Pixmania did not even attempt to recitify the problem or to send another before Christmas. 2 months later they have still not refunded the money. They asked to prove who I am so I send a copy of my gas bill - no response. Chased them and they said it had to have my photo on, don't ask me why because they don't know what I look like. I felt having to prove who I am to get my money refunded is unacceptable. No apology given at all for ruining my daughter Christmas.

er...at the risk of repeating myself....
Don't waste time on Pi55mania...get onto your credit or debit card holder and instigate a chargeback or failing that a Section 75 refund claim. [They will try to fob you off with 'you must deal with the supplier first', tell them you have and insit they [the card co] sort it. threaten them with the Banking Ombudsman.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. PLEASE DON'T BUY FROM THIS COMPANY WHO ARE BASED IN FRANCE AND WHO WILL GIVE YOU THE ROYAL RUNAROUND. SEARCH THE INTERNET TO SEE THEY HAVE A BAD REPUTATION>
My problem was similar. I ordered goods on a credit card and they took the money but never sent the goods. Time passed, so I contacted them and they said they needed a copy of my passport before they would send the goods! If they wanted proof of who I was they should have said so at the time of the order.
Had I known about issuing a chargeback at the time, I would have done so and paid extra to buy from elsewhere. Remember, they are a France-based company, and your goods may arrive in the UK with a europlug (illegal) with instructions in French and the only recourse to law is by by going to a French Court
Anyway, I got the goods but will never buy from them again.0 -
hi a bit off topic i know but i bought a lg 50ps3000 of these clowns 18 months ago and its stopped working. although it states on their site that products have a 24month garantee they dont i have been in touch with consumer direct and have paid £8 to send letters to lg and pixmania demanding free repair or replacement as 18 months is not long for a £700 telly to last. awaiting replies0

Your camera may not arrive because they are waiting for a copy of your passport (even though they don't tell you and have taken your money).
Assuming your camera arrives, the instructions may only be in French, and the mains adaptor may have a European plug on it (illegal). If you need to instigate legal proceedings, be prepared to submit your claim in a French Court as your transaction will not come within the jurisdiction of any UK Court.0 -

okay i read the first page, and was alarmed that this place was still selling in UK. It is even advertised as a seller for some major camera brands in the UK!
Thanks for the tip...will avoid...now it just make it harder where to buy my camera from at decent price!0 -

That hasn't been true since early 2009:
How to Lodge a European Small Claim
The procedure is very similar to the domestic small claims court. You will need to fill in a ESCP claim form, which you should be able to obtain from your local county court or the HMCS (Her Majesty’s Courts Service) website. Once you have completed the form, you should lodge it with your local county court along with evidence to prove the debt, such as correspondence, an unpaid invoice, et cetera.
On receiving the claim the debtor has thirty days to respond. They will either admit the claim, dispute all or part of the claim, or do nothing at all. If they dispute some or all of the claim, they will have to file a counterclaim to which you will need to respond, if you disagree.
The procedure works the same as a normal UK Small Claims Court case, except in Denmark, which hasn't adopted the process into Law.
I was progressing down this route 12 months ago against Nissan Ireland for about £9000. As soon as I sent them a Notice Before Action letter, they rolled over and settled my claim in full.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -

I looked at Pixmania when I bought my first digital compact camera years ago.
They are usually at the top of the price comparison websites.
The fact that they sold 'grey' imports and didn't provide English manuals put me off.
I've bought my last 2 cameras from UK Digital, they offer a 2 year warranty (or did when I bought), I found them pretty competitive on price and they've been fine with delivery.
