Halifax RS
This is an interesting point RE the easy access saver that it automatically opened up alongside the RS. I normally close mine, and did so when I opened the 8% saver on release, but I'm thinking I might open a new one before I lose access to the Halifax just to see what happens next year.

Have you missed the discussion about the rate change for the current available issue?
…or do you mean open a new easy access saver?

Yes, I was referring to opening a new easy access saver to allow my existing RS to roll over when it matures, at whatever rate is prevailing at the time. I am aware the rate has dropped :(

It's an interesting idea, assuming there isn't some sort of link between the RS and account opened automatically. The safe way would have been to refresh the RS, but obviously unwise now. I suspect the rate will not become good again, so it will be interesting to see what happens to the existing 8% accounts, or indeed the previous generation.

I think (at least in the past) there was some kind of link between the RS and the automatically opened EveryDay Saver.
I've had open EveryDay Savers, but not the EveryDay Saver (which I'd closed when opening the RS), and when the RS account matured it did the conversion into an EveryDay Saver, rather than the RS rollover.

Darlington
How long does it take for Darlington to get back to you about the RS? I applied earlier in the week and got the we will be in contact with you and have heard nothing since. I had a Darlington RS which ended in August, but can't remember how the opening of that went. I tried logging in using my old details but they don't work any more.

If opening online and logged in it is instant; maybe a logout and in to see. A confirmation email is sent after / next morning. But this isn't what you did.
Give them a call. Or maybe try again.
