The initial email sent (which is the thing that has really !!!!ed people off) was, and still is unbelievable. I can quite honestly confess to it making me the angriest I've ever been in my entire life (40+)
What a sheltered life some of us lead. I am 37 and I must confess I was not even bothered by the email. I must have had a hard life!0 -
Personal attacks, incredibly rude language and pedantic spelling complaints, I give this thread until the Mods wake up0

so what's this thread all about again.....
come on people don't spoil it for the rest of us.....please.Use your judgement, and above all, be honest with yourself.I walk with the world & the world walks with me!I don't make bad choices!!! Other people just fail to see my GENIUS !!!!0 -
I paid £22 each for two Items.
You can get the credit providers to apply some pressure.
If you paid by credit card they are reponsible to ensure that you get the goods you buy but this only applies if you spend over £100 (I think) so does not apply to most. Give it a try - at the least it will be inconvenient for them..
I once booked some flights, travel agent went bust, Rebooked same flights for £300 more and the credit card Co. re-imbursed the £300.0 -
If you google "Electronics and Gadgets Direct", the first hit is "mattycaysgadgets.com". It shows the same address as the one given on Amazon, together with a Sutton phone number. It looks like the domain expired on 31/12/2007. What's the likelihood the seller has gone bust and was planning to go out with a bang?
Maybe the current Electronics and Gadgets Direct on Amazon is a new account with the same name? Be wary :rolleyes:0 -
Hah! Just got this...
Dear Customer
We are writing regarding your recent order XXX-XXXXXXX-XXXXXXX with a third party seller, E&G, via the Amazon.co.uk Marketplace platform.
You were erroneously sent an e-mail stating that the reason for the order cancellation was due to a supply issue. The seller has informed us the reason your order was cancelled was because the price for the item was displayed incorrectly at the time you placed your order.
Despite best efforts, pricing errors can occasionally occur. All affected orders have now been cancelled by the seller. Should you have any further concerns in relation to the pricing error please contact the seller directly.
Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience.
We look forward to serving you again in the future.
Thank you for shopping via Amazon.co.uk Marketplace.
Warmest regards,
Customer Service

Me too. Looks like someone has decided to own up to the mistake, or has been reading this thread and decided to try some damage limitation! Never mind, I never actually thought I would get it so cheap! Was worth a try though!:)0

Well we finally get the truth (which we all knew anyway).
Whilst we were all trying our luck I am still a little annoyed on two fronts:
Firstly the terms and conditions clearly state there is a contract and yet Amazon are ignoring this fact and trying to indicate there is not a contract. So they are still trying to pull the wool over everyones eyes. As stated before this is designed to favour the retailer 99% of the time but they are quick to avoid the issue when you get that odd occassion when it works in the consumers favour.
Secondly I am disappointed such a large online retailer such as Amazon has tried to wash thier hands of the whole affair without even suspending the seller. Yes it was a mistake but it has been poorly handled from start to finish and the point several people have made is would the terms and conditions have been ignored if one of the consumers had "made a mistake".
I am sure this just goes to prove the age old adage that Honest is the best policy.
I wonder if Nicky Campbell would enjoy a few minutes quizzing the Amazon CEO on Watchdog? Would be nice just to see him/her eat a bit of humble pie!!0 -
One other point is that my email has also got a link to the office of fairtrading and the citizens advice bureau saying if I believe that a contract has been breached to contact them.
Implying that there may have been a contract.0 -
If you want more details on www.mattycaysgadgets.com you can easily do a whois lookup for a valid phone number.0
