    Half term....
  • Hi, I have 2 credit cards, one with Halifax owing £6653 & the other is Vigin owing £4065
I'm paying around £78 pm interest & £57 pm on repayment cover for the Halifax card, yet my minimum payment is £140.46, so I'm not actually paying anything off of the balance!
With the Virgin card I'm paying around £48 pm interest & £32 pm lifestyle protect. My monthly minimun repayments went from approx £40 pm, to this month its over doubled to £88!
I need to try to get this sorted out, I can only afford around £200-£250 pm to spend on repaying them back at the moment. I don't know whether or not to get a new card with 0% balance transfer or the try the shuffle?
    Can someone please advise :-)
  • Has anyone applied for an Egg Money card recently to transfer a balance into a current account?? I need to pay of my overdraft and use the Egg Money card as a Mule but ive just been on the website and it looks like its going to charge me 8.9% for the transfer.

Does anyone know if this is correct as all the articles say you can transfer for 0%??
  • Hi,
I need some advice please regarding my credit cards. As a general question should you close the accounts once the balance transfer rates have finished and the account is clear?

In January this year my 0% 16 month balance transfer deal ended on my Virgin Credit Card. I have now transferred the remaining £2000 balance to the new Barclaycard 0% offer for 17 months which I'm hoping I will pay off during this time.

My Virgin Credit Card is now empty. I do not plan on using it as I don't want to get into more debt so my question is should I close this account or is it more beneficial to keep it open for future offers? How will it affect my credit rating?

I also have the old style Egg Card which I took in 1999 which I haven't used in a few years but I think I still receive the 0% Anniversary Offer on. I have an Egg Money card which is now zero. Both of these were previously used for balance transfers.

Finally I have my HSBC Mastercard which I do use occasionally for birthday & Xmas presents & one off spends. I only use this if I have to & I pay off the balance in full each month now. (My current accounts are with HSBC hence why I've chose to use this one making internet banking much easier)

Should I close the 2 Egg cards too and just retain my HSBC credit card?
    Thank you
  • Not a good idea
  • Its important to realise, there is no universal credit rating/score applicable to all lenders and all products, as lenders assess us differently.

There are many posts on this forum so it's a good idea to indicate which post is being responded to.

What isn't a good idea? Why isn't it a good idea?.
  • Hi all.

    New to the site!!! :p

I have a Barclay card with 0% interest on BT

I was wondering if I could transfer the balance from my Next directory card over to my Barclay card?

I thought It would be easier to pay off debts in one place, and save the interest rate that NEXT are charging me.

Any advice would be a god send.
    Many Thanks

It will need to be done as a purchase so you might be better getting a card with 0% on purchases for a while eg Tesco
I have a deep burning indifference
