Happy Birthday to TATTYCATH and Miss JOCKETTUK. Airkiks looks fantastic - just the sort of thing my DS2 26 year old would love to do so I shall print the details off for him. Another good day out I found recently (although we haven't visited it yet) is Go Ape, an adventure park where all the activities are in the trees and you literally go 'ape' and swing around in them! There are about 8 centres throughout the country so there should be one fairly near to most of us. I'm going to have a look into planning a day out there some time this year.

(((Hugs))) to ODDSNSODS- what an ordeal but so glad the worst is over and good to hear a positive report about the cleanliness of a hospital these days. I wish you a speedy recovery.

PENPIN - how lovely to hear you say you are feeling a little better this morning! I do hope this continues for you.

Well, took DH his cuppa and can now hear him snoring again! Oh, well - it is Sunday!

We took the decorations down last night and have just a couple of things to put away (had to leave something up for 12th night!). DH did the mass downstairs hoovering and I will finish straightening the front room up this morning. Doesn't everything look bare when the tree first comes down? I like to see everything back in its place, though, and it will feel like an organised start to the first proper working week.

I have a little bit of ironing to do but may flutter my eyelashes at DH and tell him how good he is at it (ironing, I mean!) and see if he'll fall into the trap! It should only take around half an hour. I fully intend to keep on top of the ironing this year (see those pigs flying around up there?!)

Dinner today is bargain roast lamb, roast potatoes, carrots, broccoli and gravy and I'm going to make an apple, pear and plum crumble with left-over fruit. I made the crumble mix yesterday so only have to do the fruit.

By the end of the day I want to feel as if the house is all clean and tidy so I can wake up tomorrow and plan - I'm aiming for an 'eBay' day; I keep finding things that we just don't use any more so I'm going to make an inventory and gradually start listing; I shall also get DH to look at all the things he could sell, as well. I need to relist some books on Amazon - I did all this in such a slapdash way last year. I made a bit of money but not enough!

Mondays and Tuesdays are usually quiet days workwise for me so I shall save those days for heavy housework and baking, meal-planning and so on - oh, all these plans and good intentions are making me feel quite saint-like! I just have to put them into action, that's all! I am also determined to keep up a household diary so I know what is going on round here and I found the spending diary site that someone (sorry, I can't remember who!) posted a link for (thanks - I have used it every day and will carry on with it!).

Anyway, see you all later and have a great day!

Morning all - I'm another of the 'can't sleep' brigade, asleep at 2.30 and awake at 7.00. I'm not needing to nap during the day so I guess I'm getting enough sleep really.

I was completely useless at iceskating yesterday, so next Sunday I'm doing an adult trampolining class instead in a quest to find some cardio exercise that I enjoy.

Last night I had a mad hour in which I threw out 50 videotapes that I've recorded off the telly since 1983, and all our old cassettes which we've now got on CD. That's cleared a fair amount of space, and I'm going to do books a bag at a time to the charity shop. DH is inspired by how good the kitchen looks since decluttering, so he's onside with this (which has always been the sticking-point before)..

Today I'm mealplanning while DH snores. Then we're going back to Homebase to exchange yesterday's jigsaw drill which is faulty, have an ogle and lunch in IKEA (haven't had their meatballs in years - yum), shop at Tesco for a change, and go round to MIL's with a big mallet thing to knock down her brick barbecue. Dinner will eventually be the spag bol planned for yesterday because we ended up in Pizza Express instead. It's highly unusual for us to eat out anywhere so I'm not complaining, and it's been a busy few days.

Tomorrow is DH's first day back at work since October after an op on his leg, so an early night after prepping things like lunch and gymbag.

    Morning All

Happy birthday to those celebrating and to everyone who, like me, is feeling under the weather, feel better soon.

Christmas decorations came down yesterday. Always sad to see them come down. Had an unexpected night out last night. It's my friend's birthday today and her bf sent me a text to see if I was around for a few drinks. We had so much fun. I can't remember when I last laughed that much. Tried one cocktail which is never to be touched again - gin, vodka, cointreau and champaign - horrid and very, very strong. I left it.

Also had an inpromtu night out on Friday with another friend who needed to talk.

Got to put the decorations away when I get home from work, also hoping for a nap as I had less than 6 hours last night and dinner will be roast lamb.

    Hope everyone's ok

    Good morning everyone,

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TATTYCATH AND JOCKETTS DD xxx

Odds-n-sods - i saw your post last night, hope you are feeling better this morning xx

After the party on here last night - im feeling fine!!! There is a lot to be said for 'virtual food and drink'. Glad to see Haribo did a stirling job of cleaning up after us all!!!

No plans today - will be having a pjamma day i think - love days like this when we have nothing planned and can mooch around.

The WM is on already with DSs bedding (mine will be done tomorrow, DDs were done yesterday) and i need to get the BM on in a moment. We will be having roast beef for lunch, but dont need to get that on until later - i dont like my beef rare, but i dont like it over cooked either so it wont take long to cook.

Thats about it from us - i hope anyone who is feeling poorly/poorly families are feeling better - have a lovely day everyone,
    Take care xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

    morning all,

Happy birthday Tattycath and Miss Jockettuk :j .

Odds glad you are home and can start to recover x

Theres still seems a lot of bugs going round so hugs to those feeling bad xx

Got to take my DD into school today for a dance rehersal between 10 and 4, I will take her and her dad will collect, which means I can get back this morning and get some jobs done then flop out of the sofa for the afternoon.
Need to make up a lunch for DD for today, I haven't missed doing that at all :o . Also I need to pop in to the station and buy her season ticket for school this term.

Roast lamb roast spuds, cauli carrots and peas for late lunch, will do it at 4.30 for when DD gets home, she will probably be starving after dancing all day.

Beauiful day here although car is covered in frost, might get out for a walk later.

    Have good days all xx

    Gooooood Morning fellow OS’ers :D:D:D

Many happy returns to those celebrating birthdays; get well soon to those who are under the weather; Odds-n-Sods, wishing you a speedy recovery!

Today is another Admin day, with a bit of bobbing in and out to the bread machine and washing machine inbetween. House just needs a quickie with the vacuum and a dust. Already have a wash load on and made up some EasYio ready for the week. Ironing pile is looking rather bloated, so I’ll need to tackle that while I watch Pirates later today :D

Good to see some new faces as well as the more familiar one’s in the daily :D

Have a good day, one and all :D:D:D

Got a bit of a sleep in as DS didn't wake until 8.15. DD and OH still fast asleep - OH is in the snoring room, so I haven't seen him yet. He has the Sunday lie-in anyway.

Today I have a big list. Tree down, clean all three bathrooms (what WAS I thinking, LOL), get ready for school and work tomorrow, write invites for DD's late birthday party, tidying, vacuuming, we ought to go for a walk at some point (DS very fat).

Yesterday was quite nice. Made bread, but was not impressed - it was a ready mix and is very heavy. Maybe because it only said to do one rising. But I have the stuff to make the real thing when I have time (I prefer to do it by hand, don't have a BM). Had hm veg & barley soup for lunch, hm chinese feast for tea. Have made a spicy kidney bean & chorizo soup for today's lunch. Dh accused me of doing all this cooking because I don't want to clean the toilets ... I don't think it's that at all, but it shows how ungrateful the wretch is!

Feeling a bit down about something stupid. I've been doing some longer term financial planning, trying to work out how we can get into a house of own again. Don't want to move more than once more, and one year leases are a pain in the butt. But we don't have pensions either. So, with 20 years max left to work, both incomes are essential. And it is looking awfully like, unless something changes, there will be no after school care for DS when he starts secondary in 2 1/2 years. The clubs are no good, he's disabled. People say, "Oh, get direct payments and hire a nanny" but my experiences with nannies have been terrible. And it isn't about the money anyway, it's about quality of care. So anyway, there is a real possibility that either DH or myself will have to work part-time or possible even stop altogether. That's also a loss of quite a bit of our surplus income, even after accounting for not paying for the after school club for DD and DS. DH would say, it's a bit early to worry about this, but if we're thinking about houses and mortgages it doesn't seem early at all.

    Hi everyone!
Hugs to all those who need them or who are feeling rough.
OS today has been sorting out all the decluttered items we've amassed this week and I need to go and put out the washing which is sitting smiling at me. Shall spend the rest of the morning sorting out and dusting now the decs are away.
Clan gathering for lunch round my parents so it'll be great to catch up with everyone.
This evening I probably "should" update the accounts and I'll need to make my lunch for work. My reward will be to watch Time Team which is one of my fav programmes.
    Have a good day everyone.
