  • Makes sense that they wouldn't but I read in another thread on here that they did, so as to ascertain when to upgrade you, or rather if to upgrade you...? Thanks for clearing it up...

No probs. The decision on whether to upgrade you is down to a full credit scored application so would only be done if you wanted to upgrade. Off the top of my head I think you need to have had the account running for 6 months before it would be worthwhile applying.
The behaviuor scores actually mean very little to be honest. If it's too low you might not be able to apply for an overdraft or a debit card but any credit is always subject to an external credit score.

Are you referring to HSBC or another bank/all banks? Is this from experience..?

Just wondering cos others seem to say the HSBC Behaviour score does help - it must do, cos I got 2nd bank account yesterday and no credit check made as yet? Hmmm, will let you know in a few days if a footprint is left on any of my credit reports....

I went to speak to a member of staff about a mistake HSBC had made with my account (another story). They sorted the problem for me and I asked if I could have the print out from the 'Customer Profile' screen which the man had done so we could look at my accounts.

When I got home, I noticed a 'behaviour score: 055'. Above this are two ratings - 'Value' (for which I had 4 stars) and 'Potential' (for which I had 5 stars). I havent exactly managed my account brilliantly always so I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on these? I guess to be good 'value' to a bank I have to have a credit card and pay of the minnimum each month, for example? What does my 'Potential' mean? Likliehood of needing a loand or something?

Potential is the possibility of you taking out other HSBC products in the future. Value is an utter crapshoot as far as I'm concerned, I've seen people who are always over their OD limits with 5 star value ratings and people who have banked with us for years and never caused a problem with a single star. Any member of staff basing a decision on it would have to be insane. ;)

    Hi,

Can anyone tell me why HSBC would refuse to move you from basic bank account to current account. ?? No CCjs in last six years - no defaults, up to date payment on accounts that are open. !! what do these people want.

Said I had failed credit score !

Do they have white information .. I have only two years of 00000000s on my credit file ???

I did have a CCJ set aside - claimants request.. but nothing else adverse, dont understand them !

    Thanx
