Moliere, the possibility of one breakign is so small, and htey last for so long once theyare on a socket, I think you are woried over nothing. Florescent bulbs have always had mercury in them, and they are more likely to break as they are more fragile. And the amount of mercury is miniscule as well. There is more mercury in a thermometer!0

Morning everyone!
Dont you just hate getting out of bed these dark mornings!
I shall be making some Broccolli & stilton soup (got stilton to use up), and ive still got loads of chickpeas left after making hummus - any suggestions?? without having to go and buy further items and costing more money than originally if i'd thrown them in the bin!!!:rotfl:
Made mincepies & hobnobs yesterday, so just some sort of bakewell tart to use up the flaked almonds and i'm done!
In Sainsburys yesterday I got DH a new Santa outfit £5 (as we couldnt find his one anywhere) and then I spotted their Mincemeat Large jar for 29p!!! I couldnt resist a bargain :wall: I shall have mincepies coming out of my ears at this rate!!:rotfl:
Off to the gym today, and the ironing I didnt do yesterday and then I'm off to meet BargainRzl tonite to give her a dvd and a new year drink!:D
Off to rally the troops now! ......have a good day all xxx

SCUZZ - You'll make yourself ill if you carry on like this. Surely your boss can't insist you start so early when it is not what you agreed? Any sign of your contract yet?
Basically there are two shifts which are covered by two people, and because the other person (who's been made my senior) wanted my shift, she got it, as she's the boss's favourite. I asked again for my contract on Friday and apparently there was no one at Head Office to answer the query. I know they're holding off, cos they're worried I won't sign, which will amount to unfair dismissal and they know I'd take action. However, if I don't get a new contract, it amounts to breach of contract, so they can't win either way.
On the good front, I've found three jobs to apply for this morning, one in London, one in Brighton and one in West Sussex somewhere. So hopefully something will come up.
Also I've lost 2lbs this year - another 16 to go!!Comping, Clicking & Saving for Change0 -
Scuzz, tell them they have 1 week to get your new contract to you. Go to CAB as ewll; you can't let them get away with it, and in just leaving, you will let them win. Get your shift back, then leave if you really dont' want to work there anymore!0

Morning all,
I'm back at work again, but I did leave early (7pm) last night. OH had given a lecture in the pathology department so can down to meet me after work which was sweet of him - and it means I got my bike back as collected his from college. Sadly he's damaged it quite badly, the gears will need repairing and he's as pulled off the chain guard, so I shredded my favorite pair of trousers on the way home. I don't think I can repair them either, as it's quite a large tear.
Still, OH has taken over the housework for the time being due to my work committements, which is sweet of him, he even commented thet it "wasn't easy being me" last night and said he would help more generally. Result!
Hope you get your work stuff sorted out soon scuzz:staradmin:starmod: beware of geeks bearing .gifs...:starmod::staradmin:starmod: Whoever said "nothing is impossible" obviously never tried to nail jelly to a tree :starmod:0 -
Good morning everyone,
Had a big day in town yesterday and was just too lazy to post last night. DH didn't start work today after all. Rain has set back in  and it's forecast for the next 6 days. Unfortunately his work site will be too boggy. The plus side is that my inbuilts are coming along nicely. The cabinet is getting started tomorrow.
XDIL & DGS arrived home early yesterday evening and had tea here. I made a veggie saus casserole in the slow cooker tonight. They had them reduced at the supermarket yesterday. It was quite nice. Froze another 2 portions for other times. Tennis starts on Monday. :T
Shez Have a lovely time with Rzl.
Mrs Mix
Twink & Kyle Thinking of you both.
You will all have to tell me how the telly programme went with Lillibet. I won't get to see it of course. Hope you all have a nice day. ByeeeeeeeeeeeeeeDon't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0 -
Thanks ODDSNSODS. I don't usually worry like that but, as a former dental nurse, we had to treat mercury as hazardous and had to put notices up everywhere explaining how to deal with it. It's quite a rigmarole and involves protective clothing and sprinking the mercury spill with flowers of sulphur. I just think that if they are going to force these light bulbs on us they should make sure they don't contain mercury. I'm going to read up a bit more about them and how to dispose of them when they burn out. I don't like the light they give, anyway, and they appear to be creating health problems in certain people. It also annoys me that Curry's have said they will only stock these new light bulbs (which still have to be shipped in because we don't manufacture them ourselves!) because they are so keen on saving energy, yet my local branch has about thirty televisions switched on all day! Not the least bit energy-saving.
Anyway, thanks for the advice and, as I say, I will find out a bit more before I condemn them completely!
SCUZZ - good luck with the jobs you have found to apply for. You derserve to get the best one! And well done on the weight loss!
PAM - good luck getting an appointment at the doctors.
Well, I have achieved quite a lot already this morning and just need to pop to the village then I can come back and get on with the piles of paperwork cluttering up my office.
I'd better get a wiggle on so will call back later.

Morning everyone.
Tru another csi fan here, last nights programme was brilliant, been waiting so long to find out what happened!!! ( i had csi board game for xmas its adictive!!)
Well didnt get chance to post this morning, as was running late again, but got kids to school on time and did my first visit of the day to the post office on the way home. Still have about 6 things to post and 2 still need wrapping but they are unusual shapes so have to start making boxes out of cardboard (why dont i think of these things before listing them!!!)
Need to do 2 loads of washing to clear baskets and have a deep clean of the bathroom, is it just me having 4 males in the house whos bathrooms get in such a mess after only one nights use!!!!!!! It looks like it hasnt been cleaned for weeks, they never pull the plug out so end up with scum marks, toothpaste everywhere on the tiles, front of sink, floor!! Never hit the flipping toilet just the walls and the seat!!!! ARHHHHHHHHHHHHH.
Right off for another coffee before i get started

Morning, bit breezy here today, but having heard about all the folk in Scotland with no power, I feel fortunate.
Hope Twink, Kyle & GB and all others over the wall are OK and not too badly affected.
I did notice a broken slate in front of the hoise this morning, checked the cars and it doesn't appear to have hit them. Phew!
I will get OH to have a look at the roof, from over the road, but as we need to get scaffolding up to get to the roof, I'll have to hope it's not too bad.
Off to Slimming World this morning, hopefully I will be back within my target range and not have to pay next week.
Probably some sort of pasta arrabiata for tea, my gang quite like that.
Off to put on some lightweight clothes.
Hugs to Scuzz and Hester, you both sound harrassed this morning.
Love to poorly ones.
