I got this, amazon being coated in Teflon shifting everything to E&G.
Dear Customer
We are writing regarding your recent order # with a third party seller, E&G, via the Amazon.co.uk Marketplace platform.
You were erroneously sent an e-mail stating that the reason for the order cancellation was due to a supply issue. The seller has informed us the reason your order was cancelled was because the price for the item was displayed incorrectly at the time you placed your order.
Despite best efforts, pricing errors can occasionally occur. All affected orders have now been cancelled by the seller. Should you have any further concerns in relation to the pricing error please contact the seller directly.
Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience.
We look forward to serving you again in the future.
Thank you for shopping via Amazon.co.uk Marketplace.
Warmest regards,
Customer Service
Amazon.co.uk
This is what is on your order confirmation:
Please note that for items ordered from Amazon.co.uk this e-mail is only an acknowledgement of receipt of your order and your contract to purchase these items is not complete until we send you an e-mail notifying you that the items have been dispatched to you. For items purchased from third parties in Marketplace, zShops or Auctions, this e-mail confirms the completion of your contract to purchase those items.
So really they should honour your order as you do have a contract with them, or offer you something.
So it is all up to you people if you want to start emailing E & G directly.0 -
I think it is clear that there is a contract here (unlike many previously high profile cases). However looking up the address and details of the domain owner I suspect this is someone operating out of a garage from thier home premises so it is unlikely that we are going to get our orders.
I think it would be fair (though probably not legally enforceable) that as Amazon set these terms and conditions where the Marketplace seller is unable to meet a contract then Amazon should step in to resolve the issue.0 -
From the horses mouth for anyone who is interested.
Though I still think there is a contract here!!!!
Hi Carl,
Unfortunately there was an error in the upload of our inventory file. The reason for cancellation was also incorrectly sent as the system defaulted to "Out of Stock" as opposed to " Pricing Error/General Adjustment".
We can assure you that no money was ever taken and therefore there was no "Contract to Purchase".
Apologies for the inconvenience this may have caused you.
Regards,
Matt

Yer I think most people did a long time ago.0 -

The purchaser therefore did not, by his acceptance of the offer, make a binding contract with the seller.
So, the two key points, in relation to price, for a valid contract to be form are as follows.- You didn’t believe the price was a mistake.
- A reasonable person, in the market to buy such an item, wouldn’t have realised there was a mistake.
The external hard drive that was offered by Dell in August of last year was a different matter. Those people that knew the legal position, and pressed Dell on the matter, ended up with an alternative product free of charge.古池や蛙飛込む水の音0 -
Thanks Alfie E, good post and explains things adequately for this particular case. As I said earlier, I'd ordered before I saw this thread as I'd been watching a product where the price has been up and down like a yoyo on amazon, but such is life.
I know this doesn't apply in this instance, but what difference does it make if the company you order with processes payment?0 -
Altho I didnt purchase this,I have bought something recently which is still in the balence due to an error.
I think personally alot of people shouldnt be angry at the pricing error, which from the sounds of it some of you are, everyone makes mistakes.
To be honest I think its more a case of the bigger guy crushing the little guy and the legal mumbo jumbo being very grey.....bad customer service and vague answers also adding to it.
I know if it was me in the situation,as long as my card hadnt been charged and the order taken off because of a mis price and being owned up to in the first place id feel alot better about the whole thing.....luckily im in a complete other mess so I shall get back to that *wanders off*Dec Wins : Gold Leaf Necklace

the problem is people want something for nothing (or very little)
nothing wrong with chancing your arm at an obvious error, but how can people get angry and bother writing emails etc for something i think 99% of the people knew wouldn't get honoured.0
