i am having a real sense of de javu today, the parcel that amazon have dispatched to hdnl has allegedly been attempted to be delivered today, yet like the last parcel they sent through hdnl, there is no sign of it, and no cards that have been left,

the house has only been unocupied for a total of 30 minutes today, if the previous posters are correct, and they are meant to leave a card each time they try, so why no card? or is this another blatant lie, like my experience with the delivery of the dvd player, as i know 100% on the day the dvd player was allegedly attempted to be delivered, that no one at all had tried as we were in all day!

its arrived, though its by pure fluke that i noticed it was delivered, as dad looked out an window upstairs and noticed a white van pulling off, so he mentioned it as he knows i am waiting for an order, and low and behold the amazon parcel was in the porch, they didnt bother ringing the door bell though!

Doorstepping is not an official delivery method.

    Just the UNofficial one then

We cannot go out with every driver to see what they are doing we can only deal with them from the feedback we get.

Ever heard of training? or set standards even?

It affects us all if lots of parcels come back as this is when agency use is then needed and that seems to be where most of MSE's problems lie.

People pay good money for delivery - if your trying to cut costs, then obviously service is going to suffer

HDN are appalling. We live in a builing with a building manager and 24 hour consierge. There is ALWAYS someone on reception - often 2 people.

The number of packages HDN have tried to tell us were not delivered because no one was in and that they "left a card" is unreal... Our consierge even reviewed the 24hour CCTV we have running (in doors and out) to prove they never came anywhere near the building...

My boots order has been sent via HDN... Not holding out much hope of seeing it now...

LOTS more people with HDN grumbles here: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=672259&page=10

AAAH! I just checked mine out of interest and it is supposed to be delivered by HDNL as well. Had it delivered to work this time as there is 24 hour security, reception etc. and there is even cctv covering the parking spaces in front of the office, so if they claim this time that they tried to deliver when they never even turned up I might be tempted to send them a copy of the cctv video and ask them if they can pinpoint exactly when they tried to deliver!

as ive mentioed before on the ebay boards.
people are demanding cheaper and cheaper courier services so the margins are getting slimmer, pressures are up on couriers and drivers are getting more packaes with less time to deliver

now were seeing the results.look how many graunch over amazons free delivery service over paying for postage

thats true, more people are deciding not to pay for the postage from amazon, but once upon a time the free postage was very good service (and there also seems to be little difference with paid postage and free postage services from my experience) and secondly more and more companies are offering this service without using poor companies such as hndl, and if amazon do continue to do this i will serously consider changing from them,

for instance on cd's and dvd's there is very little difference (if any) between amazon and hmv for the price of the items, and they offer free delivery on all items as standard (without a lower price order limit either) however i have never once had any issues with the delivery of items i have ordered from hmv, all this latest order from amazon was was cd's dvd's and a couple of books.

just because people are choosing to get "free" postage, does not mean that they should get a bad service or being lied to, and realistically, we are paying for the postage, as the items themeselves are marked up from what they get them for, so it just cuts into the companies profit slightly, and lets be honest, if they were not making profit if they use "free delivery" they would not offer it to customers

yup,but you can bet aqmazons criteria is who is the cheapest courier.
this is the problem accross the board and companies getting an amazon contract are onto a good earner if they can get the numbers of packages through.
so bid low and process as many packages as possible.
you can see how/why corners are cut

I went to the Cardiff HDN depot to collect my Amazon parcel yesterday morning (saturday), but they said it had been already loaded onto a van and was out for delivery.

My house was occupied all day (wife was in when I went to the depot) but at 6pm I noticed that they had put a card through my door, saying attempted delivery! Looking at the tracking on Amazon it says a delivery was attempted at 4.15pm, which is complete nonsense, as we waited in all day and were in at that time. The delivery driver didn't knock on the door/ring the doorbell, just put the card through the door and legged it. What's the point of that? HDN are the worst of the the worst.

I have all that where I live - it usually makes no difference! HDN have NEVER delivered something to me (or my partner) straight off...

It's a true joy when ordering from Boots and you win the delivery lottery and get AMTRAK!
