I think you’re right ☺️ I like the idea of putting some of the difference into the pixie dust fund especially around Christmas time.

I’ve been looking into Christmas light trails… we usually go to W@ddesdon NT. They decorate the house, have lovely stalls and a beautiful light trail. NT membership offsets some of the costs. But they’re not doing one this year 😭… I’ve been looking at alternatives and the cost for us all is extortionate. K€w is around £300, Bl€nheim was £560 and W!ndsor was around £270 🤢. The ‘cheaper’ two are just trails too and all 3 would be a bit of a faff to get to.

I’m thinking we might find a nice Christmas fair instead. I’ve been to W!nchester before which was lovely. Or maybe go to a P@nto, although I’m not convinced the men of the family would be interested 🤔

I don’t know how far away you are from longleat but have you looked at their festival of lights. They have a different theme each year and the ticket gives you entry to see the animals during the day first. It might obviously be much too far away from you though!! Xx

Just had a look and it’s 70-80 minutes away and it looks absolutely amazing! Sadly it would be about £400 for us all to go 🙈

Last year one of my kids took their family into London in the car on Boxing Day evening to drive round the various lit up buildings and illuminated streets. The roads were deserted and the kids loved it. I thought it was a clever idea.

I like that idea, we’re only 40 minutes from London by train. So maybe we could do something similar on foot in a condensed area. My husband hates going into London but I could go with the kids. Food for thought 🤔

I think a lot of people aren’t put off or priced out, these places always sell out. I would probably book if we were a family of 4, but it’s quite prohibitive for a big family. There’d also be parking and food on top and there are always stalls etc so it really adds up.
