Weight loss the old style way part 2.

:T Well said Frogga! Weight loss is just as much about the support of fellow bodies as it is counting grains of salt--more so IMHO. And let's face it, there are plenty of groups for folk who choose toimbibe illegal or toxic substances, but it's not like we can avoid food is it! It makes me so  that folk just assume you can eat less & it's problem solved....
So to keep on topic, can anyone suggest a good cheesecake recipe with reduced sugar alongside less calories? It seems that you get either one or t'other in shops, when in reality you need both.....Full time Carer for Mum; harassed mother of three;loving & loved by two 4-legged babies.

Morning all!
well I've had my weigh-in and I stopped the same:rolleyes: so still 1 pound to go to target! I will be even more determined to do it this week! I've got lots of old copies of SW mags loaned to me and am looking for recipes I can use for all of us.
I am off out for lunch today before work to a pub that does a good carvery - hope they do a good veggie dish too! or it will be veggies and spuds for me.
I have had shreddies for breakfast with a banana - not sure about the rest if the day - will report in later if I get chance.
I am praying that this thread doesn't get closed, I love reading Frogga's chatty posts, she really brightens my day!:TDo what you love :happyhear0 -

I understand the argument that keeping the chat down makes it easier for people to read the thread and see any tips that everyone shares................ but in reality we all kinda know we need to eat less and exercise more. We know we should be eating healthier food, more fruit and veg, walking to work etc etc
But weight loss doesn't work like that does it? We all know logically what we have to do but sit us at home by ourselves and its not that easy. This is the first time in a long time I have felt inspired to actually work at the weight loss - and in large part that is due to this thread. Yesterday when I was wobbling everyone jumped in to say silly Nixy, s'gonna be alright and I was made to laugh and THAT was the best thing that could have happened. A recipe for low fat quiche wouldn't have worked. A review of the latest exercise DVD wouldn't have helped. What I needed then, and what most of us need and look for in this thread, is support and the feeling you're not facing it alone. That everyone wobbles like you do. Or scoffs food in private. That one piece of cake isn't the end of the world. And that meat and tattie pie actually has slugs in it - which I for one refuse to believe
I completely understand the need for a thread to meet the needs of everyone who reads it but it would be a shame if the humour went out of this thread - cos when you're sat arguing with the cake tin sometimes humour and a bit of banter is the only thing that'll stop you from feeling you're a crazy fool.
Editted to say - this morning I sat outside the bacon butty shop for 5 minutes.........and then drove away! YAY! Porridge IS a tasty viable alternative to bacon buttiness, honest! *coffs*Comps £2016 in 2016 - 1 wins = £530 26.2%

Well done Stacie on your 3lbs loss. :T :T Taplady - I think the last lb must definitely be the hardest of all and it wasn't easy with you not being able to weigh yourself last week with working. You did well to keep focused.
Full of cold and finding it hard to find things in the cupboard that I feel like eating and that are healthy. Couldn't eat my tea last night so DH made me a bit of custard. My throat is not good at the mo.
Longing for summer when I can grow veg as I'm having to spend a lot of my budget on fruit and veg. Still won't be long now.
Food today (if I can eat it)
Readybrek
HM French bread with sliced tomatoes in. (must get out my french bread tin  )
Turkey supreme with brown rice.
That will be the last of the turkey used up and the freezers are all but empty. Thank goodness I get paid tomorrow. I think I'm going to make my turkey supreme sauce a bit like HM bread sauce, just looser, as I've some breadcrumbs to use up and I've got a bay tree outside that hasn't had all its leaves blown off yet. Love nutmegy sauces.
Shall whizz off to steep my milk now, before I have another surf.
Shaz - personally I don't weigh mine out as I found it a faff, (I think the box said 30g was a portion). What I did was use a much smaller bowl, like sundae dish size and only use those dishes so I roughly know. Cereal bowls are just too big these days I think. Half a bowl of ours was over 4 times the recommended amount.
I think sometimes it just depends how hungry I am. Like with weetabix, usually I'll have 2 but if I'm not so hungry I only have 1. Why force it down?AUGUST GROCERY CHALLENGE £115.93/ £250

I have found a way to flatten my tummy! I thought mine was so big and floppy it was beyond toning, but I've been doing this for a week:
Sit on the sofa in front of the telly (yes, you heard that right!). Legs out in front. Then lift your thighs off the sofa so that your knees are slightly higher than your bum.
Whilst keeping your knees completely still, straighten your legs so that your feet are up in the air, then put them back on the floor and keep repeating. You really feel the strain in your tummy muscles! Keep going until you can't any more, then rest and start again.
I've been doing this for an hour every night, and can't believe the difference in just 1 week! I've no idea if I've lost any weight, but my tummy (although still bigger than it should be), feels much stronger and flatter, giving me a more defined waist (in between my oversized hips and boobs!), and I've been able to wear stretchy tops again
Mix in a bit more cardio-vascular exercise and I'm halfway there...Mortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |0 -
Well.. I got my cocopops.. tipped my usual amount in the bowl.. and just for fun decided to weigh it.. a 'serving' is 30g... I have 3 times that.. and half a pint of SS milk.. which isn't so bad because I simply do not drink milk or have dairy products other than a slop in my tea. So I ate them anyway.. 90g ish is about 390 calories so not overly catastrophic.. providing I don't stuff myself sensless at lunch and dinner.
In view of the fact I have very little for lunch it probably balances out fairly even.
Off to do my HHE.. anyone care to join in??LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Morning folks :hello:
Dance class last night was....erm....interesting :j I was the oldest by about 30 tears and the only woman on her own there were a couple of odd looking solitary blokes though:D When the teacher came in I thought he looked like Benny Hill :rotfl: BUT he was a good teacher, I really had a good workout and the teacher kept picking me to demonstrate  I did realise that I might be old and 'cuddly' but I can chacha better than a lot of these youngsters!!:T Roll on next week :T
Unfortunatly, I called at the chippy afterwards.........chips, scallop and a buttered muffin  followed by a yoghurt and a small slice of cake
Back on the wagon with a vengance today, branflakes and shreddies (dregs of the boxes) with soya milk for brekkie, just had a banana, I've got a roast veg wrap from M&S for lunch (it's pay day:T ) which I'll have after belly dancing (is there no stopping this woman)
Big shop night tonight - no food in the house so I have no choice so tea will be something sensible and quick when I get in.:D
Taplady - when I was a t SW it took me ages to lose the last pound and when I did I lost 3!! Good luck for next week :j
Frogga - don't leave us please
Everyone else - see you later :A0
