinner was cold roast turkey with turnip, broccoli and saut! potatoes...not many...will have a go at the pears, kiwis and clementines later.

Glad to see a very positive note here to-day...must be the longer evenings, it is not yet even twilight here which makes me feel so much better than darkness
