Alfiesmum.. don't you dare feel bad for wanting to feel and believe you are beautiful! Maybe said friend was having an off day.. or she may be feeling left out because she isn't strong enough to do this for herself. I hate it when other people try to make you feel bad for trying to boost yourself. Of course you want people to notice.. it is hard work and a nice compliment once in a while does us all wonders. I'd ignore her huffy behaviour and carry on as normal.. and hope she gets over herself pretty soon (((hugs )))LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0

Evening all you lovely lot and a special hello to our newbies
Nice to see you back Alfiesmum..... don't let your friend put you off losing weight-if she is a true friend she will be pleased for you..... and you always have us lot to tell about how much you have lost and how you are feeling
, as you say -its not as if you are rubbing her nose in it -so i would just carry on doing as you were -and if she brings the subject up then talk to her about it, and if not..talk to us -and your OH-who sounds nice n supportive :j
Heck I want people to notice that i have lost weight... lets be honest if no-one was going to notice our weight -most of us probably wouldn't even be on here doing this :rotfl: .... by the way Alfiesmum... "you look like you have lost weight"see -we notice
Meanmarie -you made me laugh out loud with your post...hubby thinks im crackers. I would provide a kick up the bum -but it sounds like far to much effort for me
... it would mean getting off my chair :rotfl:
I Think frogga mentioned having this last weekend off before she gets back on the wagon -unless i missunderstood her post. Im sure she will be here nice n early in the morning... woohho frogga -just in case you are reading
Well hubby got back from golf so i got him out in the garden -taking some turf up so i can grow lots of beans n peas.... anyway, i went down to the laundry room to grab some trousers -pulled them on and they literally fell down :rotfl: i thought i hadn't fastened them but when i checked them -they were:eek: .. im amazed as they are elasticated at the back and then zip n press stud at the front -so i thought the elastic would have kept them up.. but they actually fell round my ankles :rotfl:
Im veryabout it but slightly  as i have a pair in black, beige and khaki and have hardly worn them... i had them for my jollies in july when they were -shall we say "snug" :rotfl:
So if anyone has a knows a clown in need of new trousers -all he needs is a hula hoop to thread through the belt loops and they will be well away:rotfl:
Caterina... just looked cime di rapa up on googleit looks really nice.. a bit like skinny broccoli
..would like to get my hands on some of that..hmmm wonder if i can find seeds and grow some;)
Cheap Date - i hope your little ones trip to hospital goes ok, 1 day of not so great eating is nothing to worry about...you can soon make up for it once you are all back home;)
Shell2001 -i downsized our plates as i can't help but fill what space i have, hubby now maintains that our bigger steak plates are actually serving platters :rotfl:
Well i did have chicken, roasties, carrots, nobbies and cabbage for dinner and boy were the roasties yummybut thats me done for the day-im stuffy puddled
...
Im off now for a bit of a veg out..and i think i will get some planning done for the veggie planting i need to get under way -have far too many seeds:p so need to work out what i can fit where..
Well i hope everyone is all set for another good week.. have a great evening everyone:D-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -
In order that it doesn't get too unwieldy, because there are SO many people interested, it would be useful if people didn't make LOTS of posts in the same day; perhaps one at the start of the day and one towards the end to say how you got on for example would prevent the thread becoming difficult to read for people who can't get here as often as others.
I hope no-one here takes offense to this and I'm certainly not trying to single out anyone and say they're posting too much or ANYTHING like that! BUT can I issue a reminder since I notice that the thread is already huge and it's only a day old. If people could try to keep their posts to one or two a day it would help a lot when people can only bob in every day or two as otherwise there's an awful lot to trail through.
(Like I said, please don't take offense at this - there are a lot of people giving sound encouragement and advice on here and I don't want to put anyone off!)May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0 -
evening all!
Just got back form a 10 hour shift! got an 11 hour one tomorrow then 2 days off!:j
Have been quite good for me!:D no biscuits, cake or chocolate at all! Had a nice roast lunch of veggies, yorkshires and gravy with a big dollop of cranberry sauce! For breakfast i had some wholemeal toast and porridge( not at the same time - toast at 6 am porridge at 8 am)
For tea tonight I'm having jacket spud with some leftover baked beans and salad.
We are off out soon to walk the dogs(in the rain:rolleyes: ) but I need the exercise after a long shift as we dont get much at work.
Hello to MRSM,Frogga, RS, keiss, Caterina, pigpen, juliejim and all the other oldies;) sorry if I've missed you:hello:Do what you love :happyhear0 -
MrsMCAwber - I am so jealous! It'll be wonderful when my clothes get looser!
Had blueberries with the porridge this morning, still can't pretend I like it, but will persevere, because I really don't want to join DH as a type 2 diabetic and if losing weight will really help I'm determined to succeed.
Roast pork, etc for lunch, but reasonable portions - and no alcohol!
May not have supper as not feeling hungry at all, but likely to be poached egg on toast if I do.
Alfie'smum - hope your friend comes round soon, it must be really miserable for you, but def. her problem, not yours.
have been wondering what to do about lunches, as I often have cheese/ham rolls or similar. Am going to try beans on toast, or sardines (they're oily, yes?) and chicken/tuna wraps. What do you think? (Have to cut down on fats and sugars, processed stuff - and def. no cheese - sob, sob!)Resolution:
Think twice before spending anything!0 -
Thanks for all your support. Puts me back on track to thinking it's good that I'm doing this.
Update of overall progress: Starting weight on January 1st was 13st 10lb (at 5ft 1" that's not ideal!). First week lost 4lb, will weigh in tomorrow to find out this weeks loss. (Fingers crossed it IS a loss!)
Weekends tend to be easier for me, with everybody at home, it's a busy place, dogs and kids running round everywhere, it's 2pm before I've even thought about eating. But during the week I have the house to myself all day, and that's when the biscuit barrel starts to call. It would be easy to say, don't have food like that in the house, but in true old style, I bake a lot for my family and friends, so I have to just learn to say no to it all. Not easy but worth it the long run.
Thanks again, what you all said made a difference, thank you.0 -
Following on from my lovely healthy Lentil and Tomato soup recipe in the old thread this one is more likely to get me hate mail!
Once upon a time I was 13 stone! At 5'7" with a family history of rheumatism this was not good!
Nowadays I weigh between 9st and 9st7.
My advice would be:
Don't deny yourself the things you crave - it doesn't work! Just eat them in smaller quantities. I lost weight even when I ate chocolate every day.
Exercise - NO EXCUSES! I work out 3 times a week (aerobics at home with Cher!), swim once a week, walk EVERY day (3 dogs makes it a must anyway) and, in the better weather, I use my bike to get about (did a 50 mile sponsored ride in aid of the air ambulance in 3h40mins). Many people I work with make the excuse that they don't have time. MAKE TIME - it only takes an hour and you'll feel better for it (eventually!)
Don't torture yourself if you have a bad day. Just make sure you make up for it the next day. I still have the odd blowout and my weight does go up and down a bit. I hop on the scales once a week and resolve to get back on track if the news is not good.
Don't do faddy diets, just eat a balanced diet and, if you aren't losing weight, reduce the portion size a bit. I take carrot sticks to work every day to munch on - they are high in fibre and fill you up - but will often come home and have pizza and chips. Its just a matter of getting the 'balanced' bit right. And remember, don't skip meals! breakfast especially!!
Good luck to all of you in your goals and remember that it's about changing your way of life for good. My joints have certainly thanked me for it:jwend

Wend33 - thankyou for your post - it made a lot of sense!:T its like the old saying - everything in moderation, denying yourself things doesn't work in the long run because you just crave them more but the problem lies in keeping things in moderation and not going over the top.
Well done on maintaining your loss!:TDo what you love :happyhear0 -
Hi folks
Very busy weekend so not had a chance to post but have been quite good. Notice the quite lol have had some alcohol, chocs and cakes over the weekend but have been having them in moderation. My plan for tomorrow is for:
Breakfast: fruit and fibre
snack: fruit
lunch: ham and cheese sandwich
snack: cereal bar
dinner: home made turkey Korma (guess where that came from:rolleyes: ) with either rice or naan
Have just got an exercise bike from my parents which they haven't used for years so hoping to start using that a couple of times a week to start with, hopefully building up to half an hour each evening.
Good to see more people wanting to do the 7lb by valentines thing its great to have others to congratulate, enspire, encourage, support and if needed commiserate with :T .
Have a good day.0
