How to pay a small cheque in to Nationwide

Yes but why ?
I can't see any downside for Nationwide - It simply means that customers can pay more money more easily into Nationwide coffers !
If I was half as smart as I think I am - I'd be twice as smart as I REALLY am.1 -
The downside to them would be the difficulty of implementing it with their antiquated system and also the associated cost.
It's a bit strange really as back in 2000 they were relatively quick to implement Internet banking and even had terminals in their branches where you could log in, but now they seem to have little interest in anything remotely modern.

There's also the possibility of attempting to lend creedence to their strategy of keeping all branches open. E.g. by restricting some activities to branch only, and not having a broader range of services via Post Office counters. This might also explain why the one postal cheque paying-in option described on their website is to post it to your local branch.
Not unlike the strategy Nottingham BS adopted of avoiding providing an online service, and cloaking what little they did do behind the 'Beehive' nonsense.
