just been told Debenhams do this for cardholders as well - a colleague bought a dress before Xmas for £175 - it was reduced to £75 in the sale and she got the £100 credited to her account
  • Just got £5.48 back! I've used this before, but forgot all about it.... Thanks for the reminder!

I did try again, they 'researched the website and checked the discount history and found there was a price reduction before 30 days from the despatch date of my order and the price reduction on their website'.

I don't know but they they refunded £7.54, so it seems its worth asking them to check again for you.

    Thanks Martin!

    Ditto to Kari59

They rejected mine as it was outside the 30 days so I replied saying noticed a few days ago that this item had been reduced but I did not have time to make my claim until now. Could they just confirm the date of the reduction for me.

Now my refund is on its way!

Can anyone find the information on Amazon that relates to the price promise, I have been looking for the past 30 minutes to no avail. Please help!!

    Thanks

Don't know where to find it, why do you need to find it Gill? You don't need it to ask for a refund.;)

I tried this on a Christmas present my husband bought for me. He paid approx £70 (Amazon as seller); it is now on offer at £51 but because it is now through their Marketplace, they will not refund us the difference. This is the reply we got from them:

The discounts we offer for items on our website do vary from time to
time. I've checked your order #*** and found this
item "Logitech MM50 Portable Speakers for iPod - White" is now offer
a greater discount from a Marketplace seller than at the time you
    placed your order.

Please accept our apologies, but we are not able to adjust the price
of an order in instances where the greater discount is been offered
    by a Marketplace seller.

Again, I am sorry for any disappointment that this may cause. Thank
    you for shopping at Amazon.co.uk.

Needless to say we aren't very happy with Amazon and I would just like to warn others of this.

That's completely reasonable otherwise you'd get people creating listings at very low prices to get big refunds and all sorts going on.

I don't know why you're not happy - you accepted the price when you purchased it, it's good of Amazon to offer this on their own items, they're certainly under no obligation to do so and I don't know of many (if any) other places which operate a similar policy.
  • I have never been able to find the price promise on the UK site, but found it on the US one.

I ordered a DVD box set for my wife at Christmas, £200 in the UK but $189 in the US (it is region specific so you need a multi region disc player). It was sent to me on express international post (only a COUPLE OF BUCKS EXTRA!) so came to just over $200.

It still hadn't arrived and the price dropped to $129. I complained, and got a refund on the $60 difference because of the price promise.

It was only then that I found out about it, and searched for it on the UK one but have never found it. I am really pleased that someone has done this though and found it works here too!

I really wish I'd found out about this sooner because some of the things I bought have gone down in price but they're outside the 30 day claim period  Oh well, will just have to remember Amazon's policy for this year then!

try it anyway mine had dropped and i got a refund think it is if it drops in price within 30 days of your purchase not for you to claim within 30 days

I felt a bit silly asking for £2.98 back as the price differences. However sitting in my new dressing gown from the sales which was reduced to £6 its only cost me £3 really so happy!!

Amazon marketplace items aren't sold by amazon. Why should people be expecting the price promise to apply to outsiders?? Madness. Think about it!
