How to pay a small cheque in to Nationwide

Basically, Nationwide have opted not allow app or Post Office / Banking Hub deposits as they're a Building Society not a Bank as and when it suits them.
I see they've enabled PayPoint access for cash instead of the Post Office - now i can share my banking with those buying half-bottles of Voddy, Cigarillos and scratch cards

It's probably a warrant of payment than an actual cheque but should have still functionally worked.
I agree that BACS / FP is definitely preferable but I also use my bank's app (HSBC) for the occasional cheque and it has worked fine so far.

Sorry - I just wanted to make it clear that I was amazed that the solution to, what is a simple issue, should be to open a new bank account 1
If I was half as smart as I think I am - I'd be twice as smart as I REALLY am.0 -
Well this is the price you pay for choosing to bank with, quite frankly, a backwards bank IT wise with very few local branches.
Vote with your feet. Even if you dont have any bank branches anywhere near you, you will have a Post office near you I assume
Everyday Banking | Personal and Business Accounts | Post Office
Pick a bank that allows cheque deposits, have to select from the dropdown and it tells you what you can do at the PO with each bank. And thats even before finding out if you can pay a cheque in using the app.

You already had all of the options for how to pay a cheque into a Nationwide account.
No-one was (I hope) suggesting that you open an additional account solely to deposit a £7 cheque, simply pointing out that this would be a useful byproduct of having alternative current account banking facilities.

I had an on-line chat with Nationwide and requested that they post me a reply paid envelope - this was refused - so I am starting the official complaint procedure !

Yes it's always useful to have a second account. I bank mainly with Monzo but I have a Halifax account as a spare which was useful when I got an £1100 cheque that was over Monzo's app pay in limit.

Having flashbacks to my Egg Savings pre-paid 1st class green envelopes complete with paying-in book. Latterly they changed them to "you must affix a stamp" envelopes, but I still had enough spares of the previous version.
Halifax app cheque scanner has been fine for me and also have used Tesco's Freepost address, though with the Barclay's takeover I don't know if you can still open an account.
Hopefully I wont receive any more of these banking relics.

…have used Tesco's Freepost address…
For their current account? Closed all current accounts at end 2021.

It was listed for their Instant Saver IIRC, but works/worked for their other savings accounts.
