Royal Mail should not be doorstepping full stop, I know lots of Delivery Officers do it to be helpful but it is anything but when you have to take the customer complaint because its been nicked, trust me on that one. If a customer complains you simply explain that its more than your job is worth!!
i do but i also deal(on a daily basis) with many complaints of why they have to come to the office when it could have been left in x place.
even more so if an item isnt back in the office at that time0 -
The question is...... would HDN employees want their parcels delivered by HDN. Doubt it.
Yes I would and I do, by a different depot to which I work.**BERTIE**Did you Know: It costs more than £325,000 a day to run the lifeboat service? (with no government funding) Please donate to the RNLI0 -

I can appreciate you personally may be helping the HDN... perhaps you should head over to my depot and teach them how to deliver a parcel to a building with a 24 hour reception.
I've just been told they woudnt attempt two deliveries on the same day.... I got tracking information showing they did on NYE in a 5 hour period....0 -
I cant believe how awful they. Almost puts you of internet shopping. The time wasted trying to sort this out, waiting on the phone, for a simple thing as ordering on the internet paying and then getting the delivery. The delivery being the problem. What makes me mad is theres no accountability.
You log a complaint and what does that lead to? Im still waiting for my order.
HDN must be one of the greatest jobs, you dont need to bother getting out of your van to deliver (just say its been carded) and if anyone complains its just lost in the system. Bliss:mad: .0 -

Some of my drivers DO attempt twice in 1 day but they don't have to - it's entirely upto the driver. I would be very surprised if you had someone "allegedly" call at 7pm on NYE. Looks like no-one has been, probably due to agency use.
Will always stick up for HDNL but as evry other company there are problems.**BERTIE**Did you Know: It costs more than £325,000 a day to run the lifeboat service? (with no government funding) Please donate to the RNLI0 -

Totally untrue. Drivers just would not last if they bring too many parcels back everyday. It's like a snowball effect where they will just build up and build up everyday you have a carryover from the day before. Trust me I know - before xmas I was carrying 800 parcels a day just in my team of drivers with about 400 cases of wine within that. It is not easy. This is what should happen;
1st attempt on day 1 when it arrives into depot.
2nd attempt on day 2 (except sats / suns)
Both days a card should be left.
Parcel should then be kept in depot for 5 working days and then sent back to supplier on the 6th
Just because it has been dispatched from Amazon etc etc say on a Monday doesn't mean that it will be ready for delivery at the depot on Tuesday.**BERTIE**Did you Know: It costs more than £325,000 a day to run the lifeboat service? (with no government funding) Please donate to the RNLI0 -

So this is the real reason why they doorstep - they don't want to take it back to the depot and then have the expense of to trying to redeliver
If they offload on your doorstep, there problem solved (and yours just started!)0 -
i usually am fairly happy with amazons courriers, but not so at the moment, they apparently sent a dvd player through HDNL, (was sent to hdnl on 4/1/08) which was meant to arrive yesterday (as per amazon),i checked the on line hdnl tracking this morning and it advised that it was on the van, and as at 9pm this pm had no sign of anything i thought i would check again on the web site tracking.
however i have just checked, and it claims that they attempted delivery today!!
considering that there have been 2 people in the house at least all day today, and we had not even gone into the garden etc so we would not have missed the door bell, thats rubbish! not to mention, i have been keeping an eye out for their vans most of the day! no cards etc have been left, nothing is in the porch etc
i have emailed amazon to let them know this, as at least if they are told the information they are told by the couriers is rubbish, they may do more about it and
it looks like i am not the only one having problem with this company, as there is a thread on digital spy where a lot of people have complaints about this courrier, claiming delivery and not delivering, or putting the item in bins, coal sheds, recycling boxes etcMFW#105 - 2015 Overpaid £8095 / 2016 Overpaid £6983.24 / 2017 Overpaid £3583.12 / 2018 Overpaid £2583.12 / 2019 Overpaid £2583.12 / 2020 Overpaid £2583.12/ 2021 overpaid £1506.82 /2022 Overpaid £2975.28 / 2023 Overpaid £2677.30 / 2024 Overpaid £2173.61 Total OP since mortgage started in 2015 = £37,286.86 2025 MFW target £1700, payments to date at April 2025 - £1712.07..0 -
Hi
Yes had the same experience as anna42hmr; was expecting some goods from M&S, checked the HDNL tracking page says was delivered this morning. Yet nothing through the door (as it should have been able as last order was same size and was posted by them). So no card, no idea where my stuff is.
Oh the OH has got a RM card to collect something for him and one for me tomorrow, so could that be it? Does HDNL use RM as a drop/delivery service?0 -
ok my second order was out for deliver today. I phoned three times just to make sure they know its a 24 hour reception.
Good and bad news... they didn't fail to deliver the parcel but they didn't try either. Fingers crossed for tomorrow.
I'll be looking at CCTV tapes tomorrow night if its "refused".0
