It was next (working) day for me, and I think for some others, too.
It's only the Halifax and Lloyds ones which can be opened same day as "renewing" the old ones.0 -
Thanks. That makes sense.
Chat agent has suggested logging out and going through the product page to apply for the account not logged in to begin with. Might give that a try. Otherwise next day is ok.

BOS REGULAR SAVER
Agent said " some perople have been trying to close down monthly savers to open a new one at 8% but the system knows you havent completed the 12 months so wouldnt allow the new one to be opened so i wanted to make sure before i close this one"
Not currently showing available to open, old regular saver disappeared from account list. 😯

Too late. I have already transferred the £

Overnight, 1 brought balance to zero, requested closure yesterday afternoon, opened new account this morning.

Being logged out and starting through the product page doesn't really make much difference as if I login, it doesn't automatically start the application. Of course I could try the not registered for online route. But I'll wait a day and try again.

The wording on the renew option, which fails for some reason only with BoS, indicates that it should be fine to renew an old Monthly Saver for a new Monthly Saver.

With Halifax, the RS is located under Fixed Rate savings. Not teaching my granny to suck eggs here, but just in case you missed it.

That appears to be a badly informed Agent, as opening the 8%er at BoS well before 12 months were up.
The Agent has probably assumed that the system enforces the T&Cs, which in this case it doesn't (unless they have updated their system in the last couple of days).
With BoS, you just have to wait until the next day to see the 8% account.
With Halifax and Lloyds, it can be done almost immediately after the old RS is gone, just a log out/log in required.1
