Good morning.. this is the Daily Thread for 05/01/08. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well
Happy Birthday Tattycath!!:bdaycake::D
Hope all the snotties are improving.

Snowy...will you step away from the telly for 5 minutes and post something.:p
Went to bed at midnight and awake by 4am. Think I should have joined them in a drink last night and knocked myself out.
Plans for today are to get the girls organised for school tommorrow and cook some more meals for the week as I will be back to work..Need to make yoghurts and extra bread for the packed lunches.
I also want to keep on top of the laundry and housework if I'm to work 5 mornings a week for OH.:o
The house still smells of burnt hoover but the smoke has cleared.
HM sausage rolls for lunch and cauliflower, brocolli and bacon canneloni for tea a la my new Jamie book.
Hope everyone has a lovely Sunday.
Haribo x

Morning Haribo and all those to follow,
(((HUGS))) to those who want/need them
I'm ill!!! Coughing loads, runny nose etc... still going on but now I feel sick too  I don't want both bugs at the same time... it's not fair!!! Anyway, I might as well copy Haribo's post :rotfl: .. went to bed at midnight ... up at 4. Am spending today getting kids ready to go back.
I wanted to make brownies for lunchboxes but if I carry on with this throughout the day I think I will just end up giving them more germs
Also.... getting to grips with remainder of clean washing and 1 x load of dirty and should be ok on that front
Dinner today ... for those feeling well enough to eatwill be drumsticks, sweet potato mash, mystery veg. Tea will be ..... boiled egg n soldiers. Have got no idea what pud will be for either
Hope everyone has a good day,

Morning - must be the twilight zone, bed at 12 up since 4 - absolutely shattered but feeling awful. Will probably spend the entire day getting the house straight - OH is still up from the pub the night before in the other room chatting with his friend so will have two smelly lads wandering about all day as well
Would love to be able to do my washing but I think I'm more likely to be searching the net for a bargain replacement washing machine as ours went kaput on new years --- again
I've really got the January blues these last few days. Need to snap out of it!!0 -
Morning all. the flu is leaving me I think......
but.....haven't been able to sleep all night for coughing. At least I'm not achey tho. Got up eventually at 5.30 and had a hot toddy
Thought it would make me sleepy but seems to have livened me up! Oh well, it's nearly 7am now so i'll stay up for a while anyway.
((((hugs)))) to those who are sick - and jet77 I really hope you don't get both lurgies at once - that would be too unfair.
Plans for today are just to change bed which i didn't get round to doing yesterday, and have a sleep!
OH bought a pie from the butcher so that is Sun lunch - nice and easy.
Happy birthday Tattycath. Hopefully you will be having a nice long sleep on your birthday.0 -

Morning all and (((hugs))) to all those who are still feeling poorly or starting to feel unwell. Please don't try and do too much - I think that was why it seemed to take ages for me to get better. It was so difficult with so much to do over Christmas but, in the end, I just had to give in. I think we shall all be glad when this 'lurgy' season has finally disappeared.
Happy Birthday to TATTYCATH and Miss JOCKETTUK. Airkiks looks fantastic - just the sort of thing my DS2 26 year old would love to do so I shall print the details off for him. Another good day out I found recently (although we haven't visited it yet) is Go Ape, an adventure park where all the activities are in the trees and you literally go 'ape' and swing around in them! There are about 8 centres throughout the country so there should be one fairly near to most of us. I'm going to have a look into planning a day out there some time this year.
HARIBO - My DS2 and his GF bought me the latest Jamie Oliver book for Christmas; I loved his last series and the book is great with loads of lovely recipes and advice for growing all the veg. I haven't tried any of them yet but will as soon as I get the house straight!
Anyway, can just hear DH getting up so had better make his cuppa.
See you all later.

Posted this yesterday night, but
A: I was out of it and;
B: A party broke out in the thread afterwards for 9 pages after my post! So nobody will probably read it there........
I'm back at home now - less 2/3 of a toe.
Not a great day Fri., got to the hotel OK thurs., had a very nice meal. Up at 6AM to get to hossie by 7. OH ate a continental brekkie in front of me. (Mean OH!)
Booked in, was asked 20 questions, temp. blood pressure, etc by 7:30, changed etc. Saw doc, 3 nurses, physio, Anaesthetist by 8:15. Then sat and sat and sat and sat. OH went to see how long, was told Noon as doc had switched patients (i was supposed to be 1st)Then OH saw a sign that said 12:45, ARRRRGHHHH!
So I didn't get into OR until 12:45, woke up at 2:15, 15 minute OP. Had the needle in my inner arm as they couldn't get a vein in my hand. That HURT! Woke up nauseous, did throw up several times (hard to do when stomach was empty). All in all I didn't eat or drink until 5:30 - 21.5 hours without food and 19 hours without drink.
Got a bowl of soup a sandwich, tea, juice and fruit salad at 5:30, it was decent hospital food.
Went back to the hotel last night, then home today.
I would go back this hossie again if I had to. Clean, very good staff.
My whole foot is bandaged, go back in 12 days to have stitches out. Have exercises to do as well.
Got Tramadol to take for 4 days, then paracetemol after that. No codeine as it makes me throw up. Lasted 12 hours on the tramadol; it made me nauseous and high as a kite. Taking paracetamol and an anti-inflammatory.
Trip back home wasn't enjoyable, I was throwing up every time the taxi from the hotel to Nuneation slowed down, but the taxi driver understood. We had plastic bags and my OH went into Sainsburys to buy rubbish bags as well. I needed them.
No, I didn't keep my toe. Never got asked, if I think about it!
Thanks for all your best wishes!0 -

not taking it anymore, penny-pincher, it made me so nauseous! Apparently with some people it's perfect, with others, its a nightmare, it made me high as a kite and throwing up at the drop of a hat.0
