Popped into my branch today to check my behaviour score and its gone up to 42 yay! Have ordered me a Maestro card, which the lady said will help my behaviour score further, she said once the managed loan has gone it should shoot right up :D

    Thanks for the help :)

That's great news - you're obviously pleasing the bank :)

    Glad we could help

I asked for my score on the phone today, it's 43 apparently. Meh.

Did you ask them straight away?

P.S. Did you press "general enquiries" or "borrowing needs"?

Do you have a maestro or a solo card? Might be worth ordering a maestro as the lady said it would help with the score, apparently having a solo damages your score. I know the score needs to be 40+ to get the maestro.
  • Anyone shed any light on the following with HSBC and their internal score?

I have had my account with them for 4 months and pay in about 3.5k each month by bacs and have never gone overdrawn or bounced anything.. I have a maestro with £100 guarentee

Yesterday I applied for a credit card and overdraft. As I don't use an overdraft decided to pick something small so asked for £500.

The overdraft was agreed and put on my account straight away and the credit card declined. When I questioned this further they advised that this was because a failed a credit check which was carried out by Experian.

Just be carefull as this "internal score" that is being touted around my not be accurate

The BS is 'accurate', i.e. it's based on your behaviour with HSBC. It doesn't pupport to be a reflection of your external credit history or behaviour with other financial organisations.

General enquiries. Asked for it along with a few other questions. I've got a Maestro.

I've got a score of 67 - is that good? (BTW I was initially told "I don't know what a behaviour score is" then when I gave the little story that was suggested earlier, about speaking to the bank about a loan, and was told to call after the 7th...blah blah blah, he said "Oh that score" and gave it to me.

So, have I understood right, that changing my SO & DD to after the 7th will make a difference?

I used to work for a company that was contracted to HSBC and i spent alot of time in there secure area seeing them work, This is the same reason i would never bank with Barclays, you would not believe some of the stuff i have seen at Barclays, worst bank.

I got the bank staff to check my score about a year ago and the lady said it was perfect, i have never been overdrawn, i have a savings account paid into monthly and a credit card with them paid by direct debit.

If you keep your account balance up you should be fine, my account always has money going in and out because i get paid weekly and i never use cash. My credit card has never been late. I think my score was 91, i dont know what it goes up to though.
