With Virgin I just transferred it to my unused Virgin M current account and then internally transferred it across to the just opened regular saver.

I try and reduce the number of new payee's on my bank account for less confusion by, where possible, transferring all sums to an easy access account which I always leave open with any savings group for future ease and less hassle, then then do the transfer internally to the reg saver. Also same principle applies when applying and funding fixed term deposits. So for example with Principality I only have have one payment mandate to the easy access account rather than 3: for the two reg savers and the easy access one.

OK there are some few savings groups that make it difficult by demanding deposits come direct from the nominated bank account.

Why dont you just send a test payment of £1. If you are not prepared to risk that you can transfer it from your Virgin current sccount.

Instead of waiting for CoP to function you can transfer funds into your VM current account and feed your Regular Saver from there. This is instant.

I wasn't really suggesting they should vote with their feet, it was more a suggestion that we shouldn't expect everything to work super-quickly and if speed is more important to you than a 6.5% fixed interest rate then that's your choice.

  • Aside the poor grammar, it begs the question as to why they haven't done the decent thing and delayed the decrease until the 18th as they are bound by in the T&Cs.

Did you actually receive the original notification of the interest rate decrease? I can't find an email to say that I did, although I have updated my spreadsheet with the new rate at some point which I may have done after seeing it posted on this thread.

On the subject of the Hanley, is anyone experiencing problems with their website? I can see my account in the app but when I log on to the internet site I just get a useless error.
