Am i right in thinking that Applications for a credit card/Loans are credit checked rather than being based on your behaviour score?

I have a Plus account with a small £200 overdraft, and have had the account for 2 months with my salary paid in (if any of that helps)

    Thanks

One or both, depending on your standing with the bank. It's really impossible to say.
  • I wonder if an company like HSBC would share its information with First Direct as it is owned by the same people.

    No, different companies.

I know this is ooooold, but would not automatically agree..

I know for a fact that First Direct employees have immediate access to HSBC accounts at transaction level. Some will deny it, some will speak to you about it.

As well as a few times years ago, my most recent experiance of this is when i switched my mortgage to them last year. Myself and partner have current accounts with FD, and also HSBC. One lot of wages goes into FD, the other to HSBC.

We didnt have to send in wageslips as they just checked both sets of accounts there and then and quizzed us on any large transctions which had gone from either FD ro the HSBC account.

yes I have heard that as well. apparently they use the same computer system as they are part of the same group.
  • HSBC employees can access some FD data from in branch, so I'm guessing that a reciprocal arrangement exists - although frankly, FD should have little use for such things, as they don't directly deal with HSBC customers as such.
  • it's my understanding that if you have an account with both fd and hsbc, then you all have one behavior with the group. which from their pov is sensible. also the t&c's actually say hsbc group. as both belong to group it doesn't really matter.

You will have a behaviour score with HSBC...all the customers have one with HSBC. Why don't you go in and find out? It is on the screen when they type your account details.

Not all customers have one, a basic bank account customer doesn't have one. Upgrading to a current account is subject to a credit scored application

Sorry, whoever told you that is incorrect. Basic Bank Account customers definitely don't have a behaviour score.

Makes sense that they wouldn't but I read in another thread on here that they did, so as to ascertain when to upgrade you, or rather if to upgrade you...? Thanks for clearing it up...
