    Good Morning Everyone,
Well done to all you losers out there, very inspirational reading and great big squidgy :grouphug: to everyone who isn't feeling great.

I really think the awful weather is to blame for everyone feeling gloomy/down. I can't wait for Spring, I hate waking up and it's still all dark and then being stuck indoors because of the heavy rain. I get real 'cabin fever' and go a bit nuts :D

I've taken on board a lot of your suggestions and advice and I'm starting to look at realistic ways I can change - not only my eating habits but get generally more healthy. Ones I've liked so far are
1- Get out for a walk every day if possible. I am looking to find a coffee shop about a half hours walk away as suggested on here so I have somewhere to 'go' to. The only thing is I live at the top of a very steep hill so it's fine going down into town but I don't think my knees could stand the strain coming back up LOL.

2 -Write down everything I've eaten, and try to plan what I am actually going to have as meals. I am hoping this will avoid the "fling open the fridge and grab the nearest quickest (and usually the most unhealthy) food"

3 - Drink water - I love my cuppa and usually have about 6-8 big mugsful a day but I'm going to see if I can add a couple of pints of water to that. I like the idea of keeping a plastic bottle full near the computer and then hopefully I will drink it without noticing IYSWIM! I don't like squash, and I don't like the diet drinks because of the taste of the artificial sweetener.

4 - Keep coming on here! Probably the most helpful thing I can do for myself. I love reading everyone's posts, their triumphs and struggles. It is a very good thing for me to see that I am not alone in how I feel, and I am very grateful for that.

That's about it for now. I'll try and pop back on this evening after a 'hopefully' reasonable day. Take care..Dumpling xxxx

Good morning everyone :hello: hope everyones feeling well today.

Dumpling - re the water, I can't drink loads of plain water (its too boring:rolleyes:) so I've got a 1lt sports bottle (£1 from sainsburys) which I have a make up a 1lt of no-added-sugar squash in it, and try to have at least a bottle a day. Because its in a sports bottle I can take it around in my bag with me too :) Means I can have squish at work too, it helps to keep me a bit more awake on nights.

Yesterday was quite a good day, I had my porridge when I got home with raisins, honey & cinnamon, then had some HM mushroom soup with some HM cheesy bread soldiers. OH wanted a grilled chicken sandwich, and if he was having I was having one too! Mines was the healthier option though, made with pitta bread and plenty of salad, followed by S&V snackajacks. Missed dinner cos I fell asleep. I had planned on making thai red chicken curry with the leftover grilled chicken but my dog got to the 2 x leftover chicken breasts before I remembered to put them in the fridge

So far today I've had my porridge with mashed up banana and a bit of honey (gorgeous!!), I'm gonna have some soup for lunch which I'll go make in a bit, no ideas yet for dinner, I've got some tuna steaks need using up, maybe with couscous or a jackpot  Weigh day tomorrow :j

Hope you all have a great day,
    Stacie

   I can't even imagine doing that! :D

The rain has finally stopped so I'm going to grab my stick this morning and hot foot it round to the local newsagents for my tv mag. It's probably only a 5 min walk for most of you but the way I waddle slowly, I'm wondering if I need to pack a lunch.

Think I'll take some painkillers first and rub some emu oil on my knees. :p

breakf't - Readybrek with fibresure in it. (Boots sent me lots to trial for them)
lunch - Boiled egg and HM seedy bread fingers
Tea - Egg fried rice... (will add some leftover turkey pieces from freezer)

MrsMc - Was just wondering, with you losing weight sucessfully for some months now, whether you find it gets easier or harder? Personally I'm finding it worryingly easy this time round; like I almost have a detachment or barrier around me, but not sure if its the St Johns Wort:rolleyes:

Have you hit rocky times yourself so far since you began last year? You always seem so positive.

A tip I learned many years ago was to weigh this out in bags and then put the bags back in the box or whatever container.

I weigh out 10-12 portions every time I get a new pack of rice, pasta etc and then I know what I am cooking. If there is 3 for dinner I grab 3 bags from the box and so on.

    HTH

gilly any chance you could let me know what a portion of rice / pasta etc should be - portion control is my downfall. if it's on the plate i'll eat it:o

first time i've read this thread and would like to join in if thats ok. i have lost 2 stone over a long period and have managed to keep it off:j but i've loads more to lose and will have to be strict with portions and exercise:eek:

just had rice krispies and semi-milk with a glass of oj. i poured out my cereal then decided to weigh it and to my surprise it was 30g so i seem to be ok with cereal portions.

  • Hi chardonnay! Well done on the 2 stone weight loss.

The packet of pasta I have here says to allow 50-70g per portion as a starter or 75-100g for a main course.
May all your dots fall silently to the ground.

Hey everyone, hope it's a good day for all. Feeling a bit rough - had a seriously upset tummy last night - adds to the weight loss tho I suppose but has left me feeling wiped out. So I'm having a big bowl of organic porridge with sliced banana and homemade soup for lunch. And then it's parents evening tonight so no idea what time I will end up eating.

I'm shattered, is it home time yet?

Morning. Not a good one - although sunny. Car wouldn't start. OH shouted at me about it all, and I got upset and stressed and when the car got going, nearly hit a car :o

Not sure OH if is talking to me

Breakfast was porridge and stewed apples.
Lunch is baked potato and left over mince sauce
Tea is omelette (coz I couldn't be bothered to skin the chicken thighs ;) )
working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?
  • I've lost 1 and a half stone in six months! it may not seem like much, but ive been following a basic diet of just exercising and i have literally cut all the nonsense out of my diet. Shopping at local markets saves a fortune, and eating fresh food is so much better for you, im loving the healthiness. I also find that drinking green tea and ginseng tea is amazing!

    Hya folks

Just popped in to give my food for the day. Survived the dentist, even though I was late getting there...my car was all frosted up this morning, took me ages to defrost and get rid of the condensation inside!

    So today:

B: Special K, dried berries, soya milk + OJ
S: none yet...maybe fruit, once mouth has got its feeling back!
L: not sure, something warm....HM soup?
    S: ?
D: HM salmon fishcakes, using a big tin of salmon from the cupboard...must get the tatties on and take mackerel out of freezer for DS2..only fish he likes...at least it's cheap!
    S: SF jelly

Hopefully I can cut the carbs down today, yesterday was SO bad! That reminds me, must take the chocolate sponge pudding and chocolate sauce round to my neighbour, otherwise it won't see beyond lunchtime (you can only resist for so long!)! :D

Off back to the college work...there is so much of it...hope to get most of it sorted today, then perhaps I can reward myself with a session in the garden, I soooo want to be out there tidying up, but work and a bad back have stopped me recently.

Off to hang out the second wash...shall I go for another? I hear the sheets beckoning! It's such a lovely drying day!

Ta ta for now, enjoy the sun if you have it!

    M
