Carphone Warehouse today in Ealing West London were drawing up posters for exisiting AOL customers to upgrade to WiFi and get a free laptop. I know this offer has been running for some time for new customers but I made them check that it applied to me as an exisiting (some 3 years or more) customer. It does! All I had to pay up front was £14.99 for delivery, then £19.99 per month for 2 years. Seems like a good deal to me, what do others think?

I've gone for the PS3 offer as a new customer!
Only thing I'm worried about is that they will increase prices to compensate for the free gifts given, within the two years you are stuck with them. This has been mentioned on tv before.
They do say on site they always offer competitive rate though. Guess they think most will find it to much hassle to change and stick with them after two years are up.0 -
What amount are you currently paying monthly? If £19.99 isn't too much higher then I'd say it sounds great. I'm with telewest (virgin now - gaaaah!) so I wouldn't sign up to this deal. Especially as it works out to about £500.
Actually virgin aren't too bad on a day to day basis. However, if you have a problem wiht your system, which has happened twice since the changeover, they are a lot slower than telewest were at sorting you out, and you now have to pay to phone a help number grrrrr!0 -
I'm currently paying 9.99 per month (Silver) but that is with a modem and the cable trails across the lounge floor, so have wanted to go WiFi for some time now. It's also handy to have a laptop. So I'm happy.Total debt May 2005 £83,232

Just checked the Dell website. The laptop is a Inspiron 1520 notebook, cost is £389 on the Dell website. So I am paying £10 a month for 24 months extra to what I am paying now, which comes to £280 plus I get WiFi and faster broadband. Still seems to good to be true to me.Total debt May 2005 £83,232

19.99 a month is expensive and the laptops are refurbished ones. have been with AOL for 7 years and recently upgraded to wifi. found it to be load of rubbish, so contacted AOL and they let me go back to my old aol at 9.99 a month. The also sent the free modem pack and we bought for 19.99 a belkin desktop wireless net work card works perfectly now and only a 12 month comittment.0

daughter checked out the offer when orange did it back in the summer, orange said they are all refurbs from vodaphone and stores like pc world.I work for vodafone and know our laptops are recycled for such use. I was able to hack my wifi account despite having it locked a few times. And quite often the aol THOMSON SPEED TOUCH aol sent didnt work.0

I got this deal in November as an existing customer. These laptops are not refurbished models. I know I could probably get broadband for less per month, but the way I kooked at it was this. I am only paying about £2.50 per month more than I was paying before & even though I am now tied to a 2 year contract, I couldn't buy a laptop of this spec for the £60 it is in effect going to cost me. I upgraded to a better spec laptop & am more than happy with the customer service I have received & the deal I got.0

I didn't know it was available in November. Carphone Warehouse staff were producing posters when I went in today and I got the impression, rightly or wrongly, that it was new to offer it to existing customers.
