    Hey Guys...how goes it?

I see someone else has had the idea of making corned beef 'fishcakes'......definately best to let the spud go cold before mixing into patties tho. We used to have a similar thing when I was little, made from a pot of paste---how MSE is that!

There was no decent granary or such left in MrT's yesterday--not at a price I am willing to pay anyways:o --so I'm going to try a Hovis Granary mix...75p for a possible 2lb loaf. I'll let you know how it comes out.

Dreading the W/I tomorrow...not sure why cuz I've been a food:A & definately had more exercise this week. If I stay the same---or worseafraid-smiley-9553.gif---I'll sad-smiley-17025.gif

    Evening everyone :D

    BigMummaF
good luck with the weigh in in the morning ;)
We have just had our corned beef cakes for dinner :T ....and they worked...hubby loved them..with those "chips" made using egg white instead of fat/oil...which he loved too :j ....

This is what i did (in case anyone wants a bash :p )
    1. 1lb potatoes, peeled and boiled with:-
    2. 2 small onions (about 6oz finely chopped)
    3. mash them and add 1/2 a tin of corned beef and bash with plenty of seasoning and 2 tbsp flour until thick (depending on the potato you may need a bit more flour -or you could use bread crumbs)
    4. shove back in the fridge to cool (i left it all day)
    5. get big spoon fulls and shape into cakes (I made 8)
    6. stick back in fridge until needed...
    7. when it came to cooking them i mixed some polenta (going to try bread crumbs next)with a few of those "crispy onions" you put on salads and seasoning
    8. coated the cakes in egg white (leftover from making the oven chips) coated in the polenta mix and stuck in the fridge for 10 mins
    9. heat up a heavy frying pan and pop them in -don't try and move for a few minutes, flip them to crisp the other side
    10. transfer to a baking sheet and bake on about 200... just adjust the heat as they cook...
I cooked them for quite a while and resisted the urge to prod and poke ;) ... they "gave" a little but kept there shape and were crispy outside and squidgy inside :T

That mix made 8 but i only cooked 4 and it was plenty with a few "oven chips" and garden peas..so the others are going in the freezer ;) .... Not only does that work out really economical but quite good on the cal front as they are full of flavour....and only 1/2 a tin of corned beef in 8 "burgers" :j
A dollop of tomato sauce would be nice in the mix -especially for the children -but hubby isn't a fan so i missed it out...

And the "oven chips" tossed in egg white and baked in the oven are very nice (i added a sprinkle of onion salt and plenty of seasoning) and they come out like when you do sliced potato and onions in the oven and the top ones blister and go brown-hubby was much impressed :D -i cooked them on one of those silicone liners as i reckon they would "weld" to a bare tin ;)

So todays menus of HM tortillas, corned beef cakes and oven chips have all been requested again -good job as half the tortillas and half the cornedbeef cakes are in the freezer:rotfl:

 Thriftmonster and welcome back.... my mum has just given up the WW and is putting the money away every week -and she is eating much better..although i think "points" will always be with her.... i still find it hard not to thing of them sometimes:rolleyes:
Just think of that £22 a month you will be saving.... you could get yourself a little treat/reward every month to keep you motivated. Its lovely that hubby is treating you for every stone lost my hubby gives me 1 for every 1lb and i'm putting it away to treat myself -when i have lost it all and need new clothes.

Well apart from cooking i have done "not a lot" today :D so i will get off..hope you all have a great evening and good luck for the weigh ins tomorrow :D

Sorry, not been in for a few days, ISP problems as well as a rather painful back

Weighed in Friday no change , but could have been worse as TOTM and been hitting the carbs as well as not exercising...not it could have been much worse!

Congratulations to all the losers...commiserations to everyone else.

I am not able to stay on for long as back is too sore.

This weekend I am resting and not trying to do too much...my back just might improve by next week...so frustrating. It is a few years since it was this bad, and I am not very good at taking things easy...but it's becoming a case of having too at the moment. This is another reason (if not the main one) for losing weight...it should ease my back if it's not carrying so much.

Now off to supervise the chicken fajitas....OH pretty good cook.

    Have a good weekend folks

    M

    Hello Ladies:hello:
Hello newbies and returners (like me) :hello:
    Well done to the losers:T

I weighed myself this morning .......11st9lbs:eek:  so that's 2 on from when I first started:mad: Never mind, I'm back on the wagon and I think Will Power is with me :D
I had egg and mushrooms with 2 slices of toast (one had a scrape of marg) for brekkie.
I made soup for lunch - brocolli, cauli, a leek and a courgette (bottom of the veg drawer) cooked in veg stock and then blitzed and I added about half a tub of Philly light with garlic and herbs - Gorgeous!! :j :j I had it with 2 slices of burgen bread. Had a banana mid afternoon and have just had Mozerella and red pepper stacks (JS) with baby roasties and courgettes for tea. I'm comfortably full now so hope I won't get hungry tonight!
Exercise has been a visit to the allotment - a bit of digging and then I had a walk to the shops and back (about an hour)

We're going for a 'proper' hike tomorrow, I'll take a packed lunch and am planning to try the veggie haggis recipe when I get back......

    Enjoy the weekend folks :A
  • Grats cheerfulness, beemuzed and Julie on your losses ! and you’re very welcome irishmummy and thriftmonster, hope it helps ! janeryan don’t worry about the 2lbs it will come off in the end J wb rockie, glad Mr W Power is with you – cor he sounds a bit like The Force doesn’t he – except maybe in the shape of a semi-naked fireman that works outs :D

As per the cb cakes – maybe in future, try chilling for a while in the fridge to firm up ? that can help. Also sometimes making the mash a little drier, not too much milk & butter etc. Don’t give up, things can sometimes take a few tries before we get them the way we like them J hehe I was going to say maybe thicken up with flour/breadcrumbs but MrsM beat me to it ;)

ME – yummy , I love watercress soup ! so quick too, hope you enjoy yours ! good luck with getting all the stuff sorted after the burglary L Keiss hope your back eases up soon.

:hello: MrsM and frogga ! somehow you seem inseperable, like Morecambe and Wise :p

Marie, don’t worry, I sometimes eat pretty late too, after a lifetime of eating at odd hours due to various jobs it’s a habit I can’t break.

and hello to anyone I've missed :j

Pretty good day foodwise really. Breakfast - 2x slices wholemeal toast with a bit of Lurpak lighter. shared Lunch at work - hm ( by friend ) blue cheese and broccoli quiche, steamed new pots, salad, tomatoes, hm coleslaw. Then lovely afters of strawberries, greek yoghurt and a meringue ! also half a Kinder Bueno bar forced upon me by colleague :p Had 2 rice cakes and ham, and a licorice bar when I got home. Supper will be corned beef sandwich ( all this corned beef talk has made me crave it, LOL ! and yeah I did buy a loaf today  first one this week though !) celery, apple and watercress.

So yes I have had a couple of sweet bits today but nothing disastrous and certainly not in the quantities I would normally consume in a weekend, no double whammys of crisps/chocs when I get home and other junk, and I haven't had a Pepsi Max in 5 days ! and thinking back over the week I haven't taken much excercise due to feeling totally wiped out all the time due to work stress, but I'll start to try changing that towards the end of next week. This week I really have felt more in harmony with my efforts rather than at odds with them a lot of the time :A

    Have a good evening, all.

Morning Taplady :D -morning everyone :D
    • Just had my porridge with sultanas and chopped apple
    • lunch is going to be chicken salad with steamed potatoes
    • dinner will be something "toasty" as i have a new loaf under way :D -probably poached egg n toast...
Well for the 1st time in ages...i lay on the sofa last night and got that awfull -one time very familiar "mmmmm i fancy something sweet" thoughts  ... Now i know there is no choc, cakes, sweets in the house -phew... so i swiped a teaspoon of hubbies capuccino ice cream.....and by some miracle -that was all i needed :rotfl: -it is rather nice mind... quite a strong coffee flavour with little chips of choc/coffee beans -sweet -but not sickly.
He only has a 1lt tub...and they last him about a month..at one time that was my "individual tub" size :o .....

I guess everyone who is missing must have exciting social lives :p -sat here twiddling my thumbs :rotfl:

will get off -will pop back later to see who is about :D
have a great day everyone..and keep up the good work :D
