Or maybe disappointment as a club admin that our members have lost out because of others either cashing in on it, or complaining about not being able to have it themselves.

Look back at my posts and you'll see my intentions here were to shed light on the repercussions such actions as here can have.

I seem to be repeating myself alot, again... it matters because people uneligible for a card have simply been getting one by coming to us, people would find such information about that on sites like this

I'm sure most guys on here do. But this is a public forum, information about this place advertising how to get a card simply by paying for it spreads around.... hell, Halfords got wind of it for a start.

If halfords dont like it then they could simply withdraw the card altogether then, it just means we go back to our old ways, use halfords to compare things and then buy from a local factors at a fair price.simple.

if someone is not eligible then how does getting a card through your club make it ok? because they sent you a subscription fee?

what part of LSI's posts are you not reading.

up untill people "jumped on the band wagon" by being a member of our club they were " Eligible" by definition of the fact we were given the cards for use of our Members.

That would be GENUINE members not LEECHES from money saving sites

remember where you are eddy, this site is full of LEECHES.

if halfords have given out tradecard to LEECHES from this site then even although they are LEECHES they must still be eligible LEECHES as they have the card.

anyway, im in the trade,so my card couldnt be more legitimate, so maybe i should be angry that members of enthusiast clubs are enjoying benefits only folk in the trade should get,but im not, i couldnt care any less if i tried. im quite happy for everyone to enjoy low realistic prices, if your not then you must have some kind of superiority complex.

my keyboards playing up, every time i go to write LEECHES the caps lock goes on, i see you have the same problem edward, lets hope i dont need to write the word GENUINE. doh!

Quick question - who accepted all the many new membership requests for your little club?

When those membership requests were accepted (and the fees paid into your account ;)), those individuals were thereby accepted as members of your club, yes?

So really, it's your club's greed for all the extra membership fees that led to the withdrawal of the trade card (assuming this is the reason it was withdrawn).

Ah, but were they GENUINE members?

Are you alleging that VxON are merely LEECHES of MoneySavingExpert.com?

I'm having the same problem with my caps as Eddy B and goldspanners :D

We've had people try an obtain a card in store, without actually working in the trade, and simply being a home mechanic.
On all attempts a card has been declined.

I got mine 3 weeks ago as a home mechanic. No problems whatsoever. No questions asked. Since then a few of my mates have had cards - none of whom work in the trade, but are keen motoring enthusiasts. Halfords do require documentation to support a trade card application - but that's easy enough to sort out and takes 5 minutes. Granted, they have tightened things up a bit, but it is still comparitivelly easy to get one. I realise it's strictly speaking meant for 'trade' only, but there are ways for enthusiasts to get it, and I would guess that Halfords are 100% aware of this.

Furthermore, the comment regarding VxON losing out and other clubs getting a slice of the pie, I find a particularly selfish notion. This pie of which you speak is not some freely available good fortune, we approached Halfords some years ago regarding the concept, and the rest is history, our loss should not be considered someone else's gain anymore than someone's loss of wealth should be someone else's gain, I fail to see any fair logic in that atall, personally.

Why can't one person's loss be another person's gain? Seems perfectly logical to me. Life isn't an easy ride. There are winners and losers. Other clubs are as free to approach Halfords as VxON (of which I am a former member by the way, including Migweb and 2 other Vauxhall car specific clubs) were. Just because VxON has lost this valuable and useful membership carrot, it does not mean that other clubs shouldn't consider applying for a similar 'status' does it?

After all, if (or when!) RBS pulls out of supporting the 6 Nations Rugby Championship, does it mean that other sports can't approach them to sponsor their events?

Goldspanners - Where you see a post from Eddy B and LSI, take a deep breath and realise they are trolls. They are simply annoyed that their little club perk has gone. If the people who wanted one, and can justify it, get to Halfords.

On a separate note, if you are daft enough to own a Vauxhall....

As Goldspanners said, who can be enthusiastic about an Astra?

    Now - back on topic!

    SIP Migmate Welding Tips 0.8mm - RRP £4.99 - Trade £4.49 - Saving £0.50
    SIP Gasless Wire 0.8mm 1lb - RRP £14.99 - Trade £13.49 - Saving £1.50

    Keep those savings coming!

(Although it was probobly the cheaper price in B&Q anyway)!!

the right decision made by halfords, why should one club who brown nosed and advertised halfords products be exclusive to the card?
its a trade card, not a vx enthusiasts card. get over it and if you really want a card there are other ways of getting one.

It's not ok for a car club to hold trade card status with Halfords because they don't really deserve it, but it's ok to openly advise members of this forum how to fake trade status in order to gain a card ?

I fully support the members of that particular club, their partnership with Halfords has worked well for both parties, and I think it's a shame that their status has been revoked because of nothing more than petty mindedness from other car clubs.

As a Halfords store manager, I feel it only fair to the legitimate members of the trade card scheme that this "back door" trade affiliation you so readily support should be looked into further.

As far as I've seen (and I read this thread regularly) nobody's been advised how to 'fake trade status' - MSE is about using legal & genuine methods to save money within companies' terms and conditions and the site does not encourage or condone fraud.
