  • Hi All,
Welcome to new folk, today is a good day.. firstly it's my birthday 46:eek: how did that happen???
Secondly my daughter did some modelling for speedo(where did those genes come from?) got paid today very good money for a student(or anyone actually) so that takes financial pressure of me for a while:j
Being my birthday I've given myself the day off but am going to have MRSM's wise words in my ears, I'll eat whatever I want but not stuff myself.
    Anyway have a great day

Just read an article in the New Scentist which suggests that a lower carb diet may be the way to go after all!

Have spent the last two weeks trying it out as cannot eat one piece of toast (or even two!) and end up stuffing myself.

Am now in a size smaller trousers - can sit down in them but do not ask me to bend! lol;)

I have decided not to weigh myself as I get discouraged if I have only lost a little and then start scoffing again!

Keep telling myself that I am not on a diet but avoiding bread, biscuits etc as they do not agree with me. It seems to make me feel less deprived!

Have chicken in the slow cooker which will make a curry later and still let me have something to pick at!

    Hi Everyone

dumpling - You've got a good approach there. Don't worry when you fall off the wagon, just keep writing it down and posting on here and you'll soon get back on the straight and narrow.

iamstacie - hmmm like the sound of mashed banana in porridge - some great breakfast ideas on this thread!

chardonnay - I use 2oz of uncooked rice per person, which is fine - it's about 70-75g I think, and is about half a cup - pasta is a little more, I think.

    nix - I hope you're feeling better

I'm having a good day today in terms of all healthy snacks and meals, but am desperate for a bag of crisps, and am about to give in dammit!:o

    Have a good day all

I wanted something to munch so got some frozen grapes out of the freezer.

They last for ages and you feel as if you have had a treat.

Have been trying to eat something whenever I feel peckish but stuff that will fit in with my "eating plan!"

    Hi All,

Just got back from Gibraltar and my chance to get weighed and I have lost 3lbs! Hurray. Now some of that may be the lighter weight clothes I was wearing but most of it must be me so I am feeling great.

Also did 50 minutes of walking to the library and back so had some healthy exercise for the day.

    Breakfast: muesli, fruit juice etc.

Lunch: Piece of garlic and herb bread with tomatoes and cheese. Orange

    Snacks: banana and apple

Tea: not sure yet but probably yoghurt with lemon juice for afters and something with eggs to start.

Good luck everyone else with your weigh ins. Off to sit in the sun with a book now.

Happy birthday Saversarn :bdaycake: ...Hope you are having a lovely day!!

Hello to everyone and especially the newbies:D

Well i went out for a wander earlier....wanted to go to ALDi -as its the cheapest and the bits i wanted are always from there..so i made myself walk the long way :D so thats 1hour of exercise crosse off...and to top it all i got:-
2kg of apples -i get through loads
200g g tom puree -making pizza later this week
    300g cream cheese with herbs
and 700g fresh tomatoes that still have that greenhouse smell..it came to €4.03 which was great, but when i got home they had given me change for a €10 note when i paid with a €5 :T so THEY paid me for my shopping :rotfl:

Got home and realised i had never got around to making my porridge  So had 3 crisp breads with horseraddish cream cheese, a couple of tickled bunions and a tomato..oh and an apple for lunch...

The gammon was cooked and the stock is now 3 x 1pt portions of pea and ham soup for hubby :T

    cheerfulness

I have always been an "all or nothing" kind of person ...thankyou dad :p ... and when doing WW etc i always used to go at it like a woman possesed... swimming 120 lengths 5 days a week etc... and i could always lose weight quickly -but the minute i had 1 blip it was "game over" ...
This is the first time i have decided that I will be eating this way for the rest of my life and bingo it makes sense....
To start with i was waiting for that "blip" moment to happen -it was a case of WHEN not IF it would happen, but it hasn't

Im actually finding it easier and easier to keep going...i thought i would have lost my momentum by now and be on my usual slippery slope, but i really think that it hasn't happened because this way of eating fits in with my lifestyle -rather than me trying to fit my life around what i can and can't eat.

1 take away or piece of cake has no effect on me at all..if i want it, i eat it, enjoy it and then its done :T .

I still have about 6st to shift :rotfl: ..... just want to get to my 5st loss then i will be half way :D .....
If you are worried about keeping going, i would focus on just the next mini goal or even the next weigh in etc...because when you have a lot to lose it can seem endless...
the fact that you are finding it easy, hopefully means that you have adjusted enough to make a difference and lose weight but not soooo drastic that it isnt sustainable :T

Oh did anyone see the "eat yourself thin" programme the other day/ -it might be a repeat out here.. anyway they were doing oven chips... and i am going to give them a go later in the week...
they cut the raw potatoes as usual, but instead of using any oil at oil, they broke up an egg white and tossed the potatoes in that and then sprinkled a little cajun spice on and shoved them in the oven -they looked really nice..so im gonna have to give them a go..although i may use different seasoning....

If it works its ingenious :D

well i had better get off again now i have waffled AGAIN :p

keep at it folks...we are getting there

:T Rosewood..... well done...so pleased for you :D

whoo hoo frogga....hope you are ok mrs ;)

  • Was really pleased with my self-control yesterday. Went round to a friend's house to play with their pooch and whereas usually I would have had loads of naughties like chocolates (he's always got a tin of Roses on the go), dry roast peanuts and a choc ice as well as a couple of cans of lager, this time I just had 1 lager and some pretzels that I had taken with me (which I shared with the dog :D) - I still felt like I'd had a treat but I stuck to my daily limit plus walked there and back instead of taking the car.

    So far today have had:-
B: cereal skim milk and blueberry juice
L: pasta with egg white and turkey rashers mixed with low fat mayo and mustard and a big salad
and I think I'll do some sausage and mash for tea and sling some horseradish in the mash for a bit of kick.
    I'd rather be watching CSI!

    Afternoon All,

Welcome to the newbys, hello to my old pals :T

Trying not to be a missery today :D Had some good news at work so trying to be possitive.

I have decieded what my problem is , It's very deep and meaningful though so pardon me while I unburden myself

I feel a bit of a nelly writing this, but you dont know me in real life so why should I worry? ;)

I have always felt that I wasn't good enough. I try SO HARD to be the perfect wife and mother that I always go OTT. I am trying to make up for not being a good enough daughter. I know I do it and I embarrass myself sometimes with OTT gestures . I think I try too hard to get people to like me. Anyway, I'm rambling ( see, it's catching MrsM!)

When I go on a D**T I do the "all or nothing" approach. I think to myself , " right as of tomorrow I am NEVER eating Chocolate again!" and then I feel bereaved as I miss it :o and in preparation of the D**T I stuff like mad as if the world is ending. Consequently getting bigger and bigger  I cant seem to do the moderation thing

I am going to try REALLY hard to eat WHAT I WANT but not be a piggy :D I have bought a bar of Vegan Choc and will have 1 square if I need it after tea. I also have been having only fruit for Breakfast as I was told it was good to clean you out , but it's not enough. I get hungry and then stuff. I also think I need to leave my purse at home to stop me buying stuff on the way home.

In the last week I have been craving Cadbury's Creme Eggs. Sainsbugs sell 3 for £1.00. I have been buying 6 at a time and have had to go back EVERY day to get more. For 5 days last week I had 6 a day. I keep saying to the lady at the check out that the Tadpoles have friends coming round so I'm buying them all a treat! :o I'm such a liar! I am ADDICTED to CCE's! I haven't had one today though

    Happy Birthday Saversarn :D
