I've been trying to buy a smart TV form Pixmania. When it arrived we arranged a technician to help us install and show us how to use it. After about an hour of messing with leads etc, he discovered that that set was not UK compliant. Pixmania, when we phoned, seemed aware of the problem and we had the set collected for return.
We failed to return the lead, as it was already installed behind furniture etc. Whe Pixmania did not acknowledge receipt of the package, I phoned them up, to be told that the WHOLE SET was being returned to us (from France) so that I could put the lead in the box! After about 6 calls to their CS I managed to get them to intercept the delivery, making it clear that we would be away from home at the likely time of arrival. I asked why they hadn't just asked ne to return the lead separately, and they just apologised. I posted the elad off a week ago and now - guess what? - they can't trace the package. I have sent them the postage receipt, and the row continues with daily phone calls. They won't return any of my money as their useless logistics system has probably mislaid the package.
Oh, and although they told me they had no UK-compliant set to offer as replacement, the model is still advertised on their website. I am not pushing this, though, as I don't want one from them after this.
They refuse to refund the £45 we paid for the installer, offering me instead £15 off a future purchase. FUTURE PURCHASE? They must be kidding! Yes, tell Watchdog, tell everyone!0 -
Just wanted to defend Pixmania a little here because very recently, this thread terrified the life out of me when I purchased a faulty harddrive from Pixmania and thought I was out of pocket. Not only did Pixmania collect the hard drive from me they also refunded within a couple of weeks. Overall, whilst I wouldn't buy from them again because I didn't realise they were in France adn I wouldn't take the chance, I actually can't fault their customer service in my particular case.I'll have some cheese please, bob.0

I recently bought a Samsung TV from Pixmania (cheapest by £20) without looking into it too closely (I had spent several days deciding which set to buy by reading reviews etc). It was described as HD but after a week or so trying to get HD I read further into the website description where it became clear that their sets were not fitted with UK HD tuners. By this time I had read up on Pix via this forum & was expecting the worst. The TV by the way was excellent so at least I would end up with a good set, albeit no HD. I emailed Pix explaining the problem & they straight away agreed to refund in full and emailed all the documentation & labels for it to be picked up by UPS. I arranged pick-up with UPS and it was collected as arranged on the Wednesday afternoon for return to France. Two days later, Friday afternoon, the full amount was back in my PayPal account. All this without making a single phone call. This is my own case, I can`t speak for others, but I would not have expected this level of service from 99% of British companies. Top marks from me. :T0

Not everyone would need the HD tuner, that is just for Freeview. if it is being connected to a dish, other Freeview source, DVD/Bluray player, console or PC then the tuner is not needed and the TV would work in the same way as the UK version in all other aspects.
Just because one of the possible features isn't available doesn't mean that other people don't want a good price on a TV to use the other features0 -

Not so. I didn`t read the description correctly. As someone else has pointed out the TV works perfectly, and is in fact an excellent buy if you don`t require the HD facility.0 -
Just ordered a new £400 tv from then....and promptly cancelled said order 5 mins later after reader various horror stories on the net (including these).
Thanks for the heads up and teach me to read site reviews BEFORE ordering....just hope there'll be no issue with refund on my CC.0
