The reason I ask is that my younger brother ignored their messages for years. He works for the home office and they have somehow worked that out and the police have been in touch. They are still demanding he pays the sum of over £200. My brother feels like he will lose his job so is in a catch 22 situation

The police dont get involved in civil matters involving private parking companies like Excel Parking

Excel Parking can demand payment for outstanding private pcn invoices, but only a judge in civil court can decide if the money is owed or not

    Ignored for how many years?

Police don’t get involved in private parking charges (civil, not criminal issues). Are you sure they’re not discussing a quite different matter with him?

For what reason does he think a private parking charge will cost him his job?

He requires an NPPV3 for his job in home office. So for clearance the police questioned why he never declared he had this CCJ on his application as he genuinely forgot. He purchased a parking ticket displayed back in Nov 2020. He appealed with proof but they rejected stating incorrect reg number. After that he did not respond

CCJ is a county court judgement. It cannot exist unless he lost a court claim. Did he ignore court letters?

I'm a random person on the internet. I hold no legal qualifications and nothing I say is advice.

Agree. That’s the issue rather than an unpaid private parking charge, per se!

The CCJ times out in 6 months or so. ( May 2027. ) so pointless paying it, it won't remove it from his credit file

Your sibling ( a government department employee. ) was extremely foolish to ignore legal letters from another government department, such as the CNBC in Northampton, nevermind not deal with it, nor disclose it to his employer either
