morning folks....:D

just got back from the supermarket -1 1/2 hrs walking for me :j ...i am really finding that i get in quite a grump if i don't get for my walks....god makes me sound like some kind of pooch :rotfl: -no comments about being a b*tch thankyou very much :D

Spent €26.95 about £20  - but i found "whoops" heaven today was kinda restrained :o i got

3 weight watcher fresh pizzas -salami, peppers and onion @€1.80
3 packs free range turkey mince @€1.56
2 free range chickens @€2.30
free range turkey breast slices-600g raw -@ €2.92
2 packs sliced pork medallions with a peppercorn sauce @ €1.50
2 packs cevapici -@ €1.00

oh and then 4 packs of butter as they are on offer and all those 10c soon add up :rotfl:
and some salad dressing mixes -

I thought the pizzas would come in if hubby got a sudden craving over a weekeds ..... only 8 point in the whole thing (not that i do point mind)..and they are much better than the ones we get in the uk  lovely fresh dough

the pork will get done with veggies and sliced potatoes n onions in the oven although hubby will get most of the sauce -you should see how many pepper corns are in there
and im going to mix one pack of the cevapici with a pack of turkey mince and make meatballs with extra veggies..well turkey mince is quite bland isnt it? and the cevapici are quite spicy and meaty so that should work
so i guess that little lot should keep us going :T

So then folks -how are we all this lovely morning?

taplady has to be fine as you are off work  -hope you get your piece of coffee cake :D

Cheerfulness - i was a crisp-oholic too :p pokey bacon and cheese n onion mmmm when i was back at mums over xmas i was quite relieved as she buys in the "fancy" flavours.... lamb tagine etc for my brother and i really don't rate them -phewwww -just give me a pack of walkers anyday...oh unless tyrrel veg crisps are about yumyumyum:rotfl:

Rockie.... if OH is in the bad books -you will have to arrange the meal plan so the "nice" stuff goes in your lunch box and the "basics" are for dinner of an evening ;) anyway if you are out at work all day -you need your sustinance plus its better to eat your biggest meal during the day -nudge nudge winkwink :rotfl: . Hope your wages arrive soon -there is nothing worse than thinking money is due in and it doesn't show.... Have to say the MOD are prety good in that respect -thank god

Alibow... i only do a pasta bake once a week if that -but just lately i have really been enjoying them - i made ours using spaghetti broke into pieces yesterday -as i refused to pay 55c for a bag of pasta when hubby is taking me out to somewhere i can get it for 39c -and i had spag in the cupboard-how tight fisted am i getting :rotfl: -thing is we actually prefered it :T

I just :-
• slice about 12 slices of of a pepperoni/salami (the narrow one), dropped it in a hot dry frying pan...
• once it had given off some oil i throw in a couple of sliced onions, some mushrooms and peppers (i keep bags of frozen and defrost them and squeeze them out)
• cook until the onions are softened then i add some frozen peas (sweetcorn if i have a tin open in the fridge)
• throw in some passata, a dollop of low fat cream cheese and cook until mixed in..
• add the par cooked pasta, mix well and pour into a baking dish
• a fine grating of parmesan and whack in the oven for a couple of minutes to warm through
I bake ours in individual dishes so I can have a smaller portion -plus i give hubby more of the pepperoni/salami -as the taste is allready in the pasta ;) thus saving a few cals:D . The dollop of cream cheese makes a lovely creamy sauce for less cals than cream etc ;)

Kittyscarlett-hope you are feeling better soon -take it easy -if life allows :D

Hi Alibambino..glad you are feeling more in control :T ..its just a case of finding that balance isn't it... 2 biccies won't do any of us any harm.. it just we are used to devouring the rest of the pack too:o ..so well done :D

well i had best get off as i have to keep going back and ammending my errors  my head must be kicking off... i know when its coming because i see things backwards.... used to be loads of fun when i worked on a checkout :rotfl: it would say £4.72 and i would see £4.27 etc :p ... and now i have the same thing with words... i mix my spellings up and my words come out backwards when i talk :rotfl: -im ok talking to mum as she does that anyway :rotfl: ..so i will go and have a drink and veg out and see if it passes before it goes "full scale"....
sorry if i have missed anyone...i will be back later and catch up..
have a great day everyone :D

Morning everyone.

Have just whizzed through the weekend posts as I need to dash off and meet a friend. I did see the phrase Eat to live not live to eat.
How true that is. Does anyone think its all this consumerism and subtle tv adds that have made us the way we are now.Same with cleaning products I think. Anyway had a bad food day at work again. Even though I took Ryvita and Laughing Cow cheese. Ha! Still had toast, biscuits and cheesecake. Wasnt all at once but may as well have been.

Why are Easter Eggs so cheap this year. I dare not buy them yet for the little ones. Bet you know why :D

Well done to all those who have lost weight. To those struggling including me. We will get there cos this thread is so motivating and its just natural to have something nice sometimes. Think I might print out the eat to live phrase. Have a good day everyone.

• Hiya folks :hello:

Up early this morning, washing put away, dishwasher emptied & DD bathed.

Still didn't get the bigger bowl for my porridge yet, so this morning I had to make it in a pyrex casserole dish. Being the slob I am I couldn't be bothered to transfer it to an ordinary bowl, so there I was sat in the living room with a big casserole dish eating from it.....then a thought occurred to me, it was still quite dark outside, I had the blinds open and a lamp on; so anyone passing by would have looked in and definitely thought I was having my "Ma Larkin" sized breakfast; even though it was a normal portion just in a big bowl (well that's my excuse & I'm sticking to it).

Today's plan....

Breakfast - Porridge made with water, then semi-skimmed milk & raisins added after it was cooked. Glass OJ, large tea.

Lunch - Not sure yet.

Dinner - 2 sausages, boiled potatoes, carrots, peas, broccoli, 1 yorkie & some gravy.

Some snacks & drinks too, don't know what yet.

Hya Folks

Been working on yet more college stuff, so a bit late getting on today.

BigMummaF, here is the fat-free fruit loaf recipe...adapted from RCs Kim's Cake

1 Kg bag of Dried Mixed fruit
Strong tea (1/2 to 1 pint)
4 Mugs SR Wholemeal Flour (I weighed it out..740 g or 1 lb 10 oz)
1/2 to 1 mug of soft brown sugar (92g or 3.35 oz to 185g or 6.5 oz) RC uses 2 mugs, but I cut it down
2 large eggs lightly beaten
1 to 2 tsp powdered cinnamon
Some orange juice if mixture is dry

Soak the fruit in a dish (I use pyrex casserole) overnight in tea and some cinnamon (1 tsp). I have enough to just reach top of fruit, mix well before covering. I use the last of DH's tea in teapot including the tea bags and top up with hot water.

Next day:
1. Pre-heat oven to 160 C (325 F or Gas Mark 3).
2. Grease and flour loaf tins. This mixture makes two 1lb tins and one 2lb tin
3. Put soaked fruit into large bowl.
4. Add flour and sugar and more cinnamon (we like it here!)
5. Add the lightly beaten eggs and stir to mix well
6. If the mixture seems a bit dry, add some orange juice.
7. Transfer to prepared tins and cook for about 11/2 to 2 hours.
Keep checking though as it depends on the cakes' moistness and state of you oven. Mine is a fan oven with a wonky door, and timings vary! Check by inserting a skewer, if it come out clean, then they are ready! If the tops are looking a bit brown and they are not cooked, cover with paper (greaseproof/silicon/newspaper/brown) so they don't burn.

As you can see I usually use mugs as a measure...the same one every time until someone breaks it!

I too have cut down on the sugar, and once didn't include it at all...that didn't go down well! So now I try and keep it to half the original recipe, though if I am doing the kilo of fruit version, then I use less as I know I will be using fruit juice. You could use water instead of OJ of course.

As with all fruit loaves, they taste better after a day or two (store in tin or plastic bag). I slice and freeze two of them, so there is something on standby when the teenage monsters clear me out of food!

Hope this is of use!

M
