Do we have to create an account on the government website? Under my dad’s name? Or is one already created for us?

The Defendant uses their Government Gateway Account (or creates one, carefully noting the two-stage Gateway ID number).

This is explained already in the pictorial walk-through 'how to do AOS' Dropbox link given in the simple 8 steps.

My dad is no longer the owner of the vehicle. The register keeper is now me since February 2026. That does not make a difference to anything should it?

If its his name on the claim form then ownership is irrelevant

If he was the Registered Keeper on the date of the incident, then the cars subsequent history is irrelevant

In simple terms, if he is the defendant named on the paperwork, he and only he must defend
