How to pay a small cheque in to Nationwide
I have a small cheque to pay in to my Nationwide flex account
How is this done ?
No local branch
No ability to scan cheques on line - come on Nationwide - add an app
Not worth paying £1 for postage - the cheque is only for £7.35 !
This is so frustrating !!
If I was half as smart as I think I am - I'd be twice as smart as I REALLY am.

Pay it in to one of the other banks you use.
If you don't use a different bank*, now would be an excellent time to look for an alternative that meets your needs and open an account with them.
(*Consensus on the forum is having more than one bank account across different banking groups is a good idea.)
Edit: E.g. Picking one which allows cheques to be paid in via their app, or one which allows cheques to be paid in via the Post Office with no need for a stamp.

Try your local Post Office.

You can't pay cheques in to a Nationwide account at a Post Office.
It is also very unlikely they will be able to cash the cheque.
And the banking products offered by Post Office themselves tend to be more problematic than they are worth.
For a local Post Office to be part of the solution MouldyOldDough would first need an account with one of the banks which allows cheques to be paid in via a Post Office counter.

You can pay in at a Nationwide ATM as well but I would echo the above to just setup another account - you could even do it with Nationwide, then switch for a cash bonus to a bank that does

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Barclays, Natwest.
Lloyds banking group: Not recommended for your case, as while the app does cheque deposits, you can't deposit cheques at the post office.
Also TSB (wouldn't recommend, branches thin on the ground, and now part of Santander group).
Otherwise it's have a look around your local area and see which building societies have a local branches and also have an app/online banking. (Deposit the cheque over the counter into an easy access account, and then transfer out funds a week later when the cheque clears).
Most of the new "fintech"/challenger banks don't do cheques at all (Monzo, Starling, Revolut et al)

Monzo & Starling have cheque scanning, Revolut doesn't, don't know about et al.

Final line is slightly incorrect.
Monzo do cheques up to £500 in the app, above this you can send it in the post. Source: their Help pages I am currently looking at now.

Her issue was the cheque type - plus she should just ask HMRC to do BACS which they can do after cancelling the cheque
