LaCie 320 & 500 GB External USB & Network Hard Drive - Surely not £22?

I ordered a tv from E and G direct through Amazon in the hope that I may get it for a measly £29.99, I have also had the canceled order email.
Strange thing is my bank account available balance has decreased by the amount of the order as if the order is going ahead. It doesn't neccesarily mean the money is going to be taken, I just wondered if it has happened to anyone else?
So close to a cracking tv for £30.
The Amazon order has completely gone not a trace to be found in my account too.0 -

Just like everyone else on here I also placed an order that night... However, I came across the item in question whilst browsing the Amazon website after a few beers down the local. It's true the price did seem too good to be true, however this time of year crazy sales are the norm! I therefore placed my order, received the email confirmation and went to bed. The next morning I received a call from my credit card company asking if they could check a transaction, it just happened to be the Amazon order so payment was clearly made! I'm sure the money has been refunded since, but still doesn't change the fact it was taken in the first place. Not sure if that changes things legally, but interesting none the less! As others have said, it would have been nice if the Seller/Amazon would admit it was an error with pricing on the site. The fact they did not do this and it took almost 48 hours to cancel the order makes you wonder just where we all stand! Obviously if they did email everyone the truth, then it could be used against them legally... Just a thought0 -

Wow! This is amazing.....look at all the 'long-time' lurkers this has made angry and so finally have had to express their (irrelevant) views....not by helping others but by annoying others.......buzz off and lurk again please
Doozeruk. I guess you are referring to me as one of your long time lurkers. I cannot deny that so I won't. Plenty of people only ever lurk on forums, there is nothing whatsoever wrong with that. If I found a good deal, I would post it - but I haven't yet beaten any of you professionals to it - usually have better things to do with my time I'm afraid.
Just for the record, I'm not angry so much as saddened by some ppl's over-reaction to this, and how consumerist (which often = greedy) some people have become.
Now, as you requested, I shall go off for another lurk...0 -

I think it is quite fair enough for you to be classed as a 'non-lurker' with 60 posts to your name.......:D I have seen this stuff so many times before though and like you, I see so much GREED these days on here.....I work for a small business and mistakes can happen, please people have a heart.....its not a life or death situation...youv'e lost nothing except your 'anticipation':oThe early bird may get the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.0 -

I think you're right about the greed.I was a lurker on this site long before I actually joined it.
I check the grabbit board most days but generally post only when I have something to contribute - which isn't that often!
Apologies for going further off topic(a cardinal sin on grabbit,I know) but I think the problem with MSE as a forum is that it's a massively busy site with a huge number of members, most of whom are virtually anonymous to each other.
Cross-posting, misunderstanding and redundancy seems to be the order of the day...which is another reason why I mostly lurk.0 -
everyone now chill we are not going to get them (a shame I know) but we were all trying our luck and to be honest did we really think we were going to get them for that price (in your heart you know the answer was no) so good try to all but it's done now. To all the people how I believe are being unfairly rude please stop it your comments are not asked for or needed this is a grabit board and we are all looking for a bargin, most of the times they come about due to a company c**k up and we luckly sometimes pick up a deal that sometimes saves us a lot of money which we most of us need to save.
to the person who took the time to post the find in the first place (thank you) you found it then tool the time to could and post it so we could all save money (if the orders had been ok'd) but this time no dice oh well here's to finding the next one0 -
ok allow the spelling mistakes above it's late but you know what I mean0

I know it's a !!!! up at their end, but the e-mail was utter tosh.
I wasn't expecting them to honour any of these, but an honest e-mail saying we screwed up would have gone down a lot better with everyone.
Mistakes happen and we try and take advantage of these, but when companies basically lie about their mistakes, then that's what gets people's backs up.
Very poor show.0 -

I agree... However, it's not just the seller that is lying! I emailed Amazon asking why the order was cancelled when the same seller is currently advertising the items as in stock on Amazon.co.uk. I got back a pretty much standard email stating that sometimes items go out of stock and that I should try to order again when back in stock (not much help!) Anyhow, at the end of the email it stated that payment had been declined by my bank as another reason for the order being cancelled. I find that very hard to believe as my credit card company actually called that morning to confirm the transation and once confirmed stated it had gone through succesfully. So in short, neither side is doing itself any favours.
The main concern however is that the T&C's at Amazon obviousbly mean nothing... Therefore, how can you rely on any proteciton they also offer buyers? I most certainly won't be making another purchase from Marketplace just in case!0
