I thought I could send a secure message and ask for closure but no go to branch or put it in writing was the response
There was a comment made by another forum member who used the closed current account route who ended up with a closed current account. So I was put of doing this.
The telephone route can take upto 3 to 4 working days to complete will have to wait and see (15 minutes on phone)
So it wasn't worth the hassle

Hanley - How long does COP take to work? Opened their RS account yesterday evening and got the welcome pack by encrypted email this morning. With Hanley you can’t login until the user id arrives by post so I’m reluctant to fund the account until I see some sort of validation.

I closed 2 VM RS accounts (issue1) online, can't recall any complications.
I'm still thinking whether to refresh or not. It makes sense to extend the rate because we are expecting reductions within the next 12 months, but I don't want to miss the boat (one day gap in this process could result in getting nothing). I have two of them ('05' and '82'), so may be risk with one to start with.

Hello,
I would like to sincerely apologise if the opening sentence of our previous email did not come across as clear or well‑written.
The interest rate changed on 1 February, and unfortunately this means we are unable to delay the reduction. I appreciate that this is disappointing, and I am very sorry for the inconvenience this has caused. This is not the standard of service we aim to provide for our customers.
We have also identified the reason why some customers may not have received the original email, and we have taken steps to ensure this does not happen again. Please accept our apologies for the frustration this may have caused
If you have any further queries, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Well at least I had a response, however unsatisfactory!

Erm, no. What’s it dropping to?

The Hanley 1 Year Online Smart Saver dropped from 6.50% to 6.30%. I had the date recorded on my spreadsheet in advance so, as I hadn't previously received an email about it, I either received a letter in the post or (more likely) read about it on this thread (or it's predecessor) a while back.

Ah, right. I opened it at 6.3%. Just trying to work out the COP thing.
