Weighed myself this morning for the first time since last Thursday and was very surprised and pleased to see a 2lb difference. I have been quite good eating wise this week but haven't managed to do much exercise so I was not expecting much so quite pleased.
Food wise I have been having porridge and stewed fruit in the morning, soup at lunch and either chicken or white fish with veg or salad at night. What I have found to be very helpful is in the morning I am making up a bag of snack food from carrots, cucumber, cherry tomatoes and celery and instead of putting it back in the fridge keeping it out - one thing which used to put me off snacking on these was coldness of them when they came out the firdge room temp is much better.
Anyway going to have the same approach for this next week but will try to incorporate some exercise.
Good luck to all for the coming week

why when i know how bad it is for me do i continue to stuff myself full of junk. since hurting my back in 2003 i have steadily been gaining weight and today saw my doc for my monthly medication review and stood on her scales and i almost fell off when i saw it inching towards 19 stone. i feel fat, ugly and sick and tired of being sick and tired. i was 12 1/2 stone before this so i have gained a stupid amount of weight. keep promising myself to eat as we all should and exercise if only a few steps up stairs (limited mobility) i am sorry if this has made anyone else feel bad but you are the only people i can talk to that would understand. i know its the old way of dieting is the only way that will work but back to original question, why do i keep putting things in my mouth that will hurt me???0

Was feeling energetic yesterday so went for two walks as well as a sesson on the crosstrainer. Didn't want to spoil exercise so:
B left over low fat sausages, dry fried egg and red cabbage (I'm weird I crave red cabbage - have done since I was 5)
L HM soup, bread roll and HM coleslaw
S handful cherries
D last of defrosted Xmas turkey in a wine sauce with potato, carrots and swede
P low fat choc mousse
..........and drank tons (well 2.5 litres) of water
Am determined to lose more than 1lb this week
M.E. - so sorry to hear about your burglary - we were 'done' in December while on hols, for OHs car keys (which were in Barcelona with us). You must be shocked and furious in equal measure (((hugs)))
Frogga - well done on resisting the eggie temptation - clucking greatI'd rather be watching CSI!0 -
Morning everyone
Just got back from a 2hr walk .... so thats my exercise done for today :rotfl: .. had a wander to The supermarket...mainly to get some "wobble" shifted
Got half way there and remembered i hadn't even had a drink -let alone my brekkie  ...how i forgot to drink is beyond me..i drink at least 4lt water a day, on top of my tea or SF dilute..anyway i have now caught up by nearly drinking the tap dry
Frogga -
well done on resisting the CCEs :T ..when i think of choc i now link it to "whitebait" the most god awfuk food ever invented im sure closely followed by Proper Bakewell pudding ..bleughhhh..which explains why choc doesn't bother me now;) .
Morning Taplady...
You will have that 1lb gone in no-time :T our very first "success story" how is mr tappy doing? still doing OK I hope
Alibow..
Whatever you do..don't go near the super scales in Superdrug...My mum, sis and niece started using them last week and it even tells you how tall you are...sis was 2" shorter than she used to be..so her target is even lower :rotfl: she was not impressed.
They will be having their 1st weigh in on there today...fingers crossed -especially for sis as she is still going through chemo and can't stop eating.... mind its mums HM fruit cake so at least its lots of fruit, roughage and iron :T . We have told her that at the moment she just needs to eat what her body tells her, and if that means a weight gain -so what-her body has enough to deal with allready....
Glad OH is coming round Newlywed... they can be strange creatures can't they..not like us ladies at all -we are perfectly rational and reasonable ALL the time
....
Well done jjef :T ..great start....
I can see what you mean about leaving thing at room temp-they even reckon water is better for your body like that... but i have to have everything Ice cold...water so it almost hurts to drink it and even my apples are kept in the fridge. Tomatoes are much better out of the fridge mind..so much more flavour.
Keep up the good work and good luck for this week
Hello Homealone
Come on here and let off steam as often as you like...as you say we have all been there..and most of us go back again occasionally im sure.
Its that damned roundabout -"i feel low, sad, angry, bored etc so I eat, I eat then i feel even worse and off we go -round and flippin round" i have spent so many years on there im dizzy:p
Injuring your back has obviously reduced your "exercise" -which isn't your fault... which will mean you spend more time at home i imagine - only a few steps away from the kitchen... so its not surprising you have gained some weight (I don't work because of a medical complaint -so i have an idea of where you are coming from)....
But you are here now...so when you get bored or down you can come and distract yourself by talking to us lot
..and you can PM me anytime-im usually lurking
.
If you just make a few small changes im sure you can start reducing your weight in no time... you should find plenty of hints and tips on here and most importantly of all lots of support and encouragement... we all have varying amounts to shift - when i started on here with this lovely bunch i weighed more than you do now.. so this place can and does work...:D
well enough rambling......
lunch will be crisp bread thingies with cream cheese and an apple
dinner is roast chicken (just got 2 big freah free range ones reduced to under €2.50 each:T )with salad and steamed potatoes
right im off now.. have a lovely day all...keep up the good work...oh and Hello to anyone i have missed-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -
Mrsm - I just wish they would officially recognise that blokes get PMT - not every month or for a set amount of days but most certainly PMT!!!working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0

newlywed.. DS1 gets PMT as well.. his is every 4-5 weeks he has 3 days of being a total mong. Then I have DD1 with it.. then I get it lol.. I'm just evil for 24 hours.. about 4 days before af.. crazy isn't it! Hubby just has a mid-life crisis annually!
Breakfast in here was rice krispies
lunch I have the remaining bit of spaggy bol.. yum!
dinner tonight I haven't quite sorted yet so I'll have to get back to you!
I am NO WAY going to hit the 7lb by Valentines day.. unless I remove a limb or a few bones! or have surgery.. which I am considering.. it has to be easier!!! I've managed 3lb in a month.. (probably less than a month as it was christmas and I ate a whole tin of roses to myself!)
HOW do people manage to lose 3lb, 4lb or 5lb even, in just a week??? I can barely manage that in a month! I am baffled by it, really!! Last time I lost a couple of stone it took me about 18 months.. I would lose 1lb and stay the same for 3 weeks no matter what I did. Come on.. someone must have a magic method!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
So I'm sitting here with a lovely fruit tea...I used to drink them a lot when I couldn't face black--or white--coffee anymore, but 'coffee-break' became 'brunch' & the need for a quick refreshment disappeared. I'm hoping it will make an impact on the weight-loss, cuz I'm having less milk as a result
There was a piece on our local news last night, about the increase of burglaries...seems today's rogues carry a broom handle with a bent coat hanger tied to one end, so as to lift keys from shelves near front doors. They poke the gizmo thru the letter box, & can also open the door that way too. I'm glad we've got Pup now:o
A quick tip.....there were only six sausages left out of a bulk purchase from the butchers & I was debating what to do with them to feed 4 adults when. I split them open & made little meatballs, browning them a little before adding tin toms, garlic & such to make a sauce, & served it with pasta.

Great idea BigMummaF!!! We often buy packs of 6 sausages, and end up with 2 left... OH adores meatballs and that'd make a change from veggie based pasta dishes! Have recently been buying 8 packs and freezing them in 2x4's though.
Was quite good last night, though had a G&T. Dinner was quite a small bowl of wholemeal tuna pasta, as OH and I had a grumble at eachother and it put me off eating. Hungry today though!
B: 2 x toast and jam (wanted to use up crusty bread and a year old jar of jam!)
L: leftover tuna pasta, orangeHM Fisherman's Pie
Desert: SF Jelly, hopefully, if OH made it!
Have a lovely day everyone x0 -

Mainly, wot MrsM saidBut also, you're not alone, there is no miracle cure to stopping, there are many of us here that battle with the same kinds of vicious circles. Including self sabotage even when some measure of success has been achieved - " Oh why am I bothering, I'm not worth it anyway, I'm rubbish, pass me the cakes ". We all fall down or off the wagon with varying frequency and have variable success but what we all do have in common is that we are all sticking with the attempt, day by day and hour by hour even, to keep trying and do it the old fashioned, sensible, frugal and healthy way. Try and keep some of these things in mind maybe :
Get rid of the word " diet " and think " way of eating ".
Fall off the wagon ? dust yourself down, get out the witchhazel for the bruises and get back on it again. There will always be plenty of hands to help you back up.
Think on a meal by meal basis if you like. Less daunting than thinking " I have to do xyz for n amount of time ".
Concentrate on your successes rather than what you perceive to be your failures. Don't stress about the biscuits you ate yesterday, that was yesterday - focus on the lovely veggie loaded pasta sauce you made today and enjoyed.
Its for life, not just for Christmas" Slow and steady won the race " we are tortoises not hares ! but we get there in the end and we intend to stay there too !
Right, another sh*tty work day, thank goodness its over. No time for breakfast, but ( already cooked ) free range chicken, rice cakes, pineapple, blueberries, celery and apple for lunch. ( Raiders of the Lost Fridge time ) No clue as to dinner and supper, probably jacket spud and hm coleslaw." Baggy, and a bit loose at the seams.. "~ November 8th 2008. Now totally DEBT FREE !~0
